A new hat

November 3, 2012

or should I say my only hat.  I am not really a hat person so they are not something I have in abundance.  I have a couple of old caps that I can wear in the sun at the beach or around the pool but they are not really socially acceptable.

As all of you in Australia will know, the biggest race in the country is coming up next Tuesday.  Everyone who can will be attending some form of Melbourne Cup Luncheon and I am no exception.  Soooo, I needed some kind of hat and I decided that I would make one using Stampin’ Up! supplies.

My youngest granddaughter Ava helped me with my photo shoot and my lovely daughter Sarah took the photos.

I took a length of Crumb Cake 3-1/2″ Scalloped Tulle and ran a gathering thread along one edge.  I pulled it up into a loose circle and attached it to one of the Jumbo Sticky Rounds.  Then I took some Cherry Cobbler 3-1/2″ Scalloped Tulle and make a flower using another Jumbo Sticky Round.  I attached some Old Olive  1/2″ Scallop Dots Ribbon to make a couple of “leaves”.  I attached the flower into the centre of the gathered Crumb Cake Tulle.  Then I used a couple of pieces of material I had lying around and Multi Purpose Adhesive Sheet to attach the whole piece to a very narrow headband I found at one of my local $2.00 shops.

I think it is kind of nice, now I just need a dress, oh, and some shoes.

Bye for now, Kris.

Acutally, Kris, the hat isn’t ‘kinda nice’, it is lovely! Great use of the tulle.

What a great idea Kris. The ladies will love it when you front up with it on your head. Look out Melbourne!!!!!!
