A new Challenge

May 26, 2009

This week the yahoo group that I belong to posted a challenge to make a male card which took less than 10 minutes to complete and had to include a circle.  Male cards are not my forte but I decided to have a go and ended up making two cards.

Male card - Karen's ChallengeThe first set uses the stampset Party Hearty.  I used Kraft card for my base and stamped the Sanded background in versamark.  I stamped a piece of Baja Breeze with the party hats from the set using Baja Breeze ink, distressed the edges and mounted it to a piece of Night of Navy which I also distressed.  I attached this to the left hand side of the card.  I stamped the celebrate you image from the set in Night of Navy ink on Baja Breeze card and punched it out with my round scallop punch.  I mounted it to a square of Night of Navy (also distressed) using dimensionals and then attached the whole piece again using dimensionals.  To finish off I attached three brads on the bottom right hand side of my card.  (To get the spacing even I used my mat pack and paper piercer from the crafters tool kit.)

Male card 2 - Karen's ChallengeThe second card uses the Thoughts and Prayers stampset.  I used my Old Olive and Chocolate Chip markers to colour in the tree image and stamped  it on Confetti Cream cardstock.  I mounted this to a piece of Really Rust card.  My base card is Old Olive and I have attached a piece of Chocolate Chip Designer Series Paper to the left hand side.  After the tree image was attached, I stamped happy birthday from the Think Happy Thoughts stampset on Confetti Cream card and punched it out using the 1 1/4″ circle punch.  I also punched out a 1 3/8″ circle from Chocolate Chip and glued them together.  I attached this to the card using dimensionals.

I don’t think they turned out too badly and they really were very quick to make.
