Turning 4

October 31, 2012

I thought I would share the card I made for my beautiful granddaughter Jae, who turned 4 on Monday.

I started with a base of Cherry Cobbler and added a layer of Whisper White.  I attached a piece of Designer Paper from the Festival of Prints Designer Paper Stack to Marina Mist card which has one long edge punched using the Scallop Trim Border Punch.   This piece is attached to the left hand side of the card front.  I stamped the cupcake base from the Build a Cupcake stamp set onto Whisper White card using Early Expresso ink four times and punched them out using the Cupcake Builder Punch.  I stamped the frosting from the same set onto Whisper White card using Cherry Cobbler ink four times and punched them out using the Cupcake Builder Punch.  Using the same punch I cut Marina Mist card for the candles and Daffodil Delight card for the candle flames.  I attached the cupcake bases to the right hand side of the card and attached the frosting over the top using dimensionals.  The candles are tucked under the frosting.   I cut four number “4” from Cherry Cobbler card using my Timeless Type Alphabet (retired) and attached them to the designer panel.  I stamped “Happy Birthday” from the Create A Cupcake stampset using Cherry Cobbler ink onto Whisper White card.  I cut the greeting using the Framelits Bitty Banners and attached it to Cherry Cobbler card, trimming the ends to match.  The greeting is attached to the left hand side of the card front.  Once I had the card assembled I used Crystal Effects on the frosting and on the number fours to give the card a little more fun.

Of course I had to create a gift bag to match!  I used the same elements as the card but instead of adding the cupcakes I stamped the greeting from the Bring on the Cake stamp set and coloured in the letters using Marina Mist, Cherry Cobbler and Daffodil Delight Markers.

I think it turned out cute and Jae seemed to like it, however she was more interested in the contents of the bag.

Bye for now, Kris.

Your color combo is so happy for a little one’s birthday.
By the way, I love your Granddaughter’s name.
Your frosting looks lovely but I hope that Jae got to eat plenty of the real kind of frosting 🙂
