Splitcoast Stampers

I found a Clean and Simple challenge from Splitcoast Stampers (browsing my saved newsletters).  The inspiration card by Loll Thompson is so gorgeous and so simple.  This is the second time that I have been inspired by Loll.  If you haven’t checked out her website, then do, it is filled with all things gorgeous and beautiful.

I actually made two cards for this challenge and this is the first one.  I kept it really “clean and simple” – Cutting, scoring and folding Whisper White card stock to create a one layer card.  I cut various sized circles from scrap card and used them to make a mask and then sponge the ink inside to create a background for my stamp.  The idea is that you start with the lightest colour and finish with the darkest.  I used So Saffron, Always Artichoke and Cajun Craze ink to sponge into my circles.  These colours come straight from the Colour Coach (simply a must if you need some colour inspiration).  Once I had finished sponging I inked the image from the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set with Early Expresso ink and stamped over the top of the sponged circles – I did use the Stamp-a-ma-jig to place the image inside the sponged circles.  So there it is – just about as simple as it gets.

For my second card I decided to step things up a little.  This time I used Sahara Sand, Bravo Burgundy and Pretty in Pink to sponge into my circles.  Again this colour combo comes from the Colour Coach.  Once I had finished sponging on the colour, I inked the stem image from the Field Flowers stamp set with Early Expresso ink and stamped over the sponged circles.  I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the “solid” image for both the large and small flower because I wanted them to be aligned with the stem properly.  I stamped the solid images lightly onto scrap paper first.   The “detail” images were both stamped over the top using Early Expresso ink.    I added a mat of Bravo Burgundy card stock to the Whisper White image panel and then attached it to the card front.

This is such a fun technique, I am sure that I will find lots of ways to use this on future projects.  I think it would be a great way to add an embellishment panel to a scrap page.
