Bye for now, Kris.
Elementary Elegance
I used the sketch at Stamping 411 to make this card. I cannot get enough of the Sale-A-Bration products this year and just had to use them on this card.
I scored and folded Poppy Parade card stock and added a layer of Whisper White. I sponged the edges of the designer paper from the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series paper using Poppy Parade ink, attached it to Poppy Parade card stock and attached it to the card front tilting it to the right. I attached another piece of the designer paper to Pool Party card stock which has one edge punched using the Eyelet Edge Border Punch. This is attached to the card front over the Poppy Parade Designer Series Paper panel. I stamped the “frame” image from the Elementary Elegance Stamp Set onto Whisper White card stock using Poppy Parade ink. I sponged the edges with the same ink, attached it to Poppy Parade card stock and then to the card front, tilting it to the left. I stamped “happy birthday” from the Elementary Elegance stamp set onto scrap Whisper White card stock using Poppy Parade ink and punched it out using the Curly Label Punch.
I attached this into the frame using dimensionals. I stamped the butterfly image from the Elementary Elegance Stamp Set onto Whisper White card stock using Poppy Parade ink. I sponged the edges using Pool Party ink, attached it to a Pool Party 1-1/4″ circle and then to a Poppy Parade 1-3/4″ Scallop circle. I used dimensionals under the right hand side to attach it to the card front. I tied a bow in Poppy Parade 1/2″ Stitched-Poly Ribbon and attached it to the card front using Mini Glue Dots.
It kind of looks a bit busy. What do you think, too much or just right?
Bye for now, Kris.
Rich Razzleberry Challenge
I found a clean and simple challenge at Splitcoast Stampers to make a card using Rich Razzleberry and White, which sounded like fun – besides Rich Razzleberry is one of my favourite colours.
I stamped the large floral image from the Creative Elements stampset onto Whisper White card using Rich Razzleberry ink. I stamped the butterfly from the same stampset onto scrap Whisper White card stock, using Rich Razzleberry ink and cut it out. I stamped the flower image three times onto scrap Whisper White card stock using Rich Razzleberry ink and cut out one full image and two smaller sections of the image. I scored lines at the top edge of the Whisper White card. tied a knot in Rich Razzleberry 1/4″ grosgrain ribbon and attached it so that the lines “framed” the ribbon. I attached the Whisper White card to scored and folded Rich Razzleberry card stock before attaching the flower and butterfly. I used a Mini Glue Dot in the middle of the butterfly, then I cut one dimensional in half, stacked the halves on top of each other,
attached one behind each wing and then to the card front. This really gives the butterfly extra dimension. I attached the largest flower over the stamped floral image using Snail and then attached each of the smaller sections on top using dimensionals.
I love all the little elements in this stampset, it makes it so easy to create a beautiful “arty” type card. What do you think?

Sunny Challenge 30
This week we have a new guest designer at Sunny Challenges and Creations, the very talented Libby Dyson. Libby is a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator who lives in the Blue Mountain area near Sydney in New South Wales. She has very kindly agreed to join us for the next four challenges and this week she has presented us with a sketch on which we are to use buttons.
I cut a piece of the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper and attached it to scored and folded Calypso Coral card stock. I ran a piece of Whisper White card stock through the Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder and attached it to the left had side of the card front. I punched eight petals from Calypso Coral card stock using the Blossom Petals Builder Punch. I used Calypso Coral ink to sponge the edges of each petal and then curled the petals slightly with my bone folder.
I punched a 3/4″ circle from Calypso Coral card stock and attached four petals to it and then another four petals over the top to create my flower. I added a dimensional to the back of the flower and attached it to the card front. I tied a bow in a Whisper White Neutrals Designer Button using Whisper White Bakers Twine and attached it to the centre of the flower using Mini Glue Dots. I stamped the greeting from the Field Flowers stamp set onto Whisper White card stock using Calypso Coral ink and punched it out using the Wide Oval Punch. I punched a Decorative Label from Calypso Coral card stock and attached it behind the greeting. The greeting panel is attached to the card front using dimensionals. I tied a bow using four loops from the Sale-A-Bration Lucky Limeade 1/8″ Organdy Ribbon and attached it to the card front using a Mini Glue Dot. I punched three of the smallest hearts on the Heart to Heart Punch from Calypso Coral and attached them to the back of three heart shaped Bitty Buttons and then to the card front using Mini Glue Dots.
Ok now you have seen my inspiration pop on over and visit Vicky and Libby and don’t forget to let them know how much you love their inspiration. Once you have created your card, scrapbook page or 3d item add them to Mr. Linky on the Sunny Challenges and Creations blog. I am looking forward to seeing all your gorgeous creations again this week.
Bye for now, Kris.
Happy Birthday Elyssa
My granddaughter Elyssa turns 4 on Tuesday and we are celebrating her birthday with a family lunch this weekend. She is very excited about turning 4 and starting pre-prep this year. You have already seen the card I made for her in this previous post but today I thought I would share the gift bag I decorated to hold her present.
I started with Pretty in Pink card stock which has the one edge punched using the Scallop Border Punch. I added a layer of Wisteria Wonder which is also punched along one edge using the Scallop Border Punch. The top layer is a piece of the Flirtatous Specialty Designer Paper. I wrapped Wisteria Wonder 1/2″ Ruffled Ribbon, tied a bow and attached it to the front of the plain white gift bag. I punched five 2-3/8″ Scallop Circles from Whisper White card and cut them into a spiral. I sponged the edges of three using Pretty in Pink ink and two using Wisteria Wonder ink. Each spiral was rolled and glued using Crystal Effects to create a pretty “rose”. I punched three sets of leaves from Old Olive card stock using the Two Step Bird Punch and attached them over the Wisteria Wonder ribbon. The flowers where then attached over the top of the leaves. I used Tombow Multipurpose Glue to attach the flowers, so I left the bag flat until they had dried.
I think they make rather a gorgeous pair and I’m sure Elyssa will love it. Of course, she will love the new clothes even more.
Bye for now, Kris.
Clean and Simple Challenge
I love the challenges at Clean and Simple simply because they are so “clean and simple”. This weeks sketch is for a single layer card something which I love to make but usually cannot resist adding layers and embellishments.
I started with Whisper White card stock and used a die cut negative of a 3″ circle. I sponged Daffodil Delight ink inside the circle and then stamped the image from the Sale-A-Bration Fresh Vintage stamp set over the top of the sponging using Early Expresso ink. I stamped “happy birthday” from the Bring on the Cake stampset straight onto the card front again using Early Expresso.
I decided to have a play and make another card. This one also starts with Whisper White card stock. I stamped the stem image from the Field Flowers stamp set using Certainly Celery ink. I stamped the flowers using Rose Red ink straight onto the card front. I also stamped the greeting from the same stamp set again using Rose Red ink.
Well there you are two really simple but I believe quite stunning cards, both done in a matter of moments.
I’d love to hear what you think.
Bye for now, Kris.
Card Box
I made this card box using instructions I found at Sudsol, which is a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator website. I am going to fill it with cards for my mother-in-law.
The base of the box uses Basic Black card stock and I used the Mocha Specialty Designer Series Paper to make the top of the box. I have wanted to make a rose using the Two-Step Owl Punch for a while now and decided that it would be just the thing for the top of this box. I followed video instructions which I found on Valita’s blog. The video is clear and easy to follow. I used Real Red card stock to make the rose and sponged the edges using Cherry Cobbler ink. Once I had assembled the rose I sprayed it with Shimmer Mist. I made this mist by mixing Isocol and Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint in a small spray bottle. You can find lots of recipes for this on the internet but I just added some Isocol to my bottle and kept adding Shimmer Paint until I like the way it looked. When you spray the card stock it will be wet but after it dries you get this gorgeous shimmer on the card.
I think it is beautiful and so simple to do. To make the leaves I punched Large Ovals from Old Olive card stock and folded them in half. I ran them through the crimper and then trimmed one end to give a slight point. The edges and ridges were sponged using Old Olive ink. I also sprayed the leaves with the Shimmer Mist.
I think the flower looks really gorgeous against the Mocha Specialty Designer Series Paper. What do you think?
Bye for now, Kris.
Just Add Ink 106
You may have noticed that I like to try my hand at various challenges. I find that they keep my creative energy flowing and keep lots of ideas running through my head. Sometimes they equate into something I truly love and sometimes they do not, but whatever the outcome I really love trying. Today it was the sketch challenge at Just Add Ink that caught my eye.
I cut a piece of First Edition Specialty Designer Paper into 3 strips and attached them to scored and folded Basic Black card. I stamped the Medallion Background onto Very Vanilla card stock using Lucky Limeade ink and cut out the image. I attached it to the lower right hand side of the card front and trimmed the image on the right hand side. I inserted 3 of the beautiful 3/8″ Printed Designer Brads (Sale-A-Bration) into the top left hand corner to complete the sketch.
Now this is truly a simple card. I hope you like it.
Bye for now, Kris.
Seaworthy Challenge Card
I really liked the colour challenge that Shirley set at Sunny Challenges and Creations this week so I decided to make another card using the sketch from Craft Project Central.
I cut a narrow strip of Basic Gray card stock and punched one long edge using the Scallop Border Punch. I attached this piece behind Bashful Blue card stock and then attached the whole piece to Very Vanilla card stock. I ran this through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. I stamped the boat from the Seaworthy stamp set onto Very Vanilla card stock using Night of Navy ink. I punched the top right hand corner using the 3/16″ corner rounder, sponged the edges with Night of Navy ink and attached it over the Bashful Blue card stock.
I wrapped this piece with Night of Navy 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon and tied a knot. The whole thing was then attached to scored and folded Night of Navy card stock. I stamped “happy birthday” from the Easy Events stamp set onto Very Vanilla card stock using Night of Navy ink and punched the greeting using the Word Window Punch. I attached a Basic Gray Modern Label behind the greeting and then to the card front using dimensionals.
I love the look of inlaid embossing, don’t you. This was such a simple card to put together, but sometimes simple is best.
Bye for now, Kris.
