Sunny Challengs Sketch 004

August 21, 2011

Well I cannot believe another week has flown by and it is time for a new challenge at Sunny Challenges and CreationsGwen, Vicky and I are really pleased with the support we are getting for our challenge blog.

This week the sketch is brought to us by Gwen .

In addition to providing the sketch for us to follow, Gwen has set two additional challenges.  The theme of the card must reflect Christmas and we must use an embossing folder.

Well this is really a great challenge because we all always need more Christmas cards, so I am looking forward to seeing lots of creations from you all this week.

I used Always Artichoke to create the 3 rectangle pieces for the layout and embossed them all using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.   I attached the embossed Always Artichoke card to Very Vanilla card and wrapped it with the gorgeous new Chocolate Chip 1/2″ Scallop Dots Ribbon .  This whole piece was then attached  to the Ridinghood Red base card.  I made an Elegant Bow and attached it to the ribbon using Mini Glue Dots.  I inked the large bird/leaf image from the Beautiful Season stampset using Always Artichoke, Ridinghood Red, Crumb Cake and Chocolate Chip Stampin’ Write Markers and then stamped onto a Very Vanilla Oval.   (I used the largest oval which can be cut using the Ovals Originals Die.) I cut a strip of Ridinghood Red card 1.5cm wide by the length of an A4 sheet of cardstock and punched one long edge using the Scallop Trim Border Punch.  I snipped the unpunched side up to the punched pattern, taking care not to snip through the patterned edge.  I applied snail to the back of the oval around the entire edge and then attached the punched cardstock behind to make a nice frame for the image.  I attached the image panel to the card front using dimensionals.  I stamped “very merry” from the Short and Sweet stampset using Ridinghood Red ink onto Very Vanilla card and punched the greeting using the Word Window Punch.  I attached the greeting to a Modern Label punched from Ridinghood Red card and then attached it to the front of the card.

If you need some additional inspiration have a look at what Gwen and Vicky have created.

Ok so now off you go and create your masterpiece and then pop on over the Sunny Challenges and Creations and add it to Mr. Linky.  I cannot wait to see what you create this week.

Bye for now, Kris.

You are smart to border your oval with that Scallop Trim Border Punch. Pretty card!
