Finally a new creation

August 18, 2012

I had a little play tonight with a couple of things I have been wanting to try.  I have seen a couple of fish made using the Build a Blossom stamp set and thought they were very cute.  I have also wanted to play with a technique to use the Framelits Labels Collection dies to emboss instead of cutting.

I used Night of Navy ink to stamp the fish onto Very Vanilla card and then cut it out using the second smallest Framelits Labels Collection die.  Then to emboss, I laid the Standard Premium Crease Pad on to Tab 2.  Next I put the image panel, image up.  I used the smallest label and centred it inside the image panel with the cutting edge up.  Lastly I added a standard cutting plate and ran it through the Big Shot to get this lovely embossed panel around the fish.  I cut Night of Navy card using the third smallest label and attached the image panel.  I cut a strip of Night of Navy designer paper from the Regals Collection Designer Series Paper Stacks and wrapped one long edge using Night of Navy 1/4″ grosgrain ribbon.  I attached the designer series paper to Very Vanilla card which I embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing folder and then to scored and folded Night of Navy card.  Lastly I added a medium Basic Rhinestone to the fish for an eye.

Well what do you think?  Isn’t this fish really cute?  I know the card is quite simple but I really wanted to share these two ideas with you.  I am sure to be using the embossing technique a lot more in the future.  Especially now I know it is so simple.

Bye for now, Kris.

This is really great. I love the fish you made. Now I’ll have to have a fiddle with one. It’s DH’s birthday tomorrow and he loves fishing. I also like the effect of embossing with the framelits and edgelits. I use a different sandwich, but the result is the same. Thanks for sharing
