Stamping 411 Challenge 222

October 5, 2011

Well sorry for my absence, but life has been a little hectic.  I have two workshops next weekend which I have been busy preparing for.  Anyway I finally found time to stamp for fun and I made this card using the sketch from Stamping 411 this week.

I decided to go with Night of Navy and Whisper White for this Christmas card.  I also wanted to make something using heat embossing.  I embossed a piece of Whisper White card stock using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder and wrapped the left hand side with Night of Navy 1/4″ grosgrain ribbon.   This piece was then attached to the scored and folded  Night of Navy card stock base card.  I cut a Top Note from Night of Navy card stock and then cut it again so that I got this fancy square shape.   I cut the largest  oval using the Ovals Originals Die from Whisper White card stock and stamped the tree image from the Lovely as a Tree stampset using Night of Navy ink.  I then used my Versamark ink pad to ink the whole of the oval.  I added Heat and Stick powder and heat set it and then added Dazzling Diamonds and heat set it again.  I love these shimmery panels, they look so Christmassy – even though we don’t get snow in Australia at Christmas (well not regularly anyway).  I attached the Whisper White Oval to the fancy Top Note and then attached it to the right hand side of the Whisper White card.  I inked “noel” from the Many Merry Messages stampset firstly with Versamark and then with Night of Navy ink and stamped onto Whisper White card.  I heat embossed the greeting using Clear Embossing Powder.  If you ink your stamp this way you can get coloured embossing and it doesn’t ruin your Versamark ink pad – just remember use the Versamark first and then the coloured ink pad.  I used my Large Oval Punch to  punch out the greeting and sponged the edges with Night of Navy ink.  I attached the greeting to the card front using dimensionals.  Lastly I tied a bow and added it to the card front above the greeting using Mini Glue Dots.  I am pretty happy with this although I have taken a little liberty with the sketch.

I’d love to hear what you think.

Bye for now, Kris.

Another beautiful card Kris. I also use a similar technique for the glittered image.
