Happy Birthday Elyssa
My beautiful granddaughter Elyssa turns 10 today and I wanted to share the card I made for her with you. I found a card with a fabulous fold by Melissa Davies complete with downloadable tutorial. The card uses the very beautiful Picture Perfect Party Designer Series paper.
This paper is so gorgeous I was afraid to cut it! The card uses 8 different pieces of this designer series paper which I cut to 2″ x 4″ because I wanted the cuts to be a little more economical. I attached the designer series paper to Basic Black 2-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ and then to each of the panels on the card. I cut the letters from Basic Black card using the Large Letters Framelits Dies and the “happy” from Whisper White card using the Happy Birthday Thinlits Die.
I stamped each of the Pandas from the Party Pandas stamp set onto Whisper White card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and cut them out. I coloured the balloon, the heart and the party had using a Berry Burst Stampin’ Write Marker. The panda with the balloon is attached to the panel with the “I”. The panda with the placard is attached behind the “T” and the panda with the party hat is attached behind the “A”.
To gift the card you need to create a box using the Lots to Love Box Framelits Dies. I cut my box from Whisper White card. I cut a circle from another of the patters in the Picture Perfect Party Designer Series Paper using the Layering Circle Framelits Dies and attached it to a Basic Black scalloped circle cut using the same dies. I stamped the panda with the balloon once more onto scrap Whisper White card and coloured the balloon using a Berry Burst Stampin’ Write Marker.
I stamped “happy” from the Party Panda stamp set onto Whisper White card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I punched the greeting using the Classic Label Punch and then punched the left hand edge using the Triple Banner Punch. I attached the greeting to a slightly wider piece of Basic Black card (1.2cm wide) and trimmed the right hand edge straight. I attached the banner to the back of the balloon string and then attached the panda to the designer series paper. I did add a mini dimensional behind the left hand edge of the banner to give it a little more dimension. I cut “birthday” from Basic Black card using the Happy Birthday Thinlits Die and attached it across the lower part of the designer series paper circle.
I am so happy to use this beautiful designer series paper on such a lovely card. Thank you again to Melissa for sharing such a great card and being so generous with the dimensions.
Bye for now,
Kris

Watercoloured Blooming Basket
Since I was playing with colouring, I decided that I hadn’t used my Watercolour Pencils in a while and used them the the Blossoming Basket stamp set. I embossed Whisper White card using the Basket Weave Embossing Folder and attached it to scored and folded Daffodil Delight card. I stamped the Basket onto Whisper White card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured the image with Green, Yellow and Brown Watercolour Pencils and used a Blender Pen to smooth out the colour.
I punched two strips of Daffodil Delight card using the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch and attached one strip to each side of the stamped panel before attaching to the card front. I stamped “thinking of you” from the Window Shopping stamp set onto a strip of Whisper White card using Crumb Cake ink. I punched both ends of the card using the Triple Banner Punch.
I sponged lightly around the edges of the card using Daffodil Delight ink and attached it to the card front with a dimensional underneath the ends and snail in the centre.
To decorate the inside of the card, I punched a narrow strip of Daffodil Delight card with the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch and attached it behind one long edge of Whisper White card embossed using the Basket Weave Embossing Folder.
I think the colouring using the Watercolour Pencils is very vibrant and maybe I need to get my Watercolour Pencils out a little more often. What do you think?
Bye for now,
Kris

Birthday Memory Keeping
I am still working my way through 2016 and thought I would share with you this double page layout I created to showcase my granddaughter Elyssa’s birthday. We celebrated the event at our house after school. The grandchildren love getting together so any event is filled with fun and laughter. I die cut a length of Melon Mambo card using the border from the Seasonal Layers thinlits Dies. The border is not quite 12″ long so I attached it to both ends of a piece of Designer Series paper (last year’s Sale-A-Bration DSP) and left a gap in the middle.
The Designer Series Paper is attached to 12″ x 12″ Whisper White card. I cut the word “wish” and the letters for BIG from Melon Mambo card using the Cupcakes Cutouts Framelits Dies and the Large Letters Framelits Dies. I attached the photo of Elyssa to Whisper White card and then to the left hand side of the Designer Series Paper. I wrote my journalling onto a grid card and attached to Bermuda Bay card. I cut the cupcake from Smoky Slate and Bermuda Bay card using the Cupcakes Cutouts Framelits Dies. I sponged around the edges of each piece with the matching ink before attaching them to the page to cover the break in the Melon Mambo border.
I stamped the candles onto the lower right hand edge of the Whisper White card using the images from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set and Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, Smoky Slate, Tangerine Tango and Daffodil Delight ink.
The second page uses the same Designer Series paper which has the same Melon Mambo border. The Designer Series paper is attached to the 12″ x 12″ Whisper White card. The photos are attached to whisper White card and then the Designer Series paper.
I wrote my journalling once more onto a grid card which is attached to Bermuda Bay card before being attached to the Whisper White card. The cupcake is cut and sponged as before and attached to cover the gap in the Melon Mambo border. The words have been stamped using retired Project Life stamp sets. I don’t sell of any retired stamp sets or dies that I think will be useful for my Memory Keeping.
I’d love hear what you think.
Bye for now,
Kris

One more Comparison
While I was creating the two cards I shared with you in my last post, I decided to create one more duo using a slightly different layout. This time I attached the Petal Garden Designer Series paper across the centre of scored and folded Thick Whisper White card.
I stamped the large flower from the Petal Garden stamp set onto Whisper White card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured the image using Pool Party and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. This time when I cut the flower out, I cut away the stem, keeping the leaves.
I cut a square from Whisper White card and a scalloped square from Pool Party card using the Layering Squares Framelits Dies. The pieces are attached to each other and then the card front using dimensionals. I liked the look of a diamond shape rather than a square on the card.
I attached the two leaves to the back of the flower before attaching to the centre of the Whisper White square. To decorate the inside, I once more stamped, coloured and cut out the small flower.
Simple but I believe sweet.
The second card is created in the same manner but the images are stamped in Archival Black ink and coloured using Sweet Sugarplum and Old Olive ink and an Aqua Pinter. Once more I am unable to choose which type of colouring gives the best result. I think they both look great. What about you?
bye for now,
Kris

Graceful Garden Duo
I have had the Graceful Garden stamp set for a very long time and although I love it I haven’t used it until I created this card. I stamped the background stamp from the Graceful Garden stamp set onto the lower left hand side of scored and folded Thick Whisper White card using Pool Party ink. I cut a strip of Petal Garden Designer Series paper and attached it to the left hand side of the card front. I cut an oval from Whisper White card and a scalloped oval from Pool Party card using the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies and attached them to each other and then the card front using dimensionals.
I stamped the large flower from the Graceful Garden stamp set onto Whisper White card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured the image using Pool Party and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends.
The flower is cut out and attached to the oval with a couple of small dimensionals behind the bottom of the stem.
To decorate the inside of the card, I stamped the small floral image onto scrap Whisper Whtie card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, coloured it with the Pool Party and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends and cut it out.
The flower is the only embellishment on the inside of the card.
I wanted to create another card but this time colouring the flower using the Sweet Sugarplum and Old Olive ink pads and an Aqua Painter. I wanted to see which colouring technique gave the best finished look and guess what, I love them both. The second card is created in exactly the same way, I stamped the images in Basic Black Archival ink and coloured them using Sweet Sugarplum and Old Olive ink and an Aqua Painter.
Which one do you like best? The Pool Party flower coloured with the Stampin’ Blends or the Sweet Sugarplum flower coloured with ink and an Aqua Painter?
Bye for now,
Kris

Freshly Made Sketch 324
I love clean and simple lines on a card, especially for males. The sketch at Freshly Made recently was perfect one for this type of card. I decided that the Epic Celebration stamp set which you can earn for free during Sale-a-Bration would be perfect. I attached Whisper White card to Bermuda Bay card and then scored and folded Night of Navy card. I attached a length of the Basics Pack 3 Washi Tape to a narrow strip of Whisper White card and then to the card front. I attached a length of another of the Basics Pack 3 Washi Tapes to another, slightly wider strip of Whisper White card and then the card front.
I cut a Whisper White circle using the Layering Circle Framelits Dies. I stamped the greeting from the Epic Celebration stamp set onto the Whisper White circle using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
I attached the stamped circle to a Smoky Slate scalloped circle cut using the same dies and attached it to the card front using dimensionals. I stamped the guitar from the Epic Celebration stamp set onto scrap Whisper White card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I coloured the image using Bermuda Bay and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends and cut it out. I attached the guitar to the stamped Whisper White circle.
To decorate the inside of the card, I stamped “you’re awesome” from the Epic Celebration stamp set onto Whisper White card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I attached a piece of each of the Washi Tapes used on the card front underneath the greeting.
I love how this card turned out, don’t you? Unfortunately I missed the deadline for this sketch but thank’s Freshly Made for the inspiration.
Bye for now,
Kris

More Free Product
From the 16th of February till the end of Sale-A-Bration on the 31st March, Stampin’ Up! have added additional free product that you can earn with a qualifying sale to the already fantastic selection. Today I am sharing with you a couple of cards I made using the Blossoming Basket Bundle. This bundle includes the stamp set and the Basket Weave Dynamic Embossing Folder.
You need to spend $180.00 (Aus) to earn this bundle for free but the embossing folder will also be available in the next Annual Catalogue. So this is your chance to get you hands on this gorgeous embossing folder early. Anyway onto my card. I stamped the greeting from the Rose Wonder stamp set onto the top right hand corner of Whisper White card using Calypso Coral ink.
I embossed Calypso Coral card using the Basket Weave Embossing Folder and attached it to the stamped Whisper White card. I coloured a length of Whisper White 1/4″ Organza Ribbon using the Dark Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blend and wrapped it across the top of the embossed card and tied a knot.
(Isn’t it fantastic that we can use the Stampin’ Blends to change the colour of our ribbon – Love it.) The Whisper White card is attached to scored and folded Crumb Cake Card. I stamped the flower basket image from the Blossoming Basket stamp set onto Whisper White card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The image is coloured using the Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. I cut out the image and attached it to a Whisper White circle and then a Crumb Cake scalloped circle cut using the Layering Circle Framelits Dies.
The image panel is attached to the card front using dimensionals.
To decorate the inside of the card, I embossed a narrow strip of Calypso Coral card using the Basket Weave Embossing Folder. I attached a narrow strip of Crumb Cake card behind one long edge and attached it to Whisper White card. I stamped the butterfly from the Blossoming Basket stamp set three times onto the left hand side of the Whisper White card.
The butterfly is coloured using the Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends before attaching the panel to the inside of the card.
This card is so beautiful and I hope my friend loves it as much as I do. In fact I loved it so much, I made another card in exactly the same manner using Rich Razzleberry card and Stampin’ Blends. I also changed the colour of the contrast from Crumb Cake to Smoky Slate which just looks fantastic. Then I decided that I would step it up a little and this time I used Bermuda Bay card and Stampin’ Blends. The card base is once more Crumb Cake and the greeting is from the Blossoming Basket stamp set. This time i stamped the basket twice so that I could fussy cut a second set of flowers and attach them over the top using dimensionals. This gives it just a little more dimension.
I’d love to hear what you think of this fantastic bundle and these cards.
Bye for now,
Kris

Double Embossed Birthday
This is the last card I created using the Double Embossing Technique which you can learn by watching this great video by BJ Peters. For this card I embossed the left hand side of Whisper White card using the vine image from the Petal Pair Embossing Folder. I stamped the greeting from the Vertical Greetings stamp set onto the right hand edge of the embossed card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The embossed card is attached to scored and folded Daffodil Delight card. I used the floral image from the Petal Pair Embossing Folder to create my Double Embossed Panel.
This panel is embossed with Gold Embossing Powder and coloured using the Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Pink Pirouette, Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. I cut out the floral image and attached it to the card front over the edge of the embossing.
To decorate the inside of the card, I embossed a narrow section of the left hand side of Whisper White card using the vine image from the Petal Pair Embossing Folder. I punched a piece of card using the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch and attached it over the edge of the embossing.
This card is ever so pretty and my embossing didn’t smudge too much to spoil the finished image. I hope I have inspired you to give this technique a try. I must also say a big Thank You to BJ Peters for the wonderful video tutorial.

Kris

Simply Amazing
Here is another card I created using the Double Embossing Technique. The layout is pretty similar to the card I shared yesterday but with different colours. I embossed Whisper White card using the Brick Wall Embossing Folder before attaching it to Cherry Cobbler card and then scored and folded Thick A4 Whisper White card. I cut an oval from Whisper White card using the Layering Oval Framelits Dies and stamped “you are simply” from the Amazing You stamp set using Memento Basic Black ink.
I attached the greeting panel to a Cherry Cobbler scollaped oval cut using the same dies. Before attaching the greeting panel to the card front I attached a length of Gold Metallic Thread to the back. I double embossed the floral Petal Pair Embossing Folder following BJ Smith’s instructions. The image is embossed using Gold Embossing Powder and coloured using Cherry Cobbler, Pink Pirouette and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. I attached the image to the stamped panel.
Lastly I cut the word “amazing” from Gold Foil using the Celebrate You Thinlits Dies and attached it to the greeting panel.
I kept the inside of the card simple by punching a length of Cherry Cobbler card using the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch. The punched border is attached behind a narrow strip of Whisper White card which I embossed using the Brick Wall Embossing folder.
Simple but I think this one packs a little more punch than the one yesterday. I think it’s the Gold Foil that makes the difference, don’t you?
Bye for now,
Kris

Coral Birthday
I needed to make a card for a friend’s birthday and since I had the Amazing You stamp set out on my desk, I put it to good use. I stamped the floral image from this stamp set onto the upper left hand corner of Whisper White card using Wild Wasabi ink. I cut Basic Black card using the largest scalloped square from the Layering Squares Framelits Dies and attached it to the Whisper White card, partially covering the stamped image. The Whisper White card is attached to scored and folded Calypso Coral card. I stamped “you” and “are simply” from the Amazing You stamp set onto Whisper White card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
I cut out the greeting using the 2nd largest of the circles from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies. I cut “amazing” from Gold Foil using the Celebrate You Thinlits Dies and attached it beneath the greetings. I stamped the floral image twice onto scrap Whisper White card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured the images using the Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends. I cut out one full flower and one partial flower. I attached the partial flower to the full flower using a dimensional. The flower is attached to the card front so that it covers the stamped flower.
I added a large Gold Faceted Gem to the centre of the flower as well.
To decorate the inside of the card I stamped the floral image onto the lower left hand corner of Whisper White card using Wild Wasabi ink. I stamped the floral image onto scrap Whisper White card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured the image using the Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends. I cut out the flower and attached it over the stamped image.
Some of the pieces for this card were in my “another day” bag, which contains left over shapes and die cuts that didn’t make it onto whatever project I was working on but I love how it came together. It is so pretty that I created the same card using several different coloured flowers.
Bye for now,
Kris
