SC 012/11

October 16, 2011

Here we go again with another great sketch at Sunny Challenges and Creations.  This one is brought to us by Vicky and all she wants us to add is flowers.  I actually was a bit stumped to begin with but I love how the card came out in the end.

To create the split panel, I cut a piece of Very Vanilla card stock and stamped the reed image from Inspired by Nature using Certainly Celery ink.  Once I had stamped the Very Vanilla card stock I cut it into three sections.  I attached the panels to  Crumb Cake card stock.  I attached a strip of Certainly Celery card stock which has one long edge punched using the Scallop Trim Border Punch to lower edge of the card front.   I wrapped the Certainly Celery section with Very Vanilla 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon.  I pierced three holes using my Paper Piercer and Mat Pack and added Rose Red brads from the Subtles Brads.  I stamped “happy birthday” from the On Your Birthday stampset on to the right hand side using my Stamp-a-ma-jig.  Using the Stamp-a-ma-jig enabled me to stamp the greeting three times in exactly the same spot so that it had some depth of colour.  Gotta love that.  I then attached this piece to the scored and folded Rose Red card stock.

I inked the flower image from the Inspired by Nature stampset using Rose Red, Certainly Celery and Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped onto Whisper White card stock.  I cut the image out and attached it to the card front using dimensionals.

To get the lighter effect on the “crown” of the flower, I firstly inked it with the Rose Red Stampin’ Write Marker, wiped it off a little with my finger and then used the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker.

I hope that you are going to play along with us this week.   We love seeing your entries and I’m sure you must have one flower stampset somewhere in your collection.

Don’t forget to visit Vicky and Gwen and see what inspiration they have for you, then, once your have made your card pop in to Sunny Challenges and Creations and add your creation to Mr. Linky.

Bye for now, Kris.
