A Fox and Friends Baby Card

August 17, 2011

Here is another card I made for this week’s challenge at Sunny Challenges and Creations

I used Pretty in Pink for my base card and added a layer of Very Vanilla which has been embossed using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  I stamped the giraffe from the  Fox and Friends stampset onto Very Vanilla card using Pretty in Pink ink.  I also sponged the edges using the same ink.  I added a mat of Pretty in Pink card and attached it to the card front.  I wrapped a strip of Pretty in Pink card with Very Vanilla 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon and tied a knot before attaching it to the card front.  I stamped “welcome baby” from the Short and Sweet stampset using Pretty in Pink ink onto Very Vanilla card and punched it out using the Small Oval Punch (retiring) and added a Pretty in Pink Large Oval as a mat.  I attached the greeting to the card front using dimensionals.

Not too sure if this one is not just a little too plain.  What do you think?

I’d love to see your creation for this week’s challenge, so why not pop on over to Sunny Challenges and Creations and add your card to Mr. Linky.

Bye for now, Kris.

A Hostess Gift

August 15, 2011

Yesterday I held a workshop for a lovely lady (Hi Anu) where some of the guests had never stamped before.  It was a lovely afternoon, with lots of fun and creating.  I like to make something special as a thank you for holding a workshop and I thought I would share the gift I made for Anu.

I created a boxed set of 4 cards using the retiring Hostess Set Punch Potpourri.   I used the Quick Box by Gwen pattern from The Three Sisters blog (free to join).  I have used this box before.  It is ideal to hold up to 6 cards depending on the embellishment or a great box to hand deliver a card that is bulky and not suitable to post.

I constructed the box from Whisper White card and added Whisper White panels to the lower front of the box and the back of the box which have been embossed using the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder. I cut a narrow strip of Island Indigo cardstock and punched one edge with the Scallop Trim Border Punch and attached it to the inside of the front of the box flap.  I stamped the bird from Punch Potpourri onto Whisper White card using Island Indigo ink and punched it out using the Two Step Bird Punch and added a wing punched from Island Indigo card.  (Island Indigo is one of the new In-Colours to be released with the new catalogue on the 1st September.)  I stamped the flowers from Punch Potpourri onto Whisper White card using Calypso Coral ink (another new In-Colour) and then punched them  out using the Boho Blossom Punch.  The leaves were punched from Lucky Limeade card (new In-Colour) using the Two Step Bird Punch.  I attached these pieces to the right hand side of the front flap and stamped “A Gift for You” from the Bring on the Cake stampset.    I actually did the stamping and attached all of the decorative pieces before assembling the box.  The last addition were some Clear Rhinestone brads to the centre of the flowers and I also added a small one to the bird to represent an eye.

The cards were put together similarly to the box.  I used Whisper White card for the base and added an embossed Whisper White panel to the lower card front.  I used a different embossing folder for each card – Petals -A-Plenty, Vintage Wallpaper, Finial Press and Perfect Polka Dots.  The bird, flowers and leaves are made in exactly the same way as for the box front.  The greeting for each card was from the Sincere Salutations stampset and I used 4 different ones – Best Wishes, Birthday Wishes, Get Well Soon and Thinking of You.

This shows a close up of the bird and you can see the Basic Rhinestones and the embossing.

I will be really sorry to see this set retire at the end of the month.  I have used it many times to create some really gorgeous cards and 3D items.

If you would like to receive a gift made especially for you, then contact me (krismac8@bigpond.com) and we can arrange a date for your workshop.

Bye for now, Kris.

Week 3 of Sunny Challenges

August 14, 2011

Can you believe it, this is our third challenge at Sunny Challenges and Creations.   We are very excited by the support that you are giving to our new site.  It is quite fascinating to see how differently each creation is.   This week the sketch is supplied by Vicky….

…and the stampset is Fox and Friends.  I have to admit this one had me stumped for a while.

I decided to use Pacific Point for my base card and added a piece of Very Vanilla card which I embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  I stamped the whale from the Fox and Friends stampset using Pacific Point ink onto Very Vanilla card and added a little sponging around the whale to look like the ocean.  I embossed the very bottom section of the image panel using using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  I wrapped a strip of Pacific Point card with Very Vanilla 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon and then attached it to the card front over the image panel, concealing the top edge of the Square Lattice embossing.  Lastly I stamped “hello” from the Pennant Parade stampset onto Very Vanilla card using Pacific Point ink and punched it out using the Word Window Punch.  I punched Pacific Point card using the Modern Label punch to create a mat and attached the greeting to the card front using dimensionals.

I must admit to being slightly in love with the Stampin’ Up! embossing folders.  I just love how easy it is to get extra dimension onto my creations.

Don’t you think that whale is the cutest !  I will try and post another sample later in the week using another image from this fantastic stampset.

Now don’t forget to pop on over the Sunny Challenges and Creations to see  Gwen and Vicky’s fabulous samples for more inspiration, then add your gorgeous creation to Mr. Linky.

Bye for now, Kris.

Something Old, Something New

August 13, 2011

This weeks sketch challenge at Stamping 411 just screamed at me to use up some bits and pieces of designer paper that I had laying around.  The designer paper actually retired at the end of July and it is so pretty I was glad to be able to use it again.

I attached two strips of Botanical Gazette Designer Series Paper to a piece of Very Vanilla card  – one in Marina Mist and Early Expresso and the other in Old Olive – and then embossed it using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  Then I attached another strip of Designer Paper with the gorgeous Marina Mist birds over the top.  I stamped one of the flowers from a Hostess Set called Posy Punch which will be released on the 1st September using Cherry Cobler ink onto Very Vanilla card and punched it out using the Fancy Flower Punch.  (There are 3 flowers in this Hostess Set and they can all be punched using the Fancy Flower Punch – so easy to get the perfect accent.)  I added a gorgeous Antique Brad to the centre of the flower and attached it over the Designer Paper using dimensionals

So simple, but so pretty, don’t you think?

Bye for now, Kris.

A combination card

August 12, 2011

I decided to use two challenges to create this card.  The first one is the Late Night Stampers “All Blue” challenge and the other was a sketch challenge at Sudsol this week.

I started with my base card of Night of Navy and added a Whisper White layer which has been embossed using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  I stamped “Thinking of You” from the Sincere Salutations stampset onto Whisper White card using Night of Navy ink and then embossed it using the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  I added a mat of Night of Navy card which has one edge punched using the Scallop Trim Border Punch.  I stamped the “reedy” image from the Pocket Silhouettes stampset onto Whisper White card several times without re-inking.  I added a mat of Night of Navy  and attached it to the card front using dimensionals.

This is my favourite style of card – clean and simple.

I’d love to hear what you think.

Bye for now, Kris.

It’s All Blue

August 11, 2011

This week’s challenge at Late Night Stampers is to make a card using blue to let someone know that you are  thinking of them.   I also used the sketch at Technostamper this week, although I did take a little licence with the placement of my images.

I used the new In-Colour Island Indigo for my base card.  I embossed the Whisper White card using the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder.  I stamped the small image from the Delicate Doilies stampset (you are going to love this stampset) using Island Indigo ink.  I ran a strip of another In-Colour, Pool Party, through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder and attached it to the bottom of the Whisper White piece.  I added some Whisper White Organza ribbon and tied a bow before attaching the whole piece to the base card.  I cut Whisper White card using the Beautiful Wings Embosslit and added one to the centre of each of the doilies.

Don’t you just love these gorgeous little butterflies.  I still cannot believe that this die cuts 5 butterflies in 5 different sizes.

What do you think?  Is this the sort of card you could send to let someone know you are thinking of them?

Bye for now, Kris.

New Stamp, New Colour

August 10, 2011

Here is a card i made using the gorgeous new In-Colour Wisteria Wonder and a new stampset Delicate Doilies.  I also used some of the new Flirtatious Speciality Designer Series Paper.

I stamped  Whisper White card with two of the images from Delicate Doilies using Wisteria Wonder ink.  I punched one edge of a piece of Wisteria Wonder card using the Eyelet Border Punch, added a piece of Flirtatious Specialty Designer Series Paper and wrapped it with some of the beautiful Whisper White 5/8″ Organza Ribbon.   I attached the whole piece to scored and folded Wisteria Card.  I made a double bow from the same ribbon and attached it using Mini Glue Dots.  I stamped “Get Well Soon” from the Sincere Salutation stampset onto Whisper White card using Wisteria Wonder ink and punched it using the Decorative Label Punch.  I also punched a Decorative Label from Wisteria Wonder card and cut it in half, attaching one half behind the bottom of the Whisper White Decorative Label.  Then I attached this to the card front with the top edge underneath the ribbon.

Very simple really, but this colour is absolutely stunning.  This card is for a special friend of mine who is in hospital this week.  I hope it cheers her up.

Bye for now, Kris.

New In-Colours

August 9, 2011

As a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator we are able to order product from the new catalogue which starts on 1st September on the 1st August.  This is one of my favourite perks as it is always exciting to get your hands on new product.  As part of my pre-order I purchased all of the new In-Colour cardstock and what gorgeous colours they are.  This card was made as part of a challenge to use all of this year’s in-colours on the one card.

I decided to make a quilt panel using four of the new In-Colours – Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party, Lucky Limeade and Island Indigo.  I cut 1″ squares from each of these colours and snailed them to Whisper White card.  I cut a Top Note shape with the Big Shot and then embossed it with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  I attached it to a piece of Calypso Coral card which is embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder and then attached the whole piece to a folded and scored Whisper White card.  I stamped “happy birthday” from the Perfect Punches stampset onto Whisper White card using Island Indigo ink, punched it out using the Wide Oval punch and layered  it on one of the  tags from the Lots of Tags Sizzlet 4 Pack Dies cut  from Calypso Coral ink.  The greeting is attached to the card front using dimensionals.

I think it may be a little overpowering – but aren’t these new in-colours just gorgeous.

Bye for now, Kris.

Technostamper – Friends 24-7

August 8, 2011

I decided to use the soon to be retired Friends 24-7 stampset for the challenge at Technostamper this week.   I also used some of the lovely Botannical Gazette Designer Series Paper which also retires at the end of this month.

I took my colours from the Designer Series Paper and used Early Expresso card for the base.  I embossed a piece of Cherry Cobbler card using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder and attached it to a piece of the Botanical Gazette Designer Series Paper in Early Expresso tones.  I attached a piece of the Old Olive Botanical Gazette Designer Series paper to a piece of Old Olive card with the edge punched using the Eyelet Edge Punch and then attached it to over the embossed Cherry Cobbler card.  I used my Mat Pack and Paper Piercer to punch 3 holes and inserted 3 Antique Brads.  Then I attached this piece to the folded and scored Early Expresso card.  I stamped the bird image from the Friends 24-7 stampset onto Very Vanilla card using Early Expresso ink and sponged the edges with the same ink.  I added an Early Expresso cardstock mat and used dimensionals to attach it to the card front.

I really love the Antique Brads.   There are some lovely designs in the pack but these are my favourites.

I think this card has a real vintage feel.  What do you think?

Bye for now, Kris.

Week 2 Sunny Challenges

August 7, 2011

Well Gwen, Vicky and I are really excited by the interest you have all shown in our new Sunny Challenges and Creations blog.  We are going to post the winner for the first week tomorrow, so don’t forget to check back and see which entry it will be.

Here is the sketch …..

…and the stampset you need to use this week is Friends 24-7.

And here is my creation.

I scored and folded Concord Crush card and added a layer of Whisper White which has been embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  I attached a piece of Pear Pizzazz Designer Paper from the Hostess Designer Series paper Pack – Incolour to Pear Pizzazz card and attached it to the left hand side of the card.  I attached a piece of Peach Parfait Designer Paper from the same paper pack to Peach Parfait card and wrapped it with Concord Crush 1/2″ Stiched Poly Ribbon and tied a knot.  I attached it to the right hand side of the card using dimensionals.  I cut the largest Oval using the Ovals Originals Die from Whisper White card.  I stamped the floral image from the Friends 24-7 stampset onto the oval using Black Stazon ink.  I coloured the image using my Pear Pizzazz and Peach Parfait Stampin’ Write Markers.  I cut a strip of card 1 1/2cm wide from the length of an A4 piece of Concord Crush cardstock and punched one edge with the Scallop Trim Border punch.  I snipped along the other edge and then applied snail to the back of the oval and attached the punched card to create a frame for my image.  I attached the image panel to the card front using dimensionals.  I stamped “24-7”  onto Whisper White card using Peach Parfait ink, punched it out using the Small Oval Punch, added a Pear Pizzazz oval punched using the Large Oval punch and attached it to the Peach Parfait Designer Paper.

I hope you like the sketch for this week’s challenge because I am excited to say I actually designed it.  Being part of Sunny Challenges and Creations is just what I needed to help me push my boundaries and try lots of new things. I hope that I can inspire some of you to try something new in your papercrafting.

Ok so now off you go and create your masterpiece and then visit Sunny Challenges & Creations to add them to Mr. Linky.   If you need more inspiration check out Gwen and Vicky’s examples.  I cannot wait to see all your gorgeous creations this week.

Bye for now, Kris.
