Sunny Challenge 92/13

November 10, 2013

The current Sunny Challenge has been set by Vicky and all we need to do is use Pool Party in our creations.  I decided to scrap a photo of my grandson Ethan which has been sitting on my desk for such a long time.004

I started with Whisper White 12 x 12″ card and stamped the small dots from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set using Pool Party ink down the right hand half of the card.  I stamped the striped image over the top, again using Pool Party ink and then added the splotchy image over the top using Island Indigo ink.  I found this combination on my Colour Coach, which is such an amazing tool for finding just the right colour combinations.  I trimmed down an A4 sheet of Whisper White .5cm on each length, then punched down one long side using the Chevron Border Punch.  I attached the Whisper White card to an A4 sheet of Pool Party card and attached it to the left hand side of the page.  I added a Basic Black mat to the photo of Ethan and attached it over the Whisper White card.  I used MDS to create the panel with his name and the date, printed it out and used an Oval Framelit to cut it out.  I cut a larger oval from Pool Party card and used oval template from the Occasions Paper Piercing Pack to pierce a row of holes around it.  This is attached to the page using dimensionals002

I love the look of this scrap page, the Pool Party works really well with this black and white photo and takes nothing away from Ethan’s gorgeous, cheeky smile.005

For some more inspiration pop on over to Sunny Challenges and check out what the rest of the design team has created.  Once you have made your card, scrap page or 3d item, pop back and add it to Mr. Linky.  I really hope you can find the time to join us for the current challenge.

Bye for now,

Kris

Hybrid Christmas Card

November 9, 2013

Today I wanted to share with you a card that I made using MDS and hand stamping.  I created the background layer in MDS as a card front.  I added a square punch and resized it to the shape of a rectangle to cover the lower half of the card front.  I filled the rectangle with the designer series paper from the Ornamental Christmas Postcard Template.   I created another rectangle to cover the upper part of the card and filled it with Paper 5 from the Sweet Details Designer Series Download and changed the opacity to 60%.  I added the Scallop Trim Border and colour filled it with Early Expresso.  I printed these 4 card fronts to a page onto Whisper White card on my home computer.  A great time-saver as I now I have the basis of four cards.  I created the inside of the card using the same elements and adding a stamp from the Bright Hopes Stamp Brush which I changed to Early Expresso.  Again I printed this out on my home computer as four card fronts.006

I trimmed down the front piece and attached it to scored and folded Chocolate Chip card.  I stamped the solid tree from the Evergreen stamp set onto Very Vanilla card and stamped over the top with the outline tree using Early Expresso ink.  I sponged around the edges of the Very Vanilla card using Crumb Cake ink, attached it to Early Expresso card and then the card front using Dimensionals.  I stamped the greeting from the More Merry Messages stamp set onto Very Vanilla card , cut the ends into a “v” shape, sponged it with Crumb Cake ink and attached it to the card front using dimensionals in the centre and Glue Dots on the ends.0084

I trimmed the pieces for the inside of the card and attached them without any further embellishment.0094

I am really happy with the way this card looks and love the idea of being able to use MDS together with traditional crafting.

Digital Scrapbooking

November 3, 2013

I hope you are all taking advantage of the fantastic savings on My Digital Studio Downloads.  Yesterday the Amped Up Ampersands Kit was 50% off.  I used this kit to create a quick scrap page of a recent caravan holiday with my two youngest granddaughters Jae and Ava.  The background paper is from the kit and so is the embellishment “&”.  I added a photo layout, slid in my photos, added a few words and created this beautiful page.  It really only took a few minutes. Tallebudgera-001-for-web I love clean and simple scrapbooking but I am a procrastinator when it comes to traditional scrapbooking.  By using My Digital Studio, I can play around with the embellishments, add them and “undo” when necessary without taking hours and hours.

If you haven’t checked out these fantastic deal, please take the time to have a look.  There are some really good savings to be made on lots of wonderful downloads.  You can see them all at my online store.  If you visit the My Digital Studio web page, check out the blog and see what the new design team is creating using the discounted downloads.

The most wonderful month in the year – Digital Sale

October 31, 2013

MDSSale

For the whole month of November Stampin’ Up! is celebrating scrapbooking and that means fantastic saving for each and every one of you.  All you need is to own My Digital Studio and you can save 30% on selected digital downloads commencing tomorrow.   Check them out at my online store – click on the MDS Seasonal Sale.  There are some amazing downloads to use not just for the holiday season but all year.  Digital_Scrpbking_Banner_2-002

To top off this fantastic month long sale, there will be one week of extra savings with a daily deal commencing on the 1st November and running until the 8th November.  Remember these deals only last for the day so be sure to check them out every day, especially on the 2nd when there will be a free download.  How fantastic!  Make sure that you don’t miss out on these fabulous bargains.

If you haven’t already purchased My Digital Studio, why not check out the free 30 day trial.  You can download the programme and trial it for 30 days before you purchase.  The 30 days commences from the beginning of your download, so make sure you spend plenty of time playing.  You can get the free download from my online store and once you have fallen in love with it, pop back and purchase the full programme for the ridiculously low price of $24.95.  The programme comes with even more downloads than the free trial so please take a look.

I love My Digital Studio and have found lots of uses for it.  Just recently I needed a particular stamp for a project I am working on and since it would take at least a week to get it in the mail, I checked out My Digital Studio and purchased the stamp set as a download – only took a few minutes and I was printing the stamp so that I could use it on my project.  So easy and now I own another great stamp set which will never retire.  You have to love that!  And what did I need the stamp for – well I was following a great tutorial by Tanya Bell for a Gift Bow Die Angel and I needed the “very merry” stamp for the front.

071

Cute isn’t she.  I re-coloured my stamp and then printed it onto Whisper White card so that I could punch it out.  I discovered that if I just added the stamp to my project and didn’t resize it was the perfect match for the 3/4″ Scallop Circle.  So while I love My Digital Studio for creating beautiful scrapbook pages, it can be used in all sorts of ways.

Hope you find something you love in this fantastic month of sales.

Bye for now,

Kris

A Minion for Jae

October 29, 2013

It is my granddaughter Jae’s 5th birthday today.  Happy Birthday Jae.  I cannot believe how quickly she has grown and next year she will be starting school.

jaes-card-and-gift-bagApparently Jae is a big fan of the Minion’s and so I found a link to a  card by Rhonda Fawcett which had a worksheet showing the different punches she had used.  I used this as the guide to create this card for Jae.

I attached my Minion to Whisper White card and then to Island Indigo card before attaching to scored and folded Whisper White card.  I created five balloons by stamping the balloon from Sketched Birthday onto Whisper White card using Real Red, Island Indigo and Daffodil Delight ink and then cut them out.  I attached them to the Minion’s hand and used dimensionals and Glue Dots to attach them to the card front.  I stamped happy birthday from the Sassy Salutions stamp set onto the card front using Real Red ink.jaes-birthday-card

Inside the card I stamped the greeting from the Bring on the Cake stamp set using Stazon Jet Black ink.  I coloured the “5” using a Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker.

Of course you have to have a matching gift bag and so I created another Minion.  I embossed Whisper White card and attached it to Island Indigo card which has both long edges punched using the Scallop Trim Border Punch.  This piece is attached to a plain white gift bag I purchased at Spotlight (Australia).  I punched Island Indigo card using the 1-1/4″ Circle Punch.  I cut the number 5 from Whisper White card using the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet (retired) and attached it to the centre of the Island Indigo circle.  I punched the heart from the Owl Builder Punch from Island Indigo card and attached it to the bottom of the circle.  I ran the piece through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  I cut a narrow strip of Island Indigo card and attached it to the back of the “balloon” using a dimensional. jaes-birthday-bag I added a small piece of dimensional to the back of the Minion’s hand to hold the end of the “balloon string”.  The “Happy Birthday Jae” is cut from Island Indigo card using the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet (retired).

I really love how this turned out and so did Jae.

Remember you can purchase the supplies needed to create this card from my online store.

Sunny Challenge 91/13

October 27, 2013

This weeks Sunny Challenge has been set by me.  I created a simple sketch for you to use any way you wish.  I can’t wait to see your amazing creations, remember, it can be a card, scrap page or 3d item.

My-Project-7-001

055I used the truly gorgeous Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper and took the colours for my card from the designer paper.  I added two pieces of Designer Series Paper to Whisper White card.  I embossed a strip of Whisper White card using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, attached it to Coastal Cabana card with both long edges punched using the Scallop Trim Border Punch and then attached it over the Designer Series Paper.  This piece is attached to scored and folded Coastal Cabana card. 056 I stamped the chevron oval from the Oh Hello stamp set onto Whisper White card using Coastal Cabana ink and cut it using the smallest oval in the Ovals Collection Framelits.  I cut Coastal Cabana card using the next size Oval from the Ovals Collection Framelits and attached the two ovals.  I added this to the card front using dimensionals.  I inked the flower from the Oh Hello stamp set using Calypso Coral and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write Markers and cut it out.  I attached the flower to the centre of the ovals using a Two Way Glue Pen.  To decorate the inside of the card, I inked the flower stamp using the same Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped it onto the lower left hand corner of  Whisper White card. 057 I embossed a strip of Whisper White card using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, attached it to punched Coastal Cabana card and then to the Whisper White card over the stem of the flower.

I think this is such a lovely card and could be used for any number of occasions, which is why I didn’t add a greeting either to the front or the inside.  I’d love to hear what you think.

Anyway for more inspiration, pop on over to Sunny Challenges and Creations and see what the other Design Team members have created.  Once you have made your card, scrap page or 3d item, pop back and add it to Mr. Linky.  We know that everyone is busy getting ready for Christmas, so maybe you could use the sketch as inspiration for one of your Christmas cards this year.

Bye for now,

Kris
