Sunny Challenge – Week 25

January 29, 2012

This week our challenge has been set by Vicky.  We have a great sketch and a colour combination of Pink Pirouette and Early Expresso.  Pink Pirouette is not one of my favourite colours – I think it is a little washed out – so I decided to create a vintage style card.

I cut pieces of Pink Pirouette designer series paper from the Subtles Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack – the long narrow piece is striped and the other pieces are polka dot at the top and bottom and the reverse side of the polka dots in the middle.  I sponged the edges of all the designer paper using Early Expresso ink, scrunched them into a ball, opened them and then sponged Early Expresso ink over the top in a circular motion to add ink to the creases.

I kind of flattened them out and attached them to the scored and folded Early Expresso base card.   I cut Whisper White card using the largest oval on the Ovals Originals Die, stamped the greeting from the Petite Pairs stamp set using Early Expresso ink and then sponged the edges using Early Expresso ink.  I stamped the large and small flower from the Vintage Vogue stamp set using Pink Pirouette ink onto scrap Whisper White card stock and cut them out.  I sponged the edges with Early Expresso ink and scrunched each of them into a ball and opened them again.  I punched 3 Early Expresso flowers using the flower punch from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack.  I stacked the flowers with the Early Expresso flower on top, pierced a hole with my paper piercer and then inserted a medium Clear Rhinestone Brad.  I attached these around the oval using Mini Glue Dots.  I cut Pink Pirouette card stock using the Beautiful Wings Embosslit.

Using the largest butterfly I sponged the edges with Early Expresso ink and then sponged ink in a circular motion over the top of the embossing using the same ink.  I added 3 Basic Rhinestones to the centre of the butterfly and attached it to the oval using a Mini Glue Dot in the centre and a Dimensional under each wing.  The Oval was added to the front of the card using dimensionals.

I love how much texture there is on this card, what do you think?  Does it look vintagey?  I’d love your feed back.

Anyway now it is time to check out what Shirley and Vicky have for you in the way of inspiration.  Once you have created your card, pop over to Sunny Challenges and Creations and add it to Mr. Linky.  I look forward as always to seeing your gorgeous work.

Bye for now, Kris.

This is a beautiful vintage looking card. I love the Vintage Vogue set. I wish SU would make a punch for this.
