You’ve been “elffed”

December 22, 2012

These are the Christmas cards I made for my grandchildren.  I have to thank Sandy Hancock for sharing this idea recently.  If you read her blog post you will see this idea has been around for a while, but her post is the one that inspired me.

001-2

I made two cards like the one on the left for my grandsons and four cards like the one on the right for my granddaughters.  I did move the sentiment around on each of the cards, just so they wouldn’t mix them up.  It wasn’t until I had handed them out that I realised that I had forgotten to decorate the toes.   In Sandy’s post they had Silver Glimmer Paper circles on each toe and I was going to add them but completely forgot.   They do look fantastic anyhow, so thanks Sandy for giving me this wonderful idea for the grandchildren.  They loved them.

Bye for now, Kris

Wedding Card

December 19, 2012

You know that I am a big fan of Craft Project Central and I do love to do the challenges  when possible.  The sketch for this month is another fabulous one and I finally had time to make a card.

050I cut the edge of Whisper White card using the Large Scallop Edgelit.  I stamped the small heart from the Tiny Tags stampset onto scrap Whisper White card.  I used the Small Heart Punch to cut them out.  The images are smaller than the punch but it doesn’t matter.  I attached them to the Whisper White card inside each of the scallops and then embossed using the Square Lattice Embossing folder.  Now you cannot see the extra white around the images only the stamped hearts themselves.  I attached the embossed card to a layer of Basic Black card and wrapped it with Cherry Cobbler 3-1/2″ Scallop Tulle and tied a knot.  The whole piece was then attached to the front of scored and folded Whisper White card.   I stamped “happy I do day” from the Word Play stamp set using Cherry Cobbler ink onto Whisper White card and punched it using the Decorative Label Punch051I stamped the heart image in the bottom left corner of the punched shape and stamped another one on scrap Whisper White and cut it out.  I attached the cut image over the stamped image using a piece of dimensional.  I punched a hole in the top of the Label using the 1/16″ Hand Held Punch and threaded a piece of Linen Thread.  I tied the linen thread around the knot in the Tulle and then wrapped it with one of the Vintage Brads, locking the legs of the brad behind the tulle.  Finally I added a dimensional to the corner of the back of the Label so that it would sit where I wanted it to and a small Basic Rhinestone to the “o” in the greeting.

I think it turned out great.  What do you think?  Don’t forget if there are enough entries, someone can win a Free subscription to Craft Project Central just for entering.

Happy Birthday Abi

December 16, 2012

My eldest granddaughter turns 8 today.  I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone.  It only seems like yesterday we were anxiously waiting for her to enter the world and now she is so grown up.

I love to make things for my grandchildren and have had in mind to use the gorgeous Stampin’ Up! fabric in the Essentials Designer Fabric pack.  This pack contains 10 extra-large fat quarters in five colours and two designs.  I think it is so pretty.

Abi's-Birthday-skirt

I made Abi a skirt and then cut down a plain white T shirt and added a frill to match the skirt.  I love how it turned out and I know Abi will love that “twirly” skirt.

Abi's-Birthday-Top

Of course I did buy a couple of other things and needed a way to package them, so I decorated a plain gift bag that I bought at Spotlight (maybe Michaels for my US followers).  I embossed Whisper White card using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder and added a strip of Rich Razzleberry card which has been punched using the Scallop Trim Border Punch, to the top and the bottom before attaching it to the bag. The little dress is made using a tutorial from the Stamp Academy.

017

I have a Gold Membership which allows me access to all their wonderful tutorials and techniques.   The pattern for the dress is from the New Catalogue Edition.  I made my dress from the Rich Razzleberry paper in the Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper.  I added a piece of Whisper White 5/8″ Organza Ribbon to the waist.  My little flower is made by punching the same Designer Series Paper using the 1-1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch, cutting it into a spiral and then winding it around my Paper Piercer.  I use Crystal Effects to hold mine together and added it to the dress using a Mini Glue Dot.  I also added a large Basic Pearl to the centre.  I thought the neckline of the dress needed a little something too, so I added the “string of pearls”.  The greeting is from the Word Play stampset.  I stamped it in Rich Razzleberry ink onto Whisper White card and punched it using the 1-3/4″ Circle Punch.  I attached it to a Rich Razzleberry 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle and then to the bag.

016

I made the card to match the bag using the same embossing folders and the beautiful dress.  The greeting however comes from the Petite Pairs stampset.  Again it is stamped using Rich Razzleberry ink onto Whisper White card, punched using the Large Oval Punch, attached to a Rich Razzleberry Scallop Oval and then the card front.

I love how bright and cheerful this set is and I know that Abi will appreciate it too.

Bye for now, Kris.

Beautiful Season Boxed Set

December 15, 2012

Today I wanted to share with you the project I created for the last round of Stampin’ Fun and Friends which was all about cards for the holidays.

140

I created four cards using the Beautiful Season stamp set.  I love the vintage feel of these cards.  The combination of the Early Expresso Core’dinations card and the new In-colours is really lovely.

143

The Labels Collection Framelits as well as a little bit of paper piercing adds something extra special to the cards.

I have added the tutorial for this set to my Tutorials For Sale page (only $2.50).  It will soon be time for another round of Stampin’ Fun and Friends, I will let you know the details when they are available.

Bye for now, Kris.
