Sunny Challenge 59

September 16, 2012

This week Vicky set out challenge and as well as providing a sketch, we had to make an easel card.  If you do not know how to create one of these, there is an excellent tutorial at Splitcoast Stampers. I decided to borrow an idea from a card I found on Pinterest to make the focal image panel for this challenge.  The original card was created by Paula Dobson.

I stamped the intricate floral image from the Mixed Bunch stamp set onto Glossy White card using Versamark ink and embossed it using White Embossing Powder.  Then I sponged the centre of the flowers using Night of Navy ink, the petals using Marina Mist ink and the rest of the white space is covered with Bashful Blue ink.  The mat of Night of Navy card is actually two narrow strips, one of which I punched along one long edge using the Scallop Trim Border Punch (saves on card stock and nobody can see that it doesn’t go all the way).  The piece was than attached to Whisper White card.  I stamped Merry Christmas from the Petite Pairs stamp set using Night of Navy ink, punched it using the Large Oval Punch,  attached it to  a Night of Navy Scallop Oval and then to the card front.  I cut the smallest and middle sized snowflake from Silver Glimmer paper using the Snow Flurry Bigz Die.  I sponged over the snowflakes using Night of Navy ink to blend in with my colour scheme and attached them to the card front.  This whole piece was then attached to the scored and folded easel card base.  I created a narrower version of the emboss resist panel, added the Night of Navy mat as before and then attached it to the base of the easel using dimensionals to hold my image upright.

As you can see I really do love the Navy/White combination!

Now for some more inspiration visit Vicky, Gwen and Christine, then when you have made your card, scrap page or 3d item, pop over to Sunny Challenges and Creations and add it to Mr. Linky.  I will be really interested to see what you can create for this challenge.

Bye for now, Kris.
