SC 09/11
Well this week Vicky has provided the sketch for us at Sunny Challenges and Creations. Along with the sketch we need to do some heat embossing.
For my embossing I decided to do some emboss resist. So I stamped the butterfly image from the Creative Elements stampset onto Glossy White Cardstock using Versamark and heat embossed using White Embossing powder. I then sponged Elegant Eggplant ink all over the cardstock and used a tissue to rub the extra ink off the embossed butterflies. I attached this to a layer of Old Olive cardstock. I pulled a thread to gather a length of Old Olive 5/8″ Satin Ribbon and attached it behind the Old Olive card. Then I attached this to a piece of Whisper White card which has been embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder and attached the other end of the ribbon to the back. This piece was then attached to the folded and scored Melon Mambo base card. I stamped “happy birthday” from the Happiest Birthday Wishes stampset onto Whisper White card using Elegant Eggplant ink, attached it to an Old Olive cardstock mat then to the card front using dimensionals. I stamped the flower from the Creative Elements stampset onto Whisper White card three times using Melon Mambo ink and cut out the various portions. I inked the cut flowers with Versamark and heat embossed using Clear Embossing Power. I stacked the flowers using dimensionals and then used dimensionals to attach the flower to the card front.
You can’t see the shine very well in either photo but the flower is really shiny and sparkly because of the clear embossing. I love the beautiful effect of the embossing of the emboss resist the sponged ink really makes the butterflies “pop”. I haven’t used this technique in ages but have been thinking about it in relation to a couple of stampsets lately, so you may see this technique again soon.
Now for more inspiration visit Vicky and Gwen’s blogs and then once you have your card created then pop over to Sunny Challenges and Creations and add it to Mr. Linky. I’m looking forward to seeing some beautiful creations this week.
Bye for now, Kris.

I love the colors! Great technique – an oldy but goodie!
