Chocolate Holder Gift For You

April 3, 2014

060I saw a little treat holder on Pinterest and it made me think about doing something similar.  So I searched around for some appropriate chocolate and finally bought chocolates from Aldi.  You get five little chocolate bars in a pack and they are the perfect size for this project.  065 Since I was really happy with the design and how gorgeous it looks, I decided to make a PDF to share it with you.  I won’t bore you with the details here, just download the PDF to get the dimensions.

But I will tell you I used the adorable Watercolour Washi Tape and the Gold Baker’s Twine from the Occasions Catalogue.  I have found that if you use Baked Brown Sugar with this type of gold then you have a perfect match.  I used the splatter stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set and the two butterflies can be found in the Papillon Potpourri  stamp set.

Of course this treat holder also gave me another excuse to use the Scallop Tag Topper Punch.  What a fantastic punch it is too – I love it.

063I’d love to know what you think, and to see what you make using the instructions.  All of the supplies needed to recreate this treat holder can be purchased at my online store.

Bye for now,

Kris

Happy Birthday Ava

March 31, 2014

avas-birthday-card-2014-4I love the cards in a box that are all over the internet and especially on Pinterest.  They are so cute and by following this great video tutorial by Tanya Bell mine will fit into a standard C6 envelope.

I made this particular card for my granddaughter Ava who celebrates her fourth birthday today.

I used Raspberry Ripple card to construct my box and added Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper to Basic Gray card and then to the outside bottom sections of the box.  I embossed Very Vanilla card using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder to decorate the fold out panels and also the back panel of the box.  Ava's-4th-Birthday-card-3I used the images from the Sketched Birthday stamp set to decorate my box.  Each of the images is stamped either in Stazon Jet Black ink and coloured using a Blender Pen and the ink in the lid of the ink pad or stamped using Raspberry Ripple, Gumball Green, Bermuda Bay or Summer Starfruit ink.Ava's-4th-Birthday-card  Most of the images were cut out by hand but the greeting on the front of the box was punched using the 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch.  I used a piece of Window Sheet to attach the number 4, which is cut from Raspberry Ripple card using the Typeset Alphabet Bigz Die.

I added a piece of Very Vanilla card which I stamped with the balloon image, one in each of the four colours to Basic Gray card and then the back panel.  This will give me room to write my message to Ava.

I know that Ava is going to love the fact that it is a “pop up” style card.  If you haven’t created one of these cards yet, then I suggest that you do, they are so much fun and a really quite easy once you know how.Avas-4th-birthday-gift-bag-

Of course I couldn’t just stop at a card, I had to make a gift bag as well.  I used a pre-purchase “white” bag and added my own decoration.  Once again I embossed Very Vanilla card using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.   I added strips of Raspberry Ripple card which I punched using the Scallop Trim Border Punch.  The hats are made using the Pennant Parade stamp set and the four colours previously used.  I punched the hats using the Petite Pennants Builder Punch and the pom poms were punched using the circle punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.Avas-4th-birthday-gift-bag-  The letters for her name were cut from Raspberry Ripple card using the Typeset Alphabet Bigz Die.  I stamped and hand cut the balloons.

I think they make a great gift set – what about you?

All of the supplies used to construct this card can be purchased at my online store.

Retro Fresh Washi

March 29, 2014

0033I saw a sketch at Sudsol a few weeks ago which I really loved, but unfortunately didn’t have time to use during the challenge.  However, I finally had a chance to use it and I am happy to say I still love it.

I added a strip of each of the three designs of the Retro Fresh Washi Tape across Very Vanilla card and then attached it to scored and folded Coastal Cabana card. 0043 I stamped “happy birthday” from the Express Yourself stamp set down the left hand side of another piece of Very Vanilla which I attached to Baked Brown Sugar card and then the card front.  I stamped the flower image from the Embellished Events stamp set onto Very Vanilla card using Baked Brown Sugar ink.  I attached the stamped panel to a layer of Baked Brown Sugar card and then the card front using dimensionals0064I punched three small flowers from Tangerine Tango card using the Boho Blossoms Punch and attached them over the stamped flowers using Glue Dots.  Lastly I added a Large Rhinestone Basic Jewel to the centre of each flower.  Inside the card I added two strips of the Retro Fresh Washi Tape to Very Vanilla card.

Such a simple card to put together but I think it packs a lot of power.

If you love this card as much as I do you can purchase all of the supplies needed to complete this card at my online store.

I’d love to hear what you think.

Sudsol Case Challenge

March 26, 2014

This week Sudsol (an online demonstrator group) had a challenge to CASE a card from the Stampin’ Up! demonstrator magazine.   The card in question used Coastal Cabana as it’s main colour but as I didn’t have any Ruffled Ribbon in that colour, I decided to make mine using Strawberry Slush.

0413I stamped the dotted image from the Happy Watercolour stamp set randomly over Whisper White card, stamping several times before re-inking.  I attached the Strawberry Slush Ruffled Ribbon to folded Burlap Ribbon and then attached the ribbons to the back of Baked Brown Sugar card which is embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  I used dimensionals to attach this to the stamped card to compensate for the bulk of the ribbon.  I punched a 2-1/2″ Circle from Whisper White card and stamped the large background image using Strawberry Slush ink.0423  The original card used the “you make me happy” greeting from the Happy Watercolour  stamp set, However, I changed the greeting to one from the Bring on the Cake stamp set which I stamped using Baked Brown Sugar ink.   I attached the Whisper White circle to Strawberry Slush card cut using the 2nd smallest Deco Label Framelit Die.  The image panel is attached to the card front also using dimensionals under the top half only.  I tied Gold Baker’s Twine through a Vintage Faceted Button and attached it to the image panel using a Glue Dot.

043Inside I stamped the dotted image, again using Baked Brown Sugar.  I stamped the large background image using Strawberry Slush ink which I stamped off onto scrap paper once and then stamped the flower over the top using Stazon Jet Black ink.  I attached Strawberry Slush Ruffled Ribbon to a narrow strip of embossed Baked Brown Sugar card which is attached to the bottom of the stamped card.

It is so much fun CASing a gorgeous card such as this and it’s a great way to get started if you are having any difficulty starting to get creative.

I’d love to hear what you think!

Sketch Challenge 33

March 22, 2014

at Craft Project Central.  Every month Craft Project Central has a new sketch challenge and this month I found the time to complete a card using the sketch. The really fun thing about participating in these sketches is that you could win a free month’s subscription.
0013I stamped Whisper White card using the Hardwood Background stamp and Baked Brown Sugar ink.  I sponged the edges with the same ink and attached it to Baked Brown Sugar card and then Pistachio Pudding card.  I wrapped it with the truly beautiful Strawberry Slush 3/8″ Ruffle Stretch Trim and tied a bow before attaching the whole piece to scored and folded Baked Brown Sugar card.  I stamped the stem from the Field Flowers stamp set onto Whisper White card using Pistachio Pudding ink.  I stamped the greeting from the same stamp set using Baked Brown Sugar ink.  I cut the Whisper White card using the largest Deco Labels Collection Framelit and attached it to the card front using dimensionals0023I stamped the solid flower image onto scrap Whisper White card using Strawberry Slush ink which I stamped off first onto scrap paper.  I stamped the outline flower image over the top using Strawberry Slush ink.  I cut out the flowers and attached them to the card front over the stem.

Inside the card I stamped part of the stem image onto Whisper White card using Pistachio Pudding ink and then stamped the solid flower and detail flower.  I attached a piece of Whisper White card stamped with the Hardwood Background (as before) to a narrow piece of Baked Brown Sugar card and then added Pistachio Pudding card which has been punched using the Scallop Trim Border Punch. This piece is attached to the bottom of the Whisper White card over the stamped image.

MDS Monday – Fun with Filmstrips

March 20, 2014

What a fun sketch for the current MDS Monday challenge.

MDSM57 Scrapbook-001 - Copy

I was sent some photos of my Dad playing golf by a friend and this sketch worked perfectly for them.

mdsmonday57-001-for-net

My background papers and embellishments are from the Downtown Grunge Photobook Template Digital Downloads (126056)  which came with my original purchase of My Digital Studio.  The filmstrips are also part of the embellishments from the same download.  The strip consists of 3 photo boxes, so I cropped one to two boxes and them joined them together.  The other background embellishments are also from the same kit, I just changed up the colour by using the picker tool to select the blue in the sky behind my Dad in the large photo.  It was a really simple layout to put together and a great way to showcase these photos.  I big thank you to Brad for sending them to me.

I hope you are all finding lots of ways to use this fantastic programme.

Bye for now,

Kris
