Butterflies, Butterflies

February 6, 2010

Ok, so this is a card I made for another challenge.  This time it was for my Yahoo Group Late Night Stampers.  I also used the sketch challenge for Stamping 411, only I am a couple of days late.  I had been thinking about both these challenges and couldn’t make up my mind, then someone mentioned Red, Black and White and I thought Yipee, that’s what I will do.

Anyway, this is my card.

I started with Basic Black card and then added a layer of Whisper White (I distressed the edges).  I punched both edges of a strip of Basic Black card with the Eyelet Edge Punch, attached it to the distressed Whisper White card and added 3 Real Red Brads (used my paper piercing mat to get then even).  I stamped the large swirl from the Priceless stampset using Basic Black ink onto Whisper White card and distressed the edges.  I stamped 3 butterflies from the same stampset using Real Red ink onto Whisper White card and cut them out.  I attached the butterflies using dimensionals under the wings so that they would have some height then attached this whole piece to Basic Black card, again using dimensionals.  This was layered onto Real Red cardstock and using dimensionals attached to the front of the card.

I love the 3D effect you get using so many layers mounted with dimensionals.  The butterflies have SNAIL in the centre of their bodies and then 1/2 dimensionals on each wing.  So it is “stuck” in the middle but “up in the air” under the wings.

If you would like to learn how to make beautiful 3D cards, why not come to one of my classes or contact me (k.mcintosh1@optusnet.com) to organise a workshop or some one-on-one time.

I would love to hear what you think of this card.

Bye for now, Kris.
