Sunny Challenges Week 29
This is the last week that Shirley will be joining us as a guest designer at Sunny Challenges & Creations. We thank her for all her hard work in promoting our challenge blog and for creating some gorgeous inspiration pieces. Please keep her in your favourite blogs because she has some amazing things coming up. Anyway our challenge this week (set by Shirley) is to use the colour combination Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, Basic Gray and Very Vanilla.
I decided to use the Vintage Vogue stamp set. This is a stamp set that I truly love but must admit have neglected a little of late. My base card stock is Night of Navy and I have added a Bashful Blue panel on top. 
I stamped the large flower twice using Night of Navy ink onto Very Vanilla card. I stamped the same flower onto a post-it note twice and cut them out. I attached the post-it note images over the stamped images. I inked the floral image from the same stamp set using Basic Gray ink and stamped over the Night of Navy flowers. 
I stamped the small floral image from the Vintage Vogue stamp set onto Very Vanilla card stock four times using Bashful blue ink and then cut them out. I attached two of the small Bashful blue images over the ends of the stamped floral image and two to the centre of the two Night of Navy flowers. I used my Paper Piercer and Mat Pack to punch holes in the centre of the flowers. I inserted large Rhinestone Brads through the centres of the large Night of Navy flowers and medium Rhinestone Brads through the centre of the two small flowers. I stamped “happy birthday” from the Happiest Birthday stamp set using Night of Navy ink onto the lower right hand side of the card front. The image panel is added to the card front using dimensionals.

I Dig You
I made this card last week sometime and have been so busy with visitors and grandchildren that I haven’t had a chance to share. I actually made it for a challenge at Late Night Stampers but the deadline has long since passed.
I attached More Mustard card stock to Whisper White card stock and then embossed the whole piece using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. I inked the image from the I Dig You stamp set using More Mustard and Basic Gray Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped onto Whisper White card. I cut the Whisper White card and the Basic Gray mat using my Circle Scissors. I attached the image onto the Basic Gray card and then to the Whisper White card. I used my Mat Pack and Paper Piercer to pierce three holes for the Basic Gray Brads. 
I attached this whole piece to Basic Gray card stock. I stamped “happy Birthday wishes” from the Petite Pairs stampset onto Whisper White scrap card stock and punched it out using the 1-3/8″ Circle Punch. I attached the greeting to a More Mustard 1 3/4″ Scallop Circle and then to the card front using dimensionals.
Simple really but I think one of my grandsons may get this card for their birthday.

Fresh Vintage Hostess Set
I made this little gift for my Hostess last weekend. I purchased the tutorial from Lauren Meander a long time ago, however I couldn’t find this template when I did a recent search.
The box is made using Soft Suede card stock and I created the decorative panel by inking the image from the Fresh Vintage stampset (Sale-A-Bration set) using Poppy Parade and Lucky Limeade Stampin’ Write Markers and stamping randomly over Whisper White card stock. I stamped “4 you” from the Tiny Tags stampset using Poppy Parade ink onto Whisper White card stock and punched it out using the Jewellery Tag Punch.
I wrapped the image panel using the Poppy Parade 1/8″ Organdy Ribbon and added a 3/8″ Printed Designer Brad (Sale-A-Bration exclusives) which holds the ribbon in place and also the tag. I attached the image panel to Poppy Parade card stock and then to the front of the box.
Inside the box I have added Whisper White card cut to 15cm x 10.5cm. I stamped each piece of Whisper White card using various images from the Fresh Vintage stampset and Soft Suede, Poppy Parade and Lucky Limeade ink. There are about 25 sheets of card stock and I stamped each one with one of the designs shown.

Week 28 Challenge at Sunny Challenges
Well we had a lot of entries last week and it was hard as usual to select a winner but pick one we did. So if you haven’t seen the Ray of Sunshine for last week pop over to Sunny Challenges and Creations and have a look at the winning entry.
Now this week Vicky has set the challenge and along with using her sketch she wants us to use Faux Silk techique. Now this is a great technique and one I haven’t used for a while. To create my Faux Silk I stamped the large floral image from the Creative Elements stampset onto tissue paper using Wild Wasabi ink. The tissue paper needs to be larger than the card stock you want to attach it too. Once you have stamped the tissue paper you need to scrunch it up tightly and open it out again. I cut Whisper White card stock and applied Glue Stick all over it. Then you attach the tissue paper but do not smooth it out, you want to have all the crinkles and creases on the card stock. Once the glue ha dried a little, I trimmed the tissue paper even with the card stock. I cut a strip of Wild Wasabi card stock and punched both long edges using the Scallop Trim Border Punch. I attached a narrow strip of So Saffron card stock on top and then pierced three holes, using the Mat Pack and Paper Piercer. 
I inserted Perfect Plum brads into the Filigree Brads and then through the pierced holes. This piece was then attached to scored and folded Perfect Plum card stock. I stamped the stem/leaf image from the Field Flowers stampset onto Whisper White card using Wild Wasabi ink and attached it to a Perfect Plum card stock mat. This image panel was attached to the card front using dimensionals. I stamped the “solid” large flower from the Field Flowers stamp set onto Whisper White card using Perfect Plum ink which I first stamped onto scrap Whisper White card stock. Then I stamped the “outline” large flower over the top again using Perfect Plum ink and cut the flower out. I attached the flower over the stem using SNAIL. I stamped “celebrate” from the Fabulous Phrases stamp set onto Whisper White card stock using Wild Wasabi ink and punched it out using the Word Window punch. I attached the greeting to a Perfect Plum Modern Label and then used dimensionals to attach to the card front.
This is a fun technique and a great way to create a textured background. Ok, so now for some more inspiration visit Vicky and Shirley and then once you have your card, scrapbook page or 3D item then pop over to Sunny Challenges and Creations and add it to Mr. Linky. A Birthday Tag
Here is a quick post sharing a tag I made for a gift today. The technique for getting the white sails against the sponged background was shared by Mary Brown quite some time ago. I am pretty sure that I cased her card and shared it with you.
I stamped the Sail Away image (retired unfortunately) onto Whisper White card using Stazon Jet Black ink and then created a circular mask to go over the top. I used Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Tangerine Tango ink to create the circular sky effect behind the image. I attached the Whisper White card stock to Tempting Turquoise card stock. I trimmed the top left and right corners to give a tag like effect. I punched a 1-1/4″ Circle from Tempting Turquoise card stock and folded it over the top of the tag. I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch a hole and threaded Whisper White 3/8″ Tafetta Ribbon through the hole.

Creating Pretty Cards Week 2
I wanted to make another card for the Challenge at Craft Project Central and I was inspired by one of the cards entered the first week to rotate the sketch and create a special birthday card.
I have a “dress” which I created using the Scallop Circle Bigz Die and to save Designer Paper I cut a strip wide enough to cover the template and then cut three sections of the Scallop Circle Bigz Die from the strip. From the left overs I cut three more sections to create the “petticote” or trim for each layer. To complete the dress I just traced around my template to get one full size dress and two shorter frills. I used Mini Glue Dots at the “waist” of each of the shorter dress pieces and dimensionals under the frill of each section. I wrapped the “waist” with Whisper White 1/4″ grosgrain ribbon. My little flower is just a 1-1/4″ circle of Whisper White card stock which I cut in a spiral and rolled to create a small “rose”. I cut the leaves using Old Olive card stock and the Two Step Bird Punch. These are attached over the ribbon using Mini Glue Dots. 
The dress is attached to a piece of Whisper White card stock with one corner rounded. I punched a long narrow strip of Wisteria Wonder card stock along one long edge using the Scallop Border Punch and attached it behind a piece of Pretty in Pink card stock. The dress panel is attached on top and the whole piece attached to another layer of Whisper White card stock. I wrapped the bottom with the very pretty Wisteria Wonder 3/8″ ruffled ribbon and tied a bow before attaching the whole piece to scored and folded Wisteria Wonder card stock.
I have two granddaughter’s celebrating birthday next month and I think this will make a great card for one of them. What do you think?

Stamping 411 Challenge 242
I made this card using the sketch from Stamping 411 this week and my favourite colour combo of Black/White/Red.
I punched the largest heart from the Heart to Heart Punch three times from Basic Black card stock. I punched four squares from Whisper White card stock using the 1-1/4″ Square Punch and attached them to Basic Black 1-3/8″ squares. The three Basic Black hearts were attached to the centre of the Whisper White Squares. The squares were then attached to Whisper White card stock and and the whole piece embossed using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. I stamped “love you” from the Short and Sweet stamp set onto Whisper White card stock using Real Red ink and punched out the greeting using the Large Oval Punch. I attached it to a Basic Black Scalloped Oval and then to the left hand side of the embossed Whisper White card stock, trimming off the left hand edge. 
The embossed card stock is attached to scored and folded Basic Black card stock. I punched three of the smallest hearts on the Heart to Heart Punch using Real Red cardstock and attached them over the Basic Black hearts using a small piece of dimensional. Lastly I added a small Basic Rhinestone to each of the Real Red hearts.

Sunny Challenge Week 27
Well here we are at the start of another challenge weekas Sunny Challenges and Creations. This week I have set the challenge, which is two parts, firstly use the sketch and then use Black and White and one other colour of your choice. It was a simple colour choice for me because my favourite combination is Black, White and Red. However, that being said it wasn’t quite as simple a challenge as I thought. Anyway I did manage to make this card and although I “like” it, I’m not “in love” with it. I’m sure all of you will be able to come up with something far more gorgeous.
I started with Basic Black card stock and added a layer of Whisper White card stock followed by a layer of Basic Black Designer paper from the Neutrals Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack. I cut two rectangles of Real Red card stock and embossed them using the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder (it kind of reminds me of the pattern in the designer series paper). I attached the Real Red embossed card stock to Basic Black card stock and then attached them to the card front. 
I inked the image from the Friends Never Fade stampset using Real Red and Basic Black Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped onto Whisper White card stock. I embossed Basic Black card stock using the Rectangle Designer Embossing Frame and then cut around the outside of the frame. I attached the stamped image into the frame and used dimensionals to attach it to the card front.
Very simple and no extra embellishment but I think it is “ok”. Now for some more imspiration visit Vicky and Shirley and then Sunny Challenges to add your card, scrap page, etc. to Mr. Linky. As always I am looking forward to seeing your gorgeous work.

Splitcoast Stampers
I found a Clean and Simple challenge from Splitcoast Stampers (browsing my saved newsletters). The inspiration card by Loll Thompson is so gorgeous and so simple. This is the second time that I have been inspired by Loll. If you haven’t checked out her website, then do, it is filled with all things gorgeous and beautiful.
I actually made two cards for this challenge and this is the first one. I kept it really “clean and simple” – Cutting, scoring and folding Whisper White card stock to create a one layer card. I cut various sized circles from scrap card and used them to make a mask and then sponge the ink inside to create a background for my stamp. The idea is that you start with the lightest colour and finish with the darkest. I used So Saffron, Always Artichoke and Cajun Craze ink to sponge into my circles. 
These colours come straight from the Colour Coach (simply a must if you need some colour inspiration). Once I had finished sponging I inked the image from the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set with Early Expresso ink and stamped over the top of the sponged circles – I did use the Stamp-a-ma-jig to place the image inside the sponged circles. So there it is – just about as simple as it gets.
For my second card I decided to step things up a little. This time I used Sahara Sand, Bravo Burgundy and Pretty in Pink to sponge into my circles. Again this colour combo comes from the Colour Coach. Once I had finished sponging on the colour, I inked the stem image from the Field Flowers stamp set with Early Expresso ink and stamped over the sponged circles. I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the “solid” image for both the large and small flower because I wanted them to be aligned with the stem properly. I stamped the solid images lightly onto scrap paper first. The “detail” images were both stamped over the top using Early Expresso ink. 
I added a mat of Bravo Burgundy card stock to the Whisper White image panel and then attached it to the card front.
This is such a fun technique, I am sure that I will find lots of ways to use this on future projects. I think it would be a great way to add an embellishment panel to a scrap page.
