Sail Away
I waited to buy this single stamp from the Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue and I honestly don’t know why. I have been seeing so many fantastic projects using this gorgeous stamp.

The ever so talented Mary Brown posted a couple of cards she made with sponged skys, and at the same time she showed how she got her sails to be white. I cased one of her cards and I have shared it on my Facebook Business Page and was inspired enough to try using my brayer to create this card. I recently watched a video tutorial by Butternut Sage which showed how to brayer without getting lines. I must say that this card has produced some of my best brayering yet.
I stamped the Sail Away image using Black Stazon ink onto Glossy White card. Then I tore a piece of copy paper to create the line for my horizon. I masked the area I wanted for the sea and punched a 1 3/8″ circle from a post-it note and placed it where I wanted the “sun/moon” to be. I started brayering with Daffodil Delight, then Pumpkin Pie and then Tangerine Tango at the very top. I reversed the mask and covered the sky and brayered with Bashful Blue and then Tempting Turquoise. I used the same mask to add some extra colour on the horizon using Tempting Turquoise and also to add some extra colour to the sea. Once I had finished brayering I removed the masks and then I stamped the Sail Away image again on Whisper White card, cut the sails out and then glued them over the brayered image. I added mats of Whisper White and Tempting Turquoise and then attached the image to a Whisper White folded card. I stamped the greeting from the Word Play stampset using Basic Black ink.
I am so impressed with the way this has turned out. I cannot thank Mary Brown and Butternut Sage enough for the fantastic inspiration.
Bye for now, Kris.
