Technostamper Challenge 296
MaryJo has a great sketch challenge this week and it gave me another opportunity to use some of my new goodies. This time i have used the Language of Love stamp set from the Occasions Catalogue.
I embossed Whisper White card using the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder and attached it to scored and folded Sahara Sand card. I embossed another piece of Whisper White using the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, attached it to Sahara Sand card and then to the card front using dimensionals. I stamped the heart pennant from the Language of Love stamp set onto Whisper White card three times using Strawberry Slush ink and punched them out using the Petite Pennants Builder Punch. I stamped the flag image onto Whisper White card twice using Rich Razzleberry ink and cut them using the matching Banners Framelits Dies (Occasions Catalogue).
I attached the pennants and flags to the card front using Glue Dots and them added Large Basic Rhinestones between each of them. I stamped happy anniversary from the Express Yourself stamp set onto a narrow strip of Whisper White card using Strawberry Slush ink and cut a “v” in one short end. I added Strawberry Slush 3/8″ Ruffle Stretch Trim to the lower edge and then attached it to the card front using dimensionals.
I stamped the large heart from the Language of Love stamp set onto the lower left hand corner of Whisper White card using Rich Razzleberry ink and attached it to the inside of the card.
This is another great set from the Occasions Catalogue I am going to have fun using. I’d love to hear what you think.
I just realised this also fits the challenge at Late Night Stampers too!
Bye for now,
Kris
Something New
It is so exciting when a new catalogue is about to be released! Stampin’ Up! lets demonstrators pre-order from a new catalogue about 3 weeks early. This year we also got to earn Sale-A-Bration items early too! Sooo, my pre-order arrived this week and I have started to play with my new goodies.
One of the stamp sets that really caught my eye was Happy Watercolour. This is an 8 piece stamp set and includes two lovely flowers but it also includes some cool stamps so that you can create a watercolour effect on your projects. So this is my first share using this stamp set.
This card was created using the sketch challenge at Try Stampin’ on Tuesday. I embossed Tangerine Tango card using the fabulous Arrow Embossing Folder (new Occasions Catalogue) and attached it to scored and folded Sahara Sand card. I attached a piece of Watercolour Wonder Designer Series Paper (new Occasions Catalogue) to Sahara Sand card and then to the card front. I stamped the large “splotch” image from the Happy Watercolour stamp set (occasions Catalogue) onto Whisper White card using Tangerine Tango, Crushed Curry and Daffodil Delight.
I stamped the flower image over the top using Stazon Jet Black ink. The image panel is attached to Sahara Sand card and then to the card front. I stamped the greeting from the Happy Watercolour stamp set onto Whisper White card using Tangerine Tango ink and cut a “v” shape in one end. I attached the Whisper White card to Sahara Sand card and then to the card front using a dimensional under the “v” shaped end and Snail on the other end so that I could lay it on top of the image panel. To decorate the inside of the card I stamped the splotch image using Tangerine Tango and Crushed Curry onto the lower left hand corner of Whisper White card. The flower image is stamped over the top using Stazon Jet Black ink and then attached to the inside of the card.
Well, what do you think? I’m sure you will love this set as much as me. If you don’t have a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator then please contact me so that I can arrange for you to receive both the Occasions and the Sale-A-Bration catalogues.
I am going to have a lot of fun playing with this stamp set and hope to be back with more samples soon.
Bye for now,
Kris
Pocket Cards
I saw a post at My Digital Studio where Janet Wakeland had created cards using one of the Pocket Card Digital Downloads and it got me thinking about creating a hybrid card of my own.
I found my This Makes Me Happy Pocket Card digital download, printed out two of the A4 pages and cut them up. I took the Love, Love, Love pocket and trimmed it down so that I could use it as the focal image on my card.
I embossed Whisper White card using the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder but only the left hand side. I attached the embossed card to scored and folded Pool Party card.
I embossed Pool Party card using the Stripes Embossing Folder and attached it to the right hand side of the Whisper White card. I embossed Summer Starfruit card using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, tied Whisper White 5/8″ Organza Ribbon in a knot around the embossed card and attached it to the card front using dimensionals under the left hand side only. I added a mat of Calypso Coral to the pocket card and attached it over both the Summer Starfruit and Pool Party card using dimensionals under the right hand side.
To decorate the inside, I cut down another Pocket Card and added a strip of Calypso Coral Card to the top edge. This piece is attached to Whisper White card and then to the inside of the Pool Party card.
I think it turned out really well. I will be checking out some of my other digital downloads to see which ones can be turned into the focal image on more cards.
Bye for now,
Kris
Challenge – Try Stampin’ on Tuesday
I had some time this week to try a new challenge card. I found the sketch at Try Stampin’ on Tuesday and decided to give it a try. The added twist was to add some sparkle which I decided not to do.
My card beings by attaching a narrow strip of Coastal Cabana card to Very Vanilla card and then embossing with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. I cut a strip of Smoky Slate card using the Tasteful Trim Die, attached it to the embossed Very Vanilla card and then to scored and folded Smoky Slate card.
I stamped the stem image from the Field Flowers stamp set onto Very Vanilla card using Coastal Cabana ink, attached it to Smoky Slate card and then to the card front using dimensionals. I stamped the large solid flower from the same stamp set onto Very Vanilla card using Real Red ink which I had stamped off onto scrap paper first. I stamped the outline flower stamp over the top using Real Red ink and then cut them out.
The flowers are attached over the ends of the stems, one flat onto the Very Vanilla card and one using dimensionals. Finally I added Large Pearls to the Smoky Slate card.
To decorate the inside of the card I inked the stem and stamped part of it onto Very Vanilla card. I stamped and cut out another large flower and attached it to the end of the stem.
I’d love to hear what you think.
Bye for now, Kris.
MDS Challenge
I found a blog called MDS Mondays which sets challenges to create digitally. It doesn’t have to be My Digital Studio but of course that is what I used. The current challenge is to use this sketch.
And here is my creation.
This page celebrates the graduation of my grandaughter Jae from her Pre-Prep class. Doesn’t she look cute? The page is created using designer series paper and embellishments from the Travel Log Kit which comes as part of your downloads when you purchase My Digital Studio.
Hopefully I will be able to participate in more the challenges from this site and get some more of my photo stash scrapped.
You can try My Digital Studio free for 30 days by visiting my online store, creating an account and purchasing the free download. I’m sure you will love it as much as I do.
Bye for now,
Kris
UPDATE: This page was selected as a Top Pick for this challenge. I am so excited. Thanks so much to the Design Team firstly for selecting my page and secondly for providing such inspiring challenges. Kris
Happy Birthday Mum and Dad
Both my Mum and Dad celebrated their birthdays yesterday but I couldn’t share their card with you until today.
My Mum’s card is a case of this one I found on Pinterest. I stamped the greeting from the You’re Amazing stampset onto Whisper White card 10cm x 14.3cm using Raspberry Ripple ink. I cut the greeting from the Whisper White card using one of the Apothecary Accents Framelits. I embossed the cut card using the Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder. I wrapped each side of the cut out using Raspberry Ripple 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon.
I attached the embossed card to scored and folded Raspberry Ripple card using dimensionals and then glued down the greeting into the cut out. I stamped the flower from the Flower Shop stamp set using Raspberry Ripple ink and punched it out with the Pansy Punch. I cut two sets of leaves from Smoky Slate card using the Little Leaves Sizzlit. The flowers and the leaves are attached to the lower left hand card front.
I cut another flower and and another two sets of leaves, attached them to the lower left hand side of Whisper White card which I attached to the inside of the card.
Pretty isn’t it. Thanks so much to Rae Harper-Burnett for the inspiration.
My Dad’s card was inspired by this one which Danielle Calder made for her Dad. I stamped Night of Navy card with the journal and anchor images from The Open Sea stamp set using Night of Navy ink and sponged the edges with the same ink. I attached the Night of Navy card to Crumb Cake card and then scored and folded Cherry Cobbler card. I stamped the journal image from The Open Sea stamp set onto Very Vanilla card using Night of Navy ink. I sponged the edges with Soft Suede ink roughed up the edges using my Distress Tool and then sponged the edges again with the Soft Suede.
I tied some Linen Thread around the stamped image and then attached it to the card front using dimensionals. I stamped the globe image and boat from the same stamp set using Night of Navy ink onto Very Vanilla card. I cut out both images and sponged the edges with Soft Suede ink. I also used the Distress Tool on the edges of the globe image. I stamped happy birthday from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set onto Very Vanilla card, cut it out using the large Bitty Banner Framelit and touched the edges to my Soft Suede ink pad.
I attached the greeting behind the boat and attached it to the card front using dimensionals so that it sits partially over the journal image. The globe image is attached to the card front also using dimensionals so that it sits partially over the journal image.
To decorate the inside I stamped the journal image onto scrap paper and then Very Vanilla card using Soft Suede ink. I stamped the greeting from the Bring on the Cake stamp set using Night of Navy ink over the top of the journal image.
If you want to reproduce these cards, you can purchase all the supplies at my online store.
Bye for now,
Kris
Happy New Year
I wish each and every one of you a very Happy New Year and hope that you had a fantastic time celebrating the arrival of 2014. Wow can you believe how quickly time is flying. Doesn’t seem that long ago we were celebrating the arriving of the year 2000!
I thought I would share some fun news with you. Remember I told you that I have been featured in a publication by All Free Crafts, well, two of my tutorials featured in their top 25 for the year 2013. If you would like to see all 25 of the top picks just click on the All Free Crafts Top blogger icon on the right side bar.
Here is my Happy New Year card for all of you.
I attached some of the Pool Party Designer Series Paper from the This and That Designer Series to Whisper White card and then to scored and folded Calypso Coral Card. I attached Calypso Coral Designer Series Paper, also from the This and That Designer Series to Whisper Whit card and attached it to the card front. I stamped the wine glass from the Embellished Events stamp set onto Whisper White card using Smoky Slate ink and punched it out using the 2-1/2″ Circle Punch.
I cut the large doily from the Delicate Doilies Sizzlits Large from Smoky Slate card, attached the wine glass image to the centre and then attached it to the card front using dimensionals. I added small Basic Rhinestones to the “bubbles”. I stamped “happy new year” from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set onto Whisper White card using Calypso Coral ink, punched it out with the Word Window Punch, attached it to a Pool Party Modern Label and then to the card front with a dimensional under the right hand side only.
Inside the card I stamped the wine glass image again using Smoky Slate ink.
Thank you once again for making 2013 a fun and successful year.
Bye for now,
Kris
Baby Card
I needed to make a card for my nephew who has a brand new daughter. Congratulations Jay and Margaret on the safe arrival of Siena.
I cut one long end of Whisper White card using the Large Scallop Framelit and then embossed it using the Adorning Accents Embossing Folder with the scallop edge. I added a thin strip of Calypso Coral card to cover the end of the embossing. I punched the little dresses from Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper using the Owl Builder Punch. I stamped the striped banner from the Banner Blast stamp set (Sale-A-Bration) onto Whisper White card using Wisteria Wonder ink and punched them out using the Banner Punch.
I attached the dresses and the banners to Whisper White Baker’s Twine using dimensionals which also attached them to the card front. I stamped the flower and the heart from the Banner Blast stamp set onto Whisper White card using Calypso Coral ink. I punched the flowers using the punch from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack and the heart using the Owl Builder Punch. It’s not the same shape or size as the stamp but the heart on the Owl Builder Punch is smaller so I could punch out the heart and get the same look as the stamped flower.
I added Basic Rhinestones to the centre of each of the flowers and also to the heart. I stamped “hello baby” from the Sweet Essentials stamp set using Calypso Coral ink.
To decorate the inside I cut and embossed the Whisper White card and added the narrow strip of Calypso Coral. (Sorry about this photo but I forgot to take it before I wrote in the card so I had to white it out!)
I love how cute this turned out. The little dresses are very sweet and the banners look fantastic too. I’d love to hear what you think.
Bye for now,
Kris
Something new
Today I am sharing a card I made which uses some product which I have long neglected. I loved the Hearts A Flutter stamp set when I first saw it and had to have it. However, I was kind of lost as to how to use it. So I went to my card sketches board on Pinterest and searched for a sketch that would use some sort of flag. I also wanted to show a sneak peak of a Sale-A-Bration stamp set and I think this sketch works perfectly.
I started by embossing Whisper White card using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. I punched one edge of a piece of Real Red card using the Scallop Trim Border Punch, embossed it using the Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder and attached it to the lower edge of the Whisper White card. I added a strip of Basic Black card which covers the ends of the embossing and helps to make my flags stand out. The striped flag is from the Hearts A Flutter stamp set, stamped onto Whisper White card using Stazon Jet Black ink, cut using the matching Hearts A Flutter Framelit and attached so that it sits about half-way on the Basic Black card. I cut Whisper White card using the framelit from the same set, embossed it with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder and attached it over the striped flag. The little flag is from a Sale-A-Bration stamp set called Banner Blast. It is stamped onto Whisper White card using Real Red ink, punched using the matching Banner Punch and attached over the top of the other two flags.
I wrapped the top edge of the flags using Real Red 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon and tied a knot. The whole piece is attached to scored and folded Basic Black card. I stamped the scalloped heart and small heart from the Hearts A Flutter stamp set onto Whisper White card using Real Red ink and cut them using the matching Hearts A Flutter framelits. I attached the small heart to the centre of the scalloped heart using dimensionals and then to the card front.
Inside the card I punched and embossed Real Red card, added narrow strip of Basic Black card, attached it to Whisper White card and then to the inside of the Basic Black card. I used dimensionals to add another small heart stamped in Real Red ink onto Whisper White card and cut using the matching framelit.
I really love this colour combination, especially for cards with a “love” theme, don’t you?
Sale-A-Bration starts on the 28th January and ends on the 31st March. For every $90.00 you spend you can select one free product from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue – how fantastic is that? There are some really great products included in Sale-A-Bration this year including a couple of digital ones for those of us/you who are in love with My Digital Studio. How do I know? Well as a demonstrator I started earning these products from the 1st December, so I could have plenty of time to play – I mean work with them – before they become available to you. Another great reason to become a demonstrator. Sale-A-Bration also comes with an additional $50.00 to spend for qualifying Hostesses. If you need more information just contact me and I can give you more details.
In the meantime, if you want any of the products shown in this card, except Banner Blast and the matching Banner Punch, just pop over to my online store, set up your account and get started.
Bye for now,
Kris
My last Christmas Share
I was going to share these with you yesterday but I don’t know somehow I just wanted to rest and relax. It seems to get very busy leading up to Christmas and it was nice to have a day to do nothing. Of course, the fact that it was super hot didn’t help.
I wanted to add some festive lighting to our patio on Christmas Eve, so I brought out my Festive Flurry stamp set and matching framelits. I cut the largest and second largest framelit from Cherry Cobbler card. I stamped the largest image onto Whisper White card using Cherry Cobbler ink and cut it out using the matching framelit. I wanted to be able to sit my battery operated Tea Lights into the holder but I didn’t want to glue them because I wanted to be able to turn them on and off.
Soooo, I traced around the tea light base onto scrap card and then centred it onto the stamped image and the smaller of the Cherry Cobbler framelits, traced around the template and then cut the circles from the middle of each of the pieces. Once that was done, I attached them one on top of the other using dimensionals. This gave me the perfect place for my candles to sit and the were held in place by the framelits around them. I think they look cute and they were very pretty when turned on after dark.
My granddaughter Abigail helped me some candy wrappers using the Envelope Punch Board to add to our table on Christmas Day.
I cut them from Real Red Co’ordinations card and then embossed them using the Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder. We added a Lindt chocolate to the middle and tied them using Silver Cord (retired). They looked very pretty on the table but the chocolate had to go in the fridge, because it was so hot and they melted. Never mind!
I hope to be back soon with some new projects using other than Christmas supplies.
Bye for now,
Kris
