A Techno Christmas

August 19, 2011

I made this card on Wednesday after spending the morning with my daughters and grandchildren at an Ekka Fun Day.  I hadn’t had time to photograph the card and funnily enough last night was issued with a challenge by Vicky to make a card without using an embossing folder, which made Gwen suggest that I might struggle.  I must admit to a certain fascination with the embossing folders and I do use them on almost the card I make, however, I CAN make a card without using them.

The sketch was fairly straightforward and I decided to keep it simple.  My base card is Cherry Cobbler and I added Jolly Holiday Designer Paper.  I used one side of the DSP at the top of the card and the reverse side at the bottom.  I stamped the greeting from Contempo Christmas onto Whisper White card and attached it to Cherry Cobbler card which has both edges punched using the Scallop Trim Border Punch.  I attached this to the card front making sure that it covered the joins in the Designer Paper.   I stamped the “ornament” image from the Contempo Christmas stampset onto Whisper White card using Cherry Cobbler ink and punched it out using the Ornament Punch.  I tied a bow in Old Olive 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon and attached it to the ornament using a Mini Glue Dot.  I added dimensionals t the back of the ornament and attached it to the card front.

As I said very simple, but it gave me excuse to use up some more of my retiring Designer Paper.  Gotta love that.

Bye for now, Kris.

I love this card! It is beautiful! I need to practice using more than one DSP pattern on a card. I’m not good at it.

I like your choice of Designer Paper, it reminds me of snow swirling outside, since I’m from Buffalo, NY. The bow on your ornament is the perfect finishing touch.

Kris, Iove what you have done, and knowing how you just love using your embossing folders in almost all your creations I did of course say you would find it a struggle not to. You are always up for a challenge and you have aquitted yourself so well and have created gorgeous card…….well done!!!!
