Creative Elements Gift Set
Recently while surfing pinterest and various blogs I found a fantastic site called Stamping Moments. Jenny Moors is an English Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and she has some fantastic tutorials for sale which I can thoroughly recommend.
This card is made using one of her tutorials.
The colours are Island Indigo, Calypso Coral and Crumb Cake and it uses one of my favourite sets Creative Elements. Don’t you just love the way the colours and all the stamping create such a gorgeous card. The only thing that I changed is the greeting, I didn’t have the one Jenny used. Now once I created this card, I decided to take the colours and design layout and create this fun note pad holder.
The tutorial for this one is from Nichole Heady and is a free download. I did adapt it slightly to fit the note pads I had on hand. I love how it has the little holder for a pen on the side, so you could tuck this into your handbag and you would have everything you need to take your shopping list or add a note whenever needed. (You must forgive me but I was in such a hurry to share that I didn’t take the time to decorate the pen to match.)
I hope that Jenny doesn’t mind me adapting the design slightly to fit the long narrow shape of the note pad holder.
The tutorial for this card gives two different colour combinations and I think I just might have to make this little gift set in the other colour combo as well.
I hope that you have enjoyed seeing my little creations and that you will take the time to visit Jenny and Nichole and check out their fabulous blogs.
Bye for now, Kris.
Embedded Embossing
The challenge at Late Night Stampers this week is to create something with embedded embossing (or inlaid embossing if you prefer). This card could also fit the challenge at Sunny Challenges and Creations this week as well.
I stamped two images from the Delicate Doilies stampset three times each onto Whisper White card, one using Cajun Craze ink and one using So Saffron ink. I cut around the Cajun Craze images and punched the So Saffron images using the 1-3/4″ Circle Punch. I stamped one of the small flower centres from the Mixed Bunch stamp set three times onto Whisper White card using Always Artichoke ink and punched them out using the 3/4″ Circle Punch. I attached the images to a piece of Whisper White card, ran it through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing folder and attached it to scored and folded Cajun Craze card.
I stamped the greeting from the Loving Thoughts stamp set onto Whisper White card using Always Artichoke ink, attached it to a strip of Always Artichoke card and then to the card front.
I am always amazed at how gorgeous this technique turns out. You can create amazing one of a kind backgrounds or even focal image pieces so easily. If you haven’t tried this technique give it a go – I’d love to see what you create.
Bye for now, Kris.
Sunny Challenge No. 49
This week’s challenge has been set by Gwen and she gave us a “sketch” with the proviso that we must use circles. I found this a fun and easy challenge. We can all do circles, right?
A little predictably I started with a Whisper White card base and attached a layer of Real Red card stock.
Next I punched circles in varying sizes from Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point and Old Olive card stock. The circles also have either a 1/2″ circle or 3/4″ circle punched from within the circle. I added the smaller circles around the larger ones and then added a smaller circle inside the small circle on the large Pacific Point circle (boy that’s a lot of circles). Then I ran the piece through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder – must say this folder is just awesome for this technique. I attached the embossed card to the Real Red card. Next I stamped the circle “happy birthday” image from the Happiest Birthday Wishes stamp set onto Whisper White card stock using Real Red ink. I punched the greeting using the 1-1/4″ Circle Punch, attached it to a Real Red 1-3/8″ circle and then to the card front using dimensionals.
Now off you go and visit Vicky and Gwen and see what inspiration they have for you. Once you have created your card, scrap page or 3d item, pop over to Sunny Challenges & Creations and add it to Mr. Linky.
This is such a fun challenge, I am really looking forward to seeing some fantastic samples this week. In fact if we get to ten entries we are going to select two Rays of Sunshine, so come on join this fun and simple challenge.
Bye for now, Kris.
Same sketch
but this time I used a different image. I love the sketch and colour combo at Sunny Challenges and Creations this past week and decided to use it to make another card. I actually meant to post this yesterday but you know how it is – life gets in the way of the best of intentions, so unfortunately this challenge is already closed.
I attached pieces of designer paper from the Neutrals and Brights Patterns Designer Series Paper Stacks to Very Vanilla card and wrapped the piece with the Chocolate Chip 1/2″ Dotted Scollap Ribbon, only I used the side without the dots. I attached this piece to scored and folded Chocolate Chip card. I stamped the jeep image from the Need for Speed stampset using Chocolate Chip ink onto Very Vanilla card and coloured the image using Old Olive ink and my blender pen. The image panel is attached to Chocolate Chip card and then to the card front using dimensionals. I stamped the greeting from the Petite Pairs stampset onto Very Vanilla card using Old Olive ink, punched it out using the 1-1/4″ Circle Punch and attached it to a Chocolate Chip 1-3/8″ circle. The greeting is attached using dimensionals on the lower portion only, so that I could sit it partially over the image panel.
So there you go, two cards using the same elements but you get a completely different feel. If you don’t remember what my other card looked like, you can see it in this post. I’d love to know which one you like the best.
Bye for now, Kris.
A Simple Christmas Card
I made this card for the sketch challenge at Sudsol last week using the Season of Joy stamp set. I stamped the swirl image from the Season of Joy stamp set onto Whisper White card using Old Olive ink, once in the top left hand corner and once in the bottom right hand corner. I attached the stamped Whisper White card to scored and folded Early Expresso card. I sponged the edges of a piece of Letters to Santa Designer Series Paper using Early Expresso ink, attached it to Early Expresso card and then to the card front, partially covering the stamped images.
I inked the “word” stamp from the Season of Joy stamp set using Ridinghood Red, Old Olive and Early Expresso Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped onto Whisper White card. I attached the stamped panel to Old Olive card and then to the card front using dimensionals.
This is such a simple card to make and would be so easy to mass produce for Christmas.
Bye for now, Kris.
Notecard Set
I made this 3″ x 3″ notecard for the stamp set challenge at Sudsol last week. I stamped the image from the Apothecary Art stamp set using Melon Mambo ink onto Whisper White card. I used the smallest die from the Framelits Labels Die set to cut the image. I embossed Whisper White card using the Petals-a-Plenty Embossing Folder, attached it to Melon Mambo card and then to scored and folded Whisper White card. I attached the image panel to the card front using dimensionals.
I thought it turned out cute so I made 3 more using the same layout.
I made one in Rich Razzleberry using the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder, another one in Tangerine Tango using the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder and the last one in Real Red using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.
Once the cards were made I made a little box to present them in. I used the Scallop Envelope Die to create the box from Whisper White card. I embossed the “flaps” using the Finial Press Embossing Folder. I also embossed the Pacific Point card using the Finial Press Embossing Folder. The instructions for this little box can be found on Heidi Tekunoff’s blog. Heidi has a free down tutorial for this little box and some notecards using the Mixed Bunch stamp set.
I think this is such a cute little set, what do you think?

Sunny Challenge No. 48
This week we have a gorgeous sketch from Vicky and she has added that we need to use the colours Chocolate Chip and Old Olive.
I attached a piece of Chocolate Chip designer paper and also a piece of Old Olive designer paper to Very Vanilla card stock. The designer paper is from the Patterns Designer Series Paper Stacks – Neutrals and Brights. I wrapped this piece with some of the pretty Chocolate Chip 1/2″ Scallop Dots Ribbon and then attached it to scored and folded Chocolate Chip card stock. I stamped two of the leaves from the French Foliage stamp set onto Very Vanilla card stock using Old Olive ink. I stamped the same leaves onto Post-It-Notes and cut them out – using them to cover the images on the Very Vanilla card stock. I stamped the text image from the French Foliage stamp set over the top of the masked leaves using Chocolate Chip ink. I removed the mask and using the dotted image, randomly stamped over the whole piece using Old Olive ink.
I sponged the edges of the stamped panel using Chocolate Chip ink, attached it to Chocolate Chip card stock and then to the card front using dimensionals. I stamped the greeting from the Petite Pairs stamp set onto Very Vanilla card stock using Old Olive ink and punched it using the 1-1/4″ Circle Punch. I attached the greeting to a Chocolate Chip 1-3/8″ Circle and then to the card front. I used a dimensional under the lower part of the image and snail on the top part of the image so that it would sit slightly over the larger stamped panel.
This is a really neat sketch and one that I will be using again. I store my sketches away in a folder and when I am looking for inspiration, get it out and flip through them until I find something that suits my needs.
Ok so now it is time to visit Gwen, and Vicky for some more inspiration. You can also visit our blog and see what our weekly guest designers have in the way of more inspiration. Once you have created your card, scrap page or 3d item, pop over to Sunny Challenges and Creations and add it to Mr. Linky. As always I can’t wait to see what you create this week.
Bye for now, Kris.
Butterflies everywhere
Sudsol (a demonstrator only website) has a whole lot of challenges each week and one is a CASE (copy and share everything) challenge. Usually it is a card shared by Stampin’ Up! in their demonstrator only magazine. This week the challenge used a stamp set which I don’t own and also the new in-colours released in the US last month. I decided to play along anyway using the supplies I had on hand.
My base card is Crumb Cake and I have embossed the bottom of the card stock using the Finial Press Embossing Folder. I stamped the butterfly image from the Cottage Garden stamp set onto Whisper White card using Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral and Island Indigo.
I absolutely adored this stamp set when it was first released but it has been sadly neglected for some time. I punched card stock to match the ink colours using the 1-1/4″ Circle Punch and attached them behind the Whisper White card before attaching the stamped panel to the card front. I stamped the saying from the Cottage Garden stamp set onto Whisper White card using Calypso Coral ink and attached it to Calypso Coral Card. I used my 1-1/4″ Square Punch to create a “flag” effect on one end and using dimensionals attached it to the card front. This is one very simple layout but I love the effect of multiple images to create the feature.
I really would love to hear what you think?
Bye for now, Kris.
A Recycling Project
The challenge at Late Night Stampers this week is to make a project recycling something. Well, recently I had seen someone repurpose a Laughing Cow cheese container and since I had one on hand, I thought I would give it a try.
I used the beautiful Mocha Morning Specialty Designer Series Paper to cover the lid and sides of the box. Since this was my first try I am not too unhappy with the result but I think I would try something different on the sides next time. I made a flower from Real Red card stock using the Fun Flowers Bigz Large Die. I only cut one of each flower on the die but used my bone folder to soften the cardstock so that I could separate each flower into two layers.
By scrunching each flower and then staking onto an Antique Brad, the flower gets a little more dimension. To finish off this little box, I used more of the Mocha Morning Specialty Designer Series Paper to make 4 coasters to go inside the box. My coasters consist of a layer of cork, then a layer of designer paper and then a layer of window sheet. I used the Big Shot Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets to adhere each layer and then cut the coasters using a 3-1/2″ Circle Die (non-Stampin’ Up!).
I think this would make a cute gift for someone special. What do you think?
Bye for now, Kris.
It’s about time….
I shared a little more with you. I have been rather busy since I got home, getting up to date with my chores, helping my Mum and Dad move and trying to get some cards done for my challenge blog (Sunny Challenges and Creations). Despite all that I have done some creating but just haven’t had a chance share, so here is a birthday card I made recently.
I cut a piece of Regal Rose Designer Series Paper from the Brights Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack and attached it to Crumb Cake card. I stamped the greeting from the Bring On The Cake stamp set using Chocolate Chip ink. I attached this piece to scored and folded Chocolate Chip card. I embossed Whisper White card with the “hearts” from the Adorning Accents Embossing Folders and attached it to Chocolate Chip card which has the long edge punched using the Scallop Trim Border Punch. This piece was then attached to the card front over the designer paper. I stamped the cupcake image from the Create a Cupcake stamp set using Chocolate Chip ink onto Whisper White card and punched the image using the Cupcake Builder Punch. I stamped the icing image from the Create a Cupcake stampset onto Whisper White card using Regal Rose ink and punched it using the Cupcake Builder Punch.
I stamped over the icing with the “spotted” image using Chocolate Chip ink and then attached the icing behind the cupcake. The whole piece is attached to the card front using dimensionals.
This is super quick and super simple but lends itself to being suitable for either an adult or a child.
I’d love to know what you think.
Bye for now, Kris.
