A Word Play Wedding

September 7, 2011

This is another card I made for this week’s challenge at Sunny Challenges and Creations.

I wheeled a piece of Whisper White card using the Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel and Basic Black ink and added a Basic Black cardstock mat.  I stamped “happy I do day” from the Word Play stampset onto Whisper White card using Basic Black ink.  I punched the greeting using the Extra Large Oval and then punched two more Extra Large Ovals from Real Red card and attached them behind the greeting.  I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch a hole on either side of the greeting and then thread Whisper White 5/8″ Organza Ribbon through the holes and attached it to the back of the wheeled piece.  The greeting is popped up on dimensionals.  This piece was then attached to a scored and folded Whisper White card.   I used the Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit to create a Basic Black (groom) and Real Red (bride) heart.  I punched two Full Hearts from Whisper White card and then embossed them in the Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit.  I attached the Whisper White Full Hearts to the Real Red and Basic Black Scalloped Hearts.  I made a “tie” from Basic Black 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon and a small Clear Rhinestone Brad.  I attached the tie to the Basic Black heart using a Mini Glue Dot and then attached the black heart to the card front.  I pierced three holes in the Real Red heart and added three small Rhinestone Brads.  I attached the Red Heart over the Black Heart using dimensionals.

I really like this version of the heart “bride” and “groom”.  If you haven’t already played along with this challenge, there is still time.

Bye for now, Kris.

A Christmas Sketch

September 6, 2011

I created this card using the sketch challenge 3 at Craft Project Central.  I found it a little tricky in the beginning but in the end I think it came together rather nicely.

I embossed a piece of Whisper White card using the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  I stamped the greeting from the Word Play stampset onto Whisper White card using Chocolate Chip ink.  I attached a narrow strip of Chocolate Chip card behind a piece of Real Red Designer Paper from the Brights Designer Paper Patterns Stack and then attached it to the Whisper White card below the greeting.  This piece was then matted on a piece of Real Red card and then attached to the right hand side of the front of the embossed Whisper White card.  I wrapped a piece of Chocolate Chip 1/2″ Scallop Dots Ribbon around the Whisper White piece.   I stamped the images from the Tree Trimmings stampset onto Whisper White card, two using Chocolate Chip ink and one using Real Red ink and then cut the images out.  I attached linen thread behind the images. added dimensionals and then attached them to the front of the card making sure that the thread was attached behind the card.  The whole piece was then attached to a folded and scored Real Red card.

I love this card and would probably make more of the same layout, perhaps using different colours.

I’d love to hear what you think?

Bye for now, Kris.

Clean and Simple Christmas

September 5, 2011

I created this card using the sketch at Clean and Simple.  I used the newly released Easy Events stampset.  I love this set, which is unusual because it needs to be coloured and you know I am not a big fan of colouring.

I stamped “seasons greetings” from the Many Merry Messages stampset onto Whisper White card.  I gathered one end of a piece of Old Olive 5/8″ Satin Ribbon and attached it to the right hand side making sure that the gathers were at the bottom of the card front.  I attached the Whisper White card to a scored and folded base card of Real Red.  I stamped the “christmas” image from the Easy Events stampset onto Whisper White card using Basic Black ink.  I coloured the image using my Real Red and Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers and then punched the image with the 1 3/4″ circle punch.  I attached the image to a Real Red 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle and then to the card front over the ribbon using dimensionals.

I’m a bit undecided about this card.  I think it needs something but I’m not sure what.  What do you think?

Bye for now, Kris.

SC 06/11

September 4, 2011

It’s time for another sketch at Sunny Challenges and Creations and  this week  Vicky is the creative genius.  The second part of this week’s sketch is to use a Wheel, any wheel, standard, jumbo or builder.  Simple!

For my inspiration card I decided to make a Christmas card using traditional colours.

I wheeled the Soft Holly standard wheel over Whisper White card using Old Olive ink and sponged the edges with the same ink.  I layered the wheeled panel onto Real Red cardstock.  I stamped “merry christmas” from the Easy Events stampset onto Whisper White card using Real Red ink and punched it out with the Decorate Label Punch.  I punched a Decorative Label from Real Red card, cut it in half and attached one half behind the top and one half behind the bottom of the greeting Decorative Label.  I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch a hole on each side of the greeting and threaded Real Red 1/4″ grosgrain ribbon through the holes and attached the ribbon at the back of the wheeled panel.  The greeting is actually popped up on dimensionals.  This whole piece was then added to the front of a folded Whisper White card.  I punched 2 Real Red 5 Petal Flowers and 1 Old Olive 5 Petal Flower and scored each flower down the centre of each petal.  The folded the petals along the score line so that they had some dimension.  I sponged Old Olive ink along the fold lines on the Old Olive 5 Petal Flower and also on the outside of the petals to give it a little dimension.  I sponged Real Red ink on the outside of the petals on each Real Red 5 Petal Flower.  I attached one Real Red flower on top of the other using a dimensional.  I trimmed 2 petals from the Old Olive 5 Petal Flower and attached it to the back of the Real Red flowers using a Mini Glue Dot.  I attached the whole flower to the card front using Mini Glue Dots.  Lastly I added 3 medium Basic Rhinestones to the centre of the flower.

I really love this card, it is simple but has lots of impact and I love all the white space.

To see what Gwen and Vicky have created to inspire you pop on over to Sunny Challenges and Creations.  Then once you have created your card add it to Mr. Linky.   Everyone has at least one wheel, so it should be an easy challenge to enter.  I’m looking forward to seeing lots of beautiful entries this week.

Bye for now, Kris.

Nature Walk Meets Stamping 411

September 3, 2011

I created this card using the sketch at Stamping 411 this week.  I used a set which I love but haven’t used very much.

I used Early Expresso for the base card and added a layer of Very Vanilla which has been stamped using the En Francaise background Stamp and Early Expresso ink.  I didn’t press too hard when I stamped the image because I wanted it to be a little haphazard.  I sponged the edges with Early Expresso ink and also sponged some Early Expresso ink all over the Very Vanilla card to give a slightly vintage look.  I embossed a piece of Night of Navy card using the Petals-A-Plenty Embossing Folder and then sponged Early Expresso ink over the embossed image and around the edges of the card.  I attached this to a piece of Early Expresso card and then wrapped it with a piece of Victoria Crochet Trim which I tied with 3 knots.  The panel was then attached to the right hand side of the card front.  I stamped the bird cage image from the  Nature Walk stampset onto Very Vanilla card using Early Expresso ink (cardstock cut with the Circle Scissors).  I sponged Early Expresso ink around the edges and around the image.  I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch a hole through the top of the birdcage image and then used Early Expresso 1/8″ taffeta ribbon to create a “hanger” for the cage.  I attached the image panel to a circle of Cherry Cobbler card and then attached it the left hand side of the card front using dimensionals.

I’m not sure about the embossing on the Night of Navy card, I think it might have looked better if I had stamped the En Francaise background instead.  What do you think?

Bye for now, Kris.

Another Baby Card

September 2, 2011

Here is another card I made for the Challenge at Sunny Challenges & Creations this week.

My base card is Marina Mist – this is the colour we had to use along with the sketch.  I punched one long edge on a narrow strip of Marina Mist card using the Scallop Trim Border and attached it behind a piece of Bashful Blue card and then attached it to a piece of Whisper White card.  I ran the whole piece through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder and then attached it to the base card.  I stamped the giraffe image from the Fox and Friends stampset onto Whisper White card using Bashful Blue ink and punched it out using the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch.  I cut a circle of Bashful Blue card using my Circle Scissors and attached it behind the image.  I cut the last layer from Marina Mist card using the Big Shot and my brand new Perfect Pennants Die.  I attached the image piece to the card front using dimensionals.  I stamped “welcome baby” from the Short and Sweet stampset onto Whisper White card using Marina Mist ink and punched it out using the Large Oval Punch.  I attached a Marina Mist Scallop Oval mat and then attached it to the card front using dimensionals.

There is still time to play along this week, I’d love to see your creations.

Bye for now, Kris.

A Special Baby Card

September 1, 2011

My Aunty became a grandmother for the first time recently and I wanted to send her a special card.  I used the sketch from Techostamper and a stampset that I pre-ordered from the new Idea Book and Catalogue called Easy Events.

I used a base card of Bashful Blue and added a layer of Whisper White which I embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  I stamped the “for baby” image onto Whisper White card using Black Stazon ink and used my circle scissors to cut it out.  I stamped the image using the same ink onto Bashful Blue, So Saffron and Wild Wasabi cardstock.  I cut the umbrella and the water from the Bashful Blue card, the duck body from the So Saffron card and the hat from the Wild Wasabi card and then attached the pieces over the image stamped onto the Whisper White card.  I punched a 2 3/8″ circle from Bashful Blue card and added it behind the image.  I punched a strip of Bashful Blue card using the Pinking Hearts Border punch, attached it to Whisper White card and then embossed it using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  I attached this to a Bashful Blue mat which also has the bottom edge punched using the Pinking Hearts Border.  I attached this to the card front using dimensionals and then attached the image over the top again using dimensionals.

You can see the paper piercing in this image.  I think I am going to love this stampset.

I’d love to hear what you think.

Bye for now, Kris.
