Happy Birthday Abi

December 16, 2012

My eldest granddaughter turns 8 today.  I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone.  It only seems like yesterday we were anxiously waiting for her to enter the world and now she is so grown up.

I love to make things for my grandchildren and have had in mind to use the gorgeous Stampin’ Up! fabric in the Essentials Designer Fabric pack.  This pack contains 10 extra-large fat quarters in five colours and two designs.  I think it is so pretty.

Abi's-Birthday-skirt

I made Abi a skirt and then cut down a plain white T shirt and added a frill to match the skirt.  I love how it turned out and I know Abi will love that “twirly” skirt.

Abi's-Birthday-Top

Of course I did buy a couple of other things and needed a way to package them, so I decorated a plain gift bag that I bought at Spotlight (maybe Michaels for my US followers).  I embossed Whisper White card using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder and added a strip of Rich Razzleberry card which has been punched using the Scallop Trim Border Punch, to the top and the bottom before attaching it to the bag. The little dress is made using a tutorial from the Stamp Academy.

017

I have a Gold Membership which allows me access to all their wonderful tutorials and techniques.   The pattern for the dress is from the New Catalogue Edition.  I made my dress from the Rich Razzleberry paper in the Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper.  I added a piece of Whisper White 5/8″ Organza Ribbon to the waist.  My little flower is made by punching the same Designer Series Paper using the 1-1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch, cutting it into a spiral and then winding it around my Paper Piercer.  I use Crystal Effects to hold mine together and added it to the dress using a Mini Glue Dot.  I also added a large Basic Pearl to the centre.  I thought the neckline of the dress needed a little something too, so I added the “string of pearls”.  The greeting is from the Word Play stampset.  I stamped it in Rich Razzleberry ink onto Whisper White card and punched it using the 1-3/4″ Circle Punch.  I attached it to a Rich Razzleberry 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle and then to the bag.

016

I made the card to match the bag using the same embossing folders and the beautiful dress.  The greeting however comes from the Petite Pairs stampset.  Again it is stamped using Rich Razzleberry ink onto Whisper White card, punched using the Large Oval Punch, attached to a Rich Razzleberry Scallop Oval and then the card front.

I love how bright and cheerful this set is and I know that Abi will appreciate it too.

Bye for now, Kris.

Beautiful Season Boxed Set

December 15, 2012

Today I wanted to share with you the project I created for the last round of Stampin’ Fun and Friends which was all about cards for the holidays.

140

I created four cards using the Beautiful Season stamp set.  I love the vintage feel of these cards.  The combination of the Early Expresso Core’dinations card and the new In-colours is really lovely.

143

The Labels Collection Framelits as well as a little bit of paper piercing adds something extra special to the cards.

I have added the tutorial for this set to my Tutorials For Sale page (only $2.50).  It will soon be time for another round of Stampin’ Fun and Friends, I will let you know the details when they are available.

Bye for now, Kris.

First Edition Snowman & Ornament

December 12, 2012

This project at Craft Project Central by Carrie Rhodes is absolutely gorgeous.   I love our Newsprint DSP and can’t wait to make my own Snowman for my Christmas Display.

Snowman & Ornament(2)

The gorgeous ornament made from the same DSP is super cut too.  It’s a great variation on the ornament on the front cover of the Holiday Mini but uses some punches instead of the ornament framelits.  Take a visit to Carrie’s blog to let her know how much you love her work.

Remember if you would like the tutorial for these projects, just subscribe to the December Edition of Craft Project Central – 10 projects for $10.00.  Amazing value.

Bye for now, Kris.

Christmas Party

December 10, 2012

On Saturday I had a Christmas Party/Luncheon/GetTogether with my downline and my most loyal customers and hostesses.   The weather was kind to us, not too hot and no rain, so we were able to spend time outside in the fresh air.  Some of these ladies have been my customers since I joined back in 2007.

008

These ladies really spoilt me with some lovely gifts, lots were hand made.  There were also lots of chocolate and beautiful edible gifts.

These are the gifts I made for my downline.

006

I used various Stampin’ Up! fabrics to make each of them a wine holder and of course I had to add a bottle of wine.  I also made each one a decorated candle with a “plate” for them to sit on.  I just love that beautiful tulle.

001

The gifts I made for my customers were shared with us at the Brisbane Regionals by Ruth Clarke.  I took one of the Kraft Boxes which you can find in the Annual Catalogue and cut them in half.  I add in a strip of Window Sheet which I embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  This allowed me to add quite a large bag of choccies for each of the ladies.  The top box holds a wooden flower which is infused with the most gorgoeus aroma and something I thought would add a nice touch to each of their homes.  I did add a little Designer Series Paper to the sides of this box.

008

I made a belly band from the 7/8″ Cotton Ribbon in the Holiday Mini.  To make sure it didn’t come apart, I used Sticky Strip and then added a couple of staples.  I made a rosette from Early Expresso card, added a stamped Christmas Tree from the Joyous Celebrations stamp set and a Cherry Cobbler 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle.  I punched a 1-3/4″ Circle from Cherry Cobbler card and attached it behind the ribbon and then using Sticky Strip stuck the medallion to the top of the 1-3/4″ Circle, so the whole thing can be removed to allow access to the contents of the boxes.

009

All in all it was a fabulous day.  I love spending time with these ladies who are now all really good friends.

I am taking a little break from classes so that I can get prepared for the New Year.  Hopefully I will be able to update my Classes page and you will be able to see the dates and what is coming up.

Don’t worry I will be back from time to time with the things I have been making.

Bye for now, Kris.

December 8, 2012

Hooray, its my project that is up today at Craft Project Central.  I love this stamp set (Sentsational Season)  and will miss it when this catalogue ends.  I love the cute little images and the fact that you can use the matching framelits to cut them out.
