Sunny Challenge No. 23

January 15, 2012

We have some changes happening at Sunny Challenges & Creations beginning this week.  Firstly Gwen has decided to take some time off to devote to her family and although we will miss her we totally understand that family must come first.  That’s one of the reasons we are Stampin’ Up! demonstrators because our business can be as flexible as we like.  We hope that Gwen’s absence is only a short one.  Most of you have heard me speak of Shirley, my very talented downline, and Vicky, Gwen and I are delighted that she has agreed to fill in for Gwen.  Shirley does some amazing work and has actually set our challenge for today (nothing like being thrown in at the deep end).

Ok, so our challenge this week is to create something with a Valentine theme – it could be a card, scrapbook page or 3D item.  I decided to make a card.

I embossed a piece of Whisper White card stock using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder, wrapped it with Real Red 5/8″ Satin Ribbon, tied a knot and attached it to scored and folded Real Red card stock.  I cut Real Red cardstock using the middle sized oval on the Ovals Originals Die.  Once cut I placed it inside the Oval Designer Frame and embossed it.  I punched Whisper White card using the Extra Large Oval and  embossed it using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  I attached the embossed Whisper White card inside the Real Red Oval Frame and attached it to the front of the card.  I stamped “love you” from the Short and Sweet stamp set (I would be really lost without this set), punched it out using the Word Window Punch, attached it to a Real Red Modern Label and then to the card front.  I punched Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink and Real Red card stock using the Heart to Heart Punch I embossed the larger two “pink” hearts using the Perfect Polka Dots and Petals-a-Plenty Embossing Folders.  I used dimensionals to attach the large hearts around the oval frame and used snail to add the two small real red heart.

I think it is kind of nice and not too girly – I might even give this one to my hubby.

So now you have seen my card, visit Shirley and Vicky and then once you have card (etc) ready visit Sunny Challenges and Creations and add it to Mr. Linky.  We look forward to seeing your fabulous creations again this week.

Bye for now, Kris.

Simply Adorned Bracelet

January 14, 2012

I really love the options for the Simply Adorned selection in the Summer Mini Catalogue.  I love all the baubles and the charms and I love that the Trinket Keys and Trinket Crowns come with the fittings so that they can be attached to the bracelet and neclace too.

I decided to put all the pieces that I have together today to show you how beautiful they look combined on a bracelet.  I stamped inserts for the 1.6mm Circle Charm and the 1.6 x 1.6cm Square Charm.  I stamped the script image from the Charming stampset onto Whisper White card using Crumb Cake ink.  I stamped the butterfly image from the same stampset over the top using Real Red ink and punched the images out using the 1/2″ Circle Punch.  I made two of these the same so that if the 1.6mm Circle Charm turned as I am wearing the bracelet, you will still see the stamped image.  To make the panels for the Square Charm I stamped the same background image using Crumb Cake ink and then over stamped with the flower image which I inked using my Real Red and Olive Green Stampin’ Write Markers.  Then I cut the images to size and inserted them into the Square Charm.  On my Bracelet I have the two charms already mentioned and one Trinket Key.  I also have one each of all the baubles that are available for purchase – Black crystal, Clear Crystal, Pink Crystal and Vanilla Pearl.

The little charms are magnet and snap shut really tightly once you have inserted your images.  I actually placed the foam piece that comes with the charms inside as well to keep the images firmly in place.

I love the way this bracelet has turned out and to make the outfit complete I made a new insert for my necklace.   I followed the same procedure that I used to create the panels for the 1.6 x 1.6cm Square Charm to make the insert for the 2.5 x 3.2cm Charm.  I am going to wear both of these pieces when I go out tonight to celebrate my daughter’s birthday.  You will have to wait till later to see her card.

Bye for now, Kris.

Baby Card

January 13, 2012

I made this card for our friends who have been blessed with a healthy baby girl.  Having had two girls myself I know how wonderful daughters are.  Anyway, I decided to use the sketch that Vicky set at Sunny Challenges and Creations.

I cut a narrow strip of Pretty in Pink card, punched both long edges using the Scallop Trim Border Punch and attached it to a piece of Whisper White card stock.  I then embossed using the Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder.  I wrapped the Pretty in Pink section with Whisper White 5/8″ Organza Ribbon, tied a knot and then attached the whole piece to the front of scored and folded Chocolate Chip card stock.  I punched Pretty in Pink card and Whisper White card using the Stocking Builder Punch.  I cut down the stocking slightly, attached the cuffs, heels and toes and then embossed the “booties” using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  I attached the “booties” to a piece of Whisper White card stock punched using the 2-1/2″ Circle Punch and then added a Chocolate Chip circle cut using the Circle Scissors.  This was then attached to the card front using dimensionals.  I stamped “welcome baby” from the Short and Sweet stamp set onto Whisper White card stock using Chocolate Chip ink.  I punched the greeting using the Word Window Punch and then attached it to a Chocolate Chip Modern Label.  I added a dimensional to the back of the left hand side and snail to the back of the right hand side and attached it to the card front.  Lastly I tied a knot in a short length of Whisper White 5/8″ Organza Ribbon and attached it over the top of the “booties” using a Mini Glue Dot.

I love this card and I am really happy because I made it to match the Photo Frame which I made earlier for another challenge at Sunny Challenges and Creations.  I think they look sensational together.

What do you think?

You still have time to play along with this week’s challenge at Sunny Challenges and Creations and we would love to see your take on this week’s sketch.

Bye for now, Kris.

A Little Late…

January 10, 2012

…but here is Mum’s birthday card.  Don’t know quite how I missed photographing this before giving it away, so I had to wait until I had a quick visit down to Pottsville last week to get a photo.

I started with a base card of Cherry Cobbler and added a piece of Whisper White card stock.  I embossed another piece of Whisper White card stock using the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder and added a strip of Cherry Cobbler which has one long edge punched using the Pinking Hearts Border Punch behind it. I wrapped this piece with Cherry Cobbler 1/2″ Seam Binding and tied a bow before attaching the whole piece to the card front.  I stamped the  image from the Pretty Postage stamp set onto Whisper White card using Cherry Cobbler ink, four times and then punched them out using the 1″ Square Punch I used the Postage Stamp Punch to cut Cherry Cobbler card stock four times and then attached the image panels to each one.  I attached the four images to the card front using dimensionals.

Pretty simply but I think it looks quite stunning because the Cherry Cobbler really pops against all that Whisper White.

This stamp set is fast becoming a favourite of mine.  The images are so cute and the new 1″ Square Punch and Postage Stamp Punch match this set perfectly.

I’d love to hear what you think.

Bye for now, Kris.

Happy 70th

January 9, 2012

I needed a card last weekend for a cousin who is turning 70.  I used the sketch at Clean and Simple and the Seaworthy stamp set.

I used the Sizzix Scallop Oval Frame and cut one in Bashful Blue and one in Whisper White.  I attached the Bashful Blue Frame to a piece of Whisper White card stock and embossed it using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  I love the effect when you do inlaid embossing, everything comes together as one layer.  I wrapped it with a piece of Night of Navy 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon and then attached it to scored and folded Night of Navy card stock.  I stamped the sailing boat from the Seaworthy stamp set onto the Whisper White oval (centre of the frame) using Stazon Jet Black ink I used Night of Navy, Bashful Blue and Real Red Stampin’ Write Markers  and a blender pen to colour the image and then stamped the greeting from the Petite Pairs stampset using Night of Navy ink (of course I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to ensure perfect placement).  I attached the image panel to the card front using dimensionals.

I love the way this has turned out.  What do you think?

Bye for now, Kris.

Sunny Challenge 22

January 8, 2012

I don’t know about you but things are finally starting to settle down after all the holiday excitement.  School starts back in two weeks and so all the Mums & Dads are counting the days and so I think are the children.  At Sunny Challenges & Creations we are getting back to normal as well and our challenges will again run for one week.  This week we have been provided with a great sketch by Vicky and she has stipulated that we make a “celebration” card.  I can’t think of a better celebration than a wedding, so here is my inspiration for you this week.

I scored and folded Early Expresso card stock and added a layer of Very Vanilla card stock.  Before attaching the Very Vanilla card stock, I punched Bashful Blue card stock using the Heart of Hearts Punch and attached them randomly to the lower half of the Very Vanilla card stock and then embossed the whole piece using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  I also wrapped it with Old Olive 5/8″ Satin Ribbon and tied a knot.  I stamped the wedding image from the Easy Events stamp set onto Very Vanilla card stock using Stazon Jet Black ink and punched it out using the 2-1/2″ Circle Punch.  I coloured the image using Bashful Blue, Old Olive, Early Expresso & Real Red Stampin’ Write Markers.  I punched a portion of Chocolate Chip card using the 2-1/2″ Circle Punch and attached it below the image.  I cut Real Red card stock to create a mat for the image panel and then attached it to the card front using dimensionals.  I stamped wedding wishes from the same stamp set (actually from the same image) using Basic Black ink onto Very Vanilla card and punched the greeting using the Word Window Punch.  I cut Bashful Blue card stock using the Modern Label Punch, attached the greeting to it and then to the card front using a dimensional under the left hand side and Snail under the right hand side.  This lets the greeting “sit” on the image panel.

Well now you have seen my sample, pop on over the Gwen and Vicky’s blogs and see what they have in store for you this week, once you have created your card (scrapbook page etc.), go to Sunny Challenges and Creations and add it to Mr. Linky.  As always I look forward to seeing some gorgeous creations.

Bye for now, Kris.

Vintage Doilies

January 7, 2012

I used the sketch at Craft Project Central to create this card which I think has a vintage feel.

I stamped two of the images from the Delicate Doilies stamp set onto Very Vanilla card stock using Crumb Cake ink.  I hand cut the scalloped edge along the bottom (that’s why it isn’t as even as it should be) and then sponged around the edges using Chocolate Chip ink.  I wrapped this piece with Cherry Cobbler 1/2″ Seam Binding.  I embossed a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder and attached it behind the stamped panel.  I stamped the greeting from the Just Believe stampset onto Very Vanilla card stock using Chocolate Chip ink and then attached it behind the Cherry Cobbler card stock.  The whole piece is then attached to scored and folded Chocolate Chip card stock.   I tied a bow using Cherry Cobbler 1/2″ Seam Binding and attached it to the card front using a Mini Glue Dot.  I stamped the the large doily image twice onto scrap Very Vanilla card stock using Cherry Cobbler ink and the smaller image once using Cherry Cobbler ink.  I punched the centre of the smallest image using the flower punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and the centre of the larger images using the 1/2″ Circle Punch.  I attached them to the card front and then added a small Basic Rhinestone to the small flower and a large Basic Rhinestone to the centre of the 1/2″ circle images.

I think this is really soft and pretty, what do you think?

Bye for now, Kris.

Another Look at Sale-A-Bration

January 4, 2012

Here is another card made using the Fresh Vintage stamp set (Free to qualifying customers during Sale-A-Bration) as well as some of the gorgeous new ribbon and brads (also Free to qualifying customers during Sale-A-Bration).

I started with Very Vanilla card stock and added a layer of Calypso Coral.  I embossed a layer of Very Vanilla card stock using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  I wrapped some of the Calypso Coral 1/8″ Organdy Ribbon around the top of the embossed Very Vanilla card, added a Printed Designer Brad around the ribbon and attached it to the card front.    I stamped the square image from the Fresh Vintage stampset onto Very Vanilla card stock using the Calypso Coral four times and punched them out using the 1″ Square Punch.  I attached them to Calypso Coral card stock which has been punched using the Postage Stamp Punch and then attached them to the card front.  I stamped “thank you” from the Short and Sweet stamp set using Calypso Coral ink onto Very Vanilla card stock and punched the greeting with the Word Window Punch.  I attached the greeting to a Calypso Coral Modern Label and then attached the greeting to the card front.

I love this card, I think the 1/8″ Organcy Ribbon and the Printed Designer Brads are really beautiful and really add the finishing touch.  What do you think?  Are you getting excited about being able to get these beautiful products Free during Sale-A-Bration (24th January to 31st March).  I’d love to help you earn your Free product during Sale-A-Bration.

Bye for now, Kris.

Sale-A-Bration Sneak Peak

January 3, 2012

Sale-A-Bration doesn’t start until 24th January but as a demonstrator I was able to pre-order the products which you can earn FREE until the 31st March.  This year there are 4 stampsets, Designer Series Paper and the most adorable brad and ribbon pack.  I decided to use some of the gorgeous new Designer Series Paper on this card which I made for the sketch challenge at Sudsol this week.

I used Very Vanilla card stock for my base card and added a layer of Soft Suede card stock.  Next layer is a piece of the gorgeous Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper (Free to qualifying customers during Sale-A-Bration).  I embossed a piece of Calypso Coral card stock using the Petals-A-Plenty Embossing Folder and attached it to the right hand side of the card front.  I inked the image from the Fresh Vintage stamp set (free to qualifying customers during Sale-A-Bration) using my Calypso Coral and Lucky Limeade Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped onto Very Vanilla card stock.  I stamped “best wishes” from the Short and Sweet stampset onto Lucky Limeade card stock using Soft Suede ink and punched the image using the Decorative Label Punch.  I attached the Decorative Label behind the image panel and then attached the whole piece to the card front.  I love the colours in this Designer Paper – Lucky Limeade, Pool Party, Peach Parfait, Calypso Coral, Poppy Parade, Very Vanilla and Soft Suede – and the patterns are so “oldy worlde”.

So keep in mind that during Sale-A-Bration every time you spend $100.00 you get to select one item from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue FREE.  This is such a fantastic time to stock up on your Stampin’ Up! supplies and get Free stuff at the same time – you gotta love that!  It’s also a fantastic time to host a workshop because as a Hostess you can select an additional Free product from the catalogue base on workshop sales.  Just contact me to work out a suitable time.  In the meantime, I’d love to hear what you think of my sample.

Bye for now, Kris.
