Holiday Catalogue Ornament

October 3, 2012

Ever since the Holiday Mini Catalogue was released, I have seen lots of variations on the ornament on the front cover.  Of course I had to make one for myself and this is my variation.  I kind of liked the symmetry of six petals, especially because the snowflake has six points on it.  Most of the ones I have seen have five petals, which didn’t seem quite right to me.

I used Night of Navy card to cut the large ornaments and Whisper White to cut the small ones.  There are four ornaments to each petal, six petals, 24 ornaments altogether for each colour.   I used some of the Night of Navy designer paper from the Regals Designer Series Paper Stacks to make the rosette in the middle and added a Regals Designer Button tied with Whisper White Bakers Twine to the centre.  Of course, the Snowflake is cut using Silver Glimmer Paper.

I decided to make my ornament double sided so that I could hang it between the tv room and the family room for Christmas.  That’s a total of 48 ornaments for each colour.  I did cut the Night of Navy and Whisper White card into strips so I could cut both colours together.   Now I just need to have a go at making one which is stamped first.

This second version is made from Cherry Cobbler card and is one that we are going to make in my upcoming Christmas Decoration Class.  More details will be posted on the Classes page soon.

I’d love to hear what you think.

Bye for now, Kris.

I love the idea of using 6 petals instead of the 5. You are correct it makes it look more balanced. Love the idea of making it double sided as well. Blue and White are just pefect together.
