A lovely Christmas card

November 14, 2010

Stamping 411 challenge this week is a sketch challenge and I decided to make a Christmas card as I still need to make a lot to send out this year.

I love the single tree from the Lovely as a Tree stampset, it reminds me of a traditional Christmas Tree.  My base card is Real Red and I have applied Real Red ink using the direct to paper technique.  I love the way this adds random texture to the card.  I added a piece of Always Artichoke card which I ran through the Big Shot using an embossing folder which will be available to purchase with the release of the Summer Mini on December 1 – it’s called Square Lattice and I love it.  I’v added a piece of Chantilly 1/2″ crochet trim which is also being released in the Summer Mini.  The tree image is stamped onto Very Vanilla card using Always Artichoke ink and the edges sponged with the same ink.  A layer of Always Artichoke card and another of Very Vanilla and then it is attached to the card front using dimensionals.  I stamped “very merry” from the Short and Sweet Stampset onto Very Vanilla card using Always Artichoke ink and punched it out using the Word Window Punch.  I added it to a Modern Label punched from Always Artichoke card and then added another Very Vanilla Modern Label cut with the Movers and Shapers Modern Label Die using the Big Shot.  I followed a video tutorial by Teresa Payne which shows how to cut the individual shapes without cutting the whole card.

I decorated the inside of this card to match the front.  I stamped a message from the Level 3 Hostess Set Occasional Quotes using Real Red ink.  I stamped the tree image using Always Artichoke ink but stamping off twice before stamping onto the card, to give a more subdued effect.  I sponged the edges with Always Artichoke ink before layering onto Always Artichoke and Very Vanilla Card.  All I have to do now is write in it and it is ready to send off to someone special this Christmas.

I am very happy with the way this card has turned out and cannot wait to show you more of the new product from the Summer Mini.  Contact me to find out how to get your own copy of this new mini catalogue.

Bye for now, Kris.
