Happy Father’s Day
I hope that you are spoiling your Dad’s today or helping your children to spoil their Dad. I am lucky enough to be sharing lunch with four Dads today – my father, my husband and my two sons-in-law.
We made a card at my Beachmere Class a couple of weeks ago using the Amazing Birthday stamp set and I just loved it, so I thought that I wouldn’t re-invent the wheel but use this for my Dad. The card is CASED from Nikki Spencer and I can’t thank her enough for sharing her gorgeous creation – it was so beautiful I didn’t change a thing. Anyway, I used this card as inspiration for the packaging for my gifts.
It’s pretty hard to buy something for my Dad, he has everything he needs and more, so I bought him a very large container of peanuts and also bought him a couple of golf balls. The container of peanuts was round and I decided to just decorate the container instead of wrapping it or putting it in a bag. I cut two strips down the length of an A4 sheet of Whisper White card and stamped it using the diamond pattern stamp from the Dotty Angles stamp set using Lost Lagoon ink.
Because this set is photopolymer it was so easy to line up the pattern along the length of the card. I glued the ends of the card together around the container and then added some stars in Basic Black. I cut the large one using the Stars Framelits Dies and I punched the smaller ones using the star punch in the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. I used Glue Dots to attach the stars to the stamped card. I also stamped the large stamp from the Amazing Birthday stamp set onto Whisper White card using Lost Lagoon ink and cut out the amazing part to attach to the centre of the large star. To finish off the decoration I made a Bow using the gorgeous Burlap Ribbon. The pieces for the Burlap Bow are held together with hot glue.
I used the new Gift Box Punch Board (page 5 in the Holiday Catalogue) to make a small box to hold the two golf balls. I used the directions on the board to make a box from a 8″ x8″ piece of Basic Black card. I decorated pieces of Whisper White card by stamping them with the diamond patterned stamp from the Dotty Angles stamp set using Lost Lagoon ink. I stamped the tag from the Merry Everything stamp set onto Whisper White card using Lost Lagoon ink. I cut around the outside line and attached it to a Basic Black tag punched using the Note Tag Punch. This stamp set and Tag Punch come as a bundle, so you get to save 15% when you buy them together. The tag is attached to the front of the box.
I love how co-ordinated everything is don’t you?
If you haven’t seen how the Gift Box Punch Board works, take a look at this video by Stampin’ Up. You get directions to make 15 different sized boxes in inches and in centimetres printed right onto the board. I actually found some retired 12″ x 12″ card and made each of the boxes and an additional one that I worked out by reversing the directions.
Have a fantastic Father’s Day.
Bye for now,
Kris
