Sunny Challenges Week 35
Vicky has set the challenge this week at Sunny Challenges & Creations. She has provided a great sketch and asked that we add “mothers”. Since it is almost Mother’s Day, I think that this should appeal to quite a few of you who need to make a card and get it off to Mum.
I attached Melon Mambo card stock to Very Vanilla card stock and then embossed the whole piece using the Flower Garden Embossing Folder which was released in the Summer Mini and is now available as a carry-over item. I cut Basic Gray card stock using the Two Tags Die and attached it to the embossed card stock. I wrapped Old Olive 5/8″ Satin Ribbon around the lower edge of the embossed card stock and then attached the whole piece to scored and folded Old Olive card stock. I cut a sliver of Melon mambo card stock, tied it through a Very Vanilla button and then attached it to the left hand side of the ribbon using a Mini Glue Dot. I printed “mother” on my computer and punched it out using the Word Window Punch. I sponged the edges with Basic Gray ink and then attached it to the right hand side of the Ribbon. I punched three 1-3/4″ Scallop Circles from Melon Mambo card stock. I separated the layers scrunched the card stock and then stacked them onto a brad before scrunching them again. Once opened out you get this gorgeous “carnation” effect. The flower is attached to the bottom of the tag using Mini Glue Dots.
Can you believe this is the first time I have used this embossing folder!! Don’t know why I waited so long, it is absolutely gorgeous.
Anyway, now it is time to see what Tess and Vicky have created this week. Once you have made your card, scrap page or 3D item, pop over to Sunny Challenges and Creations and add it to Mr. Linky. This challenge should get lot’s of you thinking about Mother’s Day so I look forward to seeing some fantastic creations.
Bye for now, Kris.
What a beautiful card and use of color! The flower gives a “shabby sheik” touch with the distressing. Great job!

Kris, I love your choice of colours. That embossing folder hasn’t ever appealed to me, but I must say it looks BEAUTIFUL!! Love the way you’ve positioned that glorious flower on the tag – great idea. Lovely, lovely card!

Beautiful Kris. I have only used this folder once & like you, can’t understand why – it is such a lovely folder. I really like how you have used it on this card. Of course, your flower is just down right beautiful. Have a great Easter!

This is just gorgoeus Kris. I love your colour combination and learnt something new – cutting a sliver of card to use as thread/ribbon. Would never have thought of that. TFS
