Upsy Daisy on Holidays

April 30, 2009

Well Ron(DH) and I are currently away in our caravan and are presently at beautiful Port Macquarie on the NSW Mid North Coast.   I haven’t been crafting in the caravan and am missing so much my supplies but never mind.  I do however have a card for you today which I made before I left home.

img_4612-edited-compressed-watermarkedThis card uses the beautiful stampset Upsy Daisy.  The base cardstock is Kiwi Kiss.  The beautiful Daisy image has been stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Tangerine Tango.  This piece was mounted onto Kiwi Kiss Cardstock and then a larger piece of Tangerine Tango which I have torn across the bottom.  I then wrapped the Kiwi Kiss striped grosgrain ribbon around it.  The greeting is from the same set and I have stamped it onto Whisper White cardstock using Tangerine Tango ink.  I then used the large oval to punch it out and mounted it to the card using dimensionals.  I am loving this set and also the new in-colours.

I will be back shortly to let you know the exciting things coming up in May from Stampin’ Up!.

Bird on a Branch

April 24, 2009

I made this card using a new set from the current catalogue Bird on a Branch.  The main reason I bought this set is because it has a spatter stamp similar to the one that was in the retired set Itty Bitty Backgrounds.  However, I am finding that I really like this bird sitting on the branch.  I think it is very tranquil and I am sure that I will get a lot of use from this set.

img_4610-edited-compressed-watermarked

I stamped the branch onto Whisper White cardstock using Night of Navy ink.  Then using my stamp-a-ma-jig to position perfectly, I stamped the bird also in Night of Navy ink so that it is sitting on the branch.  Then also using the stamp-a-ma-jig I stamped the “flowers” over the branch using Bashful Blue ink.  I then used the spatter stamp and Bashful Blue ink to stamp around the bird and the branch.  I distressed the edges of the Whisper White card using my cutter kit and mounted it to a piece of Bashful Blue cardstock which also had the edges distressed.

I folded a piece of Bashful Blue cardstock to form the base of the card and stamped the front with the splatter image using Bashful Blue ink.  I then took a piece of Night of Navy cardstock and wraped a length of striped grosgrain ribbon around the lower part of the card.  I punched 3 Bashful Blue circles using the 1/4″ circle punch (retired).  I also used the crop-a-dile to punch out 3 Night of Navy  1/8″ circles.  I glued the small circles to the larger ones using my two-way glue stick and then covered the whole thing with crystal effects.  When it was dry I glued the circles to the upper right hand side of the card and then mounted the stamped Bird on a Branch to the left hand side using dimensionals.

I think the card has come together nicely and is quite restful.  What do you think?

Inspired by Nature

April 20, 2009

Well I promised to show you something using a different stampset.  This one is called Inspired by Nature and it is part of the Stampin’ Up! decorative range.  The images in this set are larger than most and they can be used as stand-alone decorative images.  If you look at the catalogue on page 74 you will see that the images have been stamped and framed and they look absolutely lovely.  The set contains two large images and two word stamps – “Live with Passion” and “Good works are links that form a chain of love – Mother Theresa”.

img_4611-edited-compressed-watermreked

Anyway with this card I used my Regal Rose marker to colour the flowers and then I used the Rose Red marker to colour the edges of the flower.  I used my old olive marker to colour the stems and leaves and then my Always Artichoke marker to add a bit of depth.  Then I spritzed with a water bottle ever so lightly, just to blend the colours and stamped onto Whisper White cardstock.  I mounted the piece onto Always Artichoke cardstock and then Rose Red folded cardstock.

I inked “live with passion” with my Always Artichoke marker, “huffed” and stamped onto whisper white cardstock, cut it out and mounted onto Always Artichoke cardstock.  This piece was adhered to the cardfront using dimensionals.   Very simple and easy card to do but the images are so effective.  Do you like?

Happy Birthday Stephanie

April 15, 2009

Today I want to share with you a card I made for my fabulous “upline” Stephanie.  I used the stampset A Rose is a Rose AGAIN.  I promise to show something else soon.

img_4576-edited-compressed-watermarkedI cased a card I found on Splitcoast Stampers.  I love the way this card has turned out.  I used Riding Hood Red as my base card and and mounted a whisper white piece on top.  I pierced three rows of holes on either side of the greeting.  The flowers I stamped on white card stamping off twice for the base colour using Riding Hood Red.  The leaves are Kiwi Kiss with the base colour stamped off twice.  I cut out all the pieces and adhered to the white card.  The large rose is popped up on dimensionals.  The new in-colours are so easy to work with.  I thought I would never be able to forget last year’s colours but these new ones are superb.  I hope Stephanie likes it.

A rose by any other name…

April 11, 2009

When I first joined Stampin’ Up! there was one set in the catalogue that I always loved called Wild Rose.  However, I procrastinated, thinking I might not use it enough to justify the cost.  When this new catalogue came out with A Rose is a Rose I decided I just had to have it, so I have been having a little play and I am so glad I decided to lash out.

I found a great tutorial for a Flower Pot Pocket Card here posted by Stephanie Luman.  This is a great tutorial and the card is very simple to make.

I used the new in-colour Baja Breeze for the flower pot and then I used the Eyelet Border Punch to decorate the lip of the pot.  I tied it with the new Satin ribbon which is Kiwi Kiss on one side and Very Vanilla on the other.  The ribbon is what holds the pot together.  Then I stamped the large rose using Baja Breeze and Pacific Point on Whisper White cardstock three times and cut them out.  I stamped the large leaf in Kiwi Kiss stamped off twice for the base leaf image and then overstamped with the first impression in Kiwi Kiss and cut them out.  I adhered the flowers and leaves together and then used dimensionals to mount it to the pull out tag so that the flowers would sit over the lip of the pot.   I think it is fabulous and I feel justified in buying this set already.

Easter Baskets

April 4, 2009

As you know cardmaking (and a little scrapbooking) is my passion – a passion which I am lucky enough to share with my eldest daughter Sarah who is also a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator.  She is a married to a wonderful guy Sean, is a working Midwife and mother to two girls  (4 and 1) and a boy (nearly 3) .  We hold all our workshops together and last night we prepared for our workshop today which is making a lovely little tote bag and 4 matching cards.  We stayed up late chatting as usual and so this morning I am feeling a little worn out.

So today I am posting some little baskets which I made last week  easter-baskets-with-bunniesfor my five grandchildren for easter.  I found the  instructions for them when I was web surfing (I probably need to do less of this and more creating).  Anyway I was on Alisa Tilsner’s  website and saw a basket which she had made using instructions posted on the web by Monica Gale.  The instructions are so easy to follow.  I made mine using some of my retired designer paper.  They do hold a 100g egg (or thereabouts) but my husband and I decided on these adorable easter bunnies.  (We actually took a basket with us when we went  shopping for the eggs  and must have looked a little funny as we tried different types of eggs and bunnies to fit.)

Now as it happens the yahoo group I belong to (for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators) posts a Make it Monday and this week it was another little basket which is also fantastic for easter.  It was posted by Mykeesha Byle  and I am sure if you check out her fantastic site you will find the instructions.

mim-easter-basketsI made these baskets using retired designer series paper (I am still waiting on new stock to arrive).  My husband and I are going to visit his mother in Evans Head and my parents in Pottsville at the weekend and we are taking our two eldest grandchildren with us.  So I made these little baskets for them to give to Nanny, Grandma and Grandfather.

Now just before I go I must make mention (which is overdue) of my youngest daughter Emma.  She is married to another fantastic guy Jason and at the moment is a SAHM to a boy (nearly 2) and girl (5 months).  Emma has helped me to set up this site and is always available for me to ask questions.  I am not very computer savvy but she is fantastic and I can’t thank her enough.

Anyway I am off to make breakfast and do the chores before our lovely ladies arrive for our workshop this afternoon.  Did I mention what a fantastic group of ladies our regulars are, we always have such fun and I am certainly lucky to spend time with such lovely people . I have the best job.

New Catalogue

April 2, 2009

810000_scoverWell after all the hype and excitement the new catalogue is finally released (yesterday actually).  I should have posted this yesterday but I spent the day trying to put together my first order.  So many things I want and so little money.  Oh well.  Finally sent through my order and now only have to wait for it to be delivered.

I loved this catalogue from the moment I saw it, lots of lovely new product and the layout and ideas are just fantastic.  The cost of this catalogue is still $12.95 and if you would like one then just let me know – or perhaps you would like one for FREE, contact me and I will tell you how.

New Catalogue Almost Here

March 28, 2009

It’s new catalogue time and I am so excited.  Its always sad to see old favourites go, especially the in-colours, but exciting looking forward to acquiring new favourites.

This year Stampin’ Up! gave its demonstrators the opportunity to pre-order a selected range of new products.  So I have been having fun trying out the new in-colours and a couple of stampsets which I am sure you will love as much as I do.  Did I mention the new in-colours – so yummy – especially Kiwi Kiss (you will probably get sick of seeing this colour).

echoes-of-kindness-incolour

I made this card using a new Level 2 Hostess Set called Echoes of Kindness – so pretty and fantastic for watercolouring (which I have to practice more).

The front of the card has been trimmed by 1.5cm and then scalloped with the scallop edge punch which is now in the new catalogue. I stamped the Riding Hood Red cardstock with En Francais using  Riding Hood Red ink stamping over the inside back as well.  Then I sponged the edges.  I punched a strip of Kiwi Kiss to match and taped it behind the scalloped edge of the Red Riding Hood cardstock.  The flower image is stamped onto watercolour paper and then coloured using blender pens and inks – Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red and Kiwi Kiss.  Once coloured I mounted onto Kiwi Kiss, wrapped with 5/8″ very vanilla grosgrain ribbon and mounted to the front.  My watercolouring leaves a lot to be desired but I love the effect of the card.

fresh-cuts-incolours

The base cardstock for this card is Kiwi Kiss and I have stamped it on the right hand side with the large square image from the set Fresh Cuts.  I sponged the edges of the card front with Kiwi Kiss ink as well.  I stamped the vine image in Riding Hood Red onto whisper white card and sponged the edges.  This piece was then mounted on Riding Hood Red card and 5/8″ very vanilla grosgrain was tied in a bow around the top and mounted to the left hand side of the card front.  I stamped “for you”  and the small flower onto whisper white card using Riding Hood Red.  I cut the flower out with my trusty paper snips and punched the “for you” out using the large oval punch and then sponged the edges.  I adhered the flower to the punched oval and then used dimensionals to attach to the right hand side of the card.  This card I love.

Just a reminder the  next workshop is on the 4th April at 2pm.  Please see Classes and Workshops for all the details.  Don’t forget places are limited and you need to contact me directly on k.mcintosh1@optusnet.com.au to reserve your place.

Birthday Card

February 25, 2009

As this is my first post I thought I would show you a birthday card I made for my granddaughter who is turning 1 on the 6th March.

I followed a sketch posted by Mykeesha Byl and I am really happy with the way it turned out.  I also tried out the chunky sprinkles from page 15 in the new Summer Mini Catalogue.  I think they are fantastic.  Anyhow here is the card img071-watermarked-copy-compressed1.

I used Mellow Moss as my base cardstock and stamped in Mellow Moss with the spotted image.

I stamped the base of the cupcake and the candle image on whisper white using Purely Pomegranate ink and my trusty stamp-a-ma-jig.  The icing for the cake was stamped in Pretty in Pink on whisper white which I cut out and then I used my two-way glue pen to adhere the Crystal Iris Chunky Sprinkles.  I used stampin’ dimensionals to attach it.

The flowers along the bottom have also had some Chunky Sprinkles added with the two-way glue pen.

The image piece was then mounted on Mellow Moss and Purely Pomegranate and then a larger piece of Pretty In Pink.

I am pretty happy with the way it turned out, what do you think?
