Sunny Challenges Week 45
This week our challenge has been set by Vicky. She gave us a sketch and all we have to do is add ribbon. Well for some reason, this one had me thinking for quite a while. I sort of had an idea that I wanted to us our 1-1/4″ striped grosgrain ribbon and once this was in my head, I couldn’t shake the idea but didn’t quite know how to proceed.
Anyway I finally made a start and I think I am happy with what I achieved. I attached a piece of Basic Black Designer Paper from the Neutrals Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack to Cherry Cobbler card stock. I took a piece of Cherry Cobbler 1/2″ Seam Binding and pulled a thread in the centre to gather it and wrapped it around the lower edge. This piece was then attached to scored and folded Basic Black card stock. I inked the bird image from the Beautiful Season stamp set using Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Basic Black Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped onto Very Vanilla card stock. I attached the image panel to Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black card stock and then to the card from.
I wrapped Basic Black card stock with Basic Black 1-1/4″ Striped Grosgrain Ribbon and attached it to the card front using dimensionals and slightly covering the image panel. I stamped “merry Christmas” from the Petite Pairs stamp set using Cherry Cobbler ink onto Very Vanilla card stock and punched it using the Large Oval Punch and attached it to a Basic Black Scallop Oval before attaching to the card front using dimensionals.
Unfortunately I couldn’t get a photo of the card which showed the image panel clearly. It is really pretty and soft in person. Hopefully the close up will show you a little more detail of this gorgeous image.
I really love this card. It kind of has a vintage feel even though I didn’t use any vintage techniques.
Now it is time to visit Gwen and Vicky for some more inspiration. Once you have created your card, scrap page or 3d item, pop over to Sunny Challenges and Creations and add it to Mr. Linky. Can’t wait to see how you use ribbon with this sketch.
Bye for now, Kris.

I like the way everything is put together, especially the contrasting ribbons!

I love the softness of your colouring Kris. And great way to use the two different types of ribbon 🙂
