Non-Traditional Christmas Card
The challenge this week at Late Night Stampers is to make a Christmas card using colours which are not traditional. I thought I would give this one a try.

I started with Wisteria Wonder and added a layer of Very Vanilla which I embossed using the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder. I punched a hole in the centre top using my Crop-A-Dile and pushed a short length of the very beautiful Wisteria Wonder 3/8″ Ruffled Ribbon through the hole and secured at both the back and the front before attached it to the card front. I stamped the christmas ornament from the Tags Til Christmas stampset onto Very Vanilla card using Wisteria Wonder ink 3 times and punched them out using the Ornament Punch. I folded each ornament in half, attached them back to back and then to the card front over the ribbon. I love the gorgeous 3D look and you can still put these in an envelope to post as it will sit flat.
I stamped Merry Christmas from the Contempo Christmas stampset onto Very Vanilla card, attached it to a layer of Wisteria Wonder, which has one long edge punched using the Scallop Trim Border Punch and then attached it to the card front.
I think this is a combination which works well for Christmas even if it is non-traditional.
Bye for now, Kris.
Happy Anniversary Sarah & Sean
Today is my daughter and son-in-law’s anniversary (eleven happy years) and I thought I would share the card I made for them.
I started with Wisteria Wonder cardstock and added a layer of Very Vanilla card stock which I embossed using the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder but I didn’t emboss down the left hand side. I embossed another piece of Very Vanilla card stock using the Stripes Embossing Folder, added a mat of Wisteria Wonder card stock and then attached it to the left hand side of the card front. I stamped the stem image from the Field Flowers stamp set onto Very Vanilla card stock using Lucky Limeade ink.
I added a mat of Wisteria Wonder card stock and attached it to the card front. I inked the large “base” flower using Wisteria Wonder ink, stamped off onto scrap paper and then onto scrap Very Vanilla card. I stamped over the top using the large “top” flower using Wisteria Wonder ink.
I repeated this process once more and then cut both flower out. I attached them flat to the card front. I stamped “congratulations” from the Perfect Punches stamp set and punched the greeting out using the Modern Label Punch. I cut a mat using the Movers and Shapers Punch Window from Wisteria Wonder card stock. The greeting is also attached flat to the card front. I love how this card turned out and as it happens I used the sketch for the challenge this week at Sudsol.
I want to send congratulations to my sister who is also celebrating her wedding anniversary today.
Bye for now, Kris.
Workshop Make & Take
I designed this card for the make and take at last weekend’s workshop because the Hostess had previously ordered Heat and Stick powder and Dazzling Diamonds and had not been able to get it to work.
I started with a base of Old Olive and added a layer of Whisper White which I embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. The image from the Lovely As a Tree stampset is stamped using Old Olive ink onto Whisper White card. The entire piece is then covered with Versamark ink and then covered with my Heat & Stick/Dazzling Diamonds mix and heat set. (I mix my Dazzling Diamonds and Heat and Stick powder in equal parts which makes it only one step to get the shimmery look to the card front.) I have to apologise because I didn’t take a close up of the image panel to show you the gorgeous shimmer this technique gives. The image panel is added to a mat of Old Olive card stock and then added to the card front. A 1″ wide piece of Whisper White card stock is wheeled using the Soft Holly standard wheel and Old Olive ink. The edges were also sponged using the same ink. Both long edges of a 1-1/2″ wide piece of Old Olive card stock were punched using the Scallop Trim Border Punch and then attached behind the wheeled Whisper White card. The piece is then attached to the card front covering the bottom section of the image panel. “Merry Christmas” from the Petite Pairs stampset is stamped onto Whisper White card using Old Olive ink and punched out using the Large Oval Punch. The greeting is attached to an Old Olive Scallop Oval and then the card front.
This card gave the guests at the workshop an opportunity to try a few different products from the Stampin’ Up! range. Although, I must admit that it is always easy to get a gorgeous card using the Lovely as a Tree stampset.
Bye for now, Kris.
My Tutorial
My latest project for Craft Project Central has now been released and I am really proud of it. At this time of year we are all looking for fun gifts to make for family and friends. We are also in need of accessories to match our outfits when we are attending Christmas functions. With that in mind I created this matching brooch and earrings gift set using Stampin’ Up! card stock. I have also given instructions to turn these fantastic flowers into a gorgeous gift set for a little girl.
Now if you would like to make this fun set, then visit Craft Project Central and sign up for the month of November. At only $10.00 for ten step by step photo tutorials it is excellent value and this month there are a lot of different gift options amongst the tutorials.
Bye for now, Kris.
Upsy Daisy Demonstration
I promised to come back today and share with you the card that I demonstrated at my last workshop. This card uses one of my favourite stampsets Upsy Daisy and the Designer Embossing Frames.
I embossed the rectangle frame using the Designer Embossing Folder onto Whisper White card stock on the bottom right hand side and attached it to scored and folded Soft Suede card stock. I inked the flower image from the Upsy Daisy stampset using my Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped onto Whisper White card stock. I punched the long edge of a narrow strip of Soft Suede card stock using the Eyelet Edge Border Punch, attached it behind the image panel, wrapped it with Rich Razzleberry 1/4″ grosgrain ribbon and tied a knot. This piece was then attached to the card front.
I stamped the greeting from the Upsy Daisy Stampset onto Whisper White card stock using Rich Razzleberry ink and my stamp-a-ma-jig to get perfect placement. I added a mat of Soft Suede card stock and then attached it to the middle of my embossed frame.
I love these new Designer Frames Embossing Folders, they give so many options to create a beautiful frame for an image or a greeting.
I’ll pop in soon and share the make and take we did.
Bye for now, Kris.
A Christmas Hostess Gift
Last weekend I held a workshop for a lovely lady and her friends (Hi Linda). The workshop focused on using our Stampin’ Around Wheels, Heat & Stick powder and also using the Designer Frames Embossing Folders.
I used my favourite box pattern (Gwen’s Quick Box which you can find at the Three Sisters Blog) and added 4 cards. Now I thought it appropriate at this time of year to make Christmas Cards and I used one of our wheels in keeping with the theme of the workshop. The colours used are Early Expresso, Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White.
The base card is Early Expresso card stock and I have added a layer of Whisper White card stock which has been embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.
I used Cherry Cobbler ink and the Sassy Sparkles Jumbo Wheel to cover another piece of Whisper White card stock. I punched one long edge of a narrow piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock using the Eyelet Edge Border Punch attached this behind the wheeled panel, wrapped it with Old Olive 1/8″ Taffeta ribbon and tied a knot. This piece was then attached to the card front. I embossed a piece of Early Expresso card stock using the “rectangle” Designer Frame Embossing Folder and then cut the frame out. I stamped the greeting from the Word Play stampset onto Whisper White card stock and attached it inside the rectangle frame. The greeting was attached to the card front using dimensionals.
The box is decorated in a simalar fashion to the card on both the front and the back.
I love making my Hostess something that reflects the theme of the workshop. We had a lovely afternoon paper crafting and I will pop in tomorrow and show you the card that I demonstrated.
Bye for now, Kris.

SC 017/11
This week at Sunny Challenges and Creations we have a fantastic sketch provided by the very talented Gwen. Along with using the sketch, we need to have a Nursery Theme.
I don’t have many images suitable for a nursery theme, so I went with the Easy Events stampset.
I started with a base card of Chocolate Chip and added a layer of Whisper White card stock which I embossed using the Stripes Embossing Folder. I also embossed a piece of Whisper White card using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. I attached two strips of Chocolate Chip cardstock to this piece which had been punched using the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch and then attached to the front of the card. I cut the middle sized oval from the Ovals Originals Die from Pretty in Pink cardstock and then embossed it using the Oval Designer Frame Embossing Folder. I stamped the duck image from the Easy Events stampset onto Bashful Blue card stock using Black Stazon ink and cut the water from the image.
I stamped the same image onto So Saffron card stock and cut the duck out. I stamped the image onto Pretty in Pink card and cut out the umbrella and hat. Lastly I stamped the image onto Whisper White card and added all the pieces I had cut out to the image. Once it was assembled I punched the whole piece using the Extra Large Oval Punch. This piece then fits very nicely into the embossed oval frame. I attached this to the card front using dimensionals. I stamped “welcome baby” from the Short and Sweet stampset onto Whisper White card stock using Chocolate Chip ink and punched it out using the Large Oval Punch. I attached it to a Pretty in Pink Scallop Oval and then attached it to the card front using dimensionals.
Now you have seen my creation, pop over to Gwen and Vicky’s blogs for some more inspiration. Then once you have made your card visit Sunny Challenges and Creations and add it to Mr. Linky. I can’t wait to see the entries this week – and don’t forget this is a Stampin’ Up! only challenge.
Bye for now, Kris.
Santa’s Sleigh and Card Ensemble
Here is another fantastic project from Craft Project Central. This great Santa Sleigh and card was designed by Heidi Baks. I think it is so adorable and the sleigh would look fantastic as a decoration on the table or side board this Christmas. Please visit Heidi and let her know how fantastic you think this project is.
Don’t forget if you want the step by step instructions then visit Craft Project Central and sign up for November.
Bye for now, Kris.
Flower Fest Christmas
Here is another card I made for this month’s challenge at Craft Project Central. I thought this challenge was only open to subscribers but it is actually open to anyone and the great thing is that the more you enter the more chances you have to win a month’s subscription to the month of your choice.
My base card is Garden Green card stock and I added a layer of Whisper White card stock which has been embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. I punched both long edges of a narrow strip of Garden Green card stock using the Scallop Trim Border Punch and attached it towards the bottom of the card front. I stamped the 5 petal flower from the Flower Fest stampset onto Real Red card stock using Real Red ink 6 times and punched them out using the 5 Petal Flower Punch. I stamped the single leaf from the Flower Fest stampset onto Garden Green card stock using Garden Green ink 6 times and cut them out. I also scored the centre of each of the petals of the Real Red flowers. I attached one Real Red flower on top of another using a dimensional and then added the leaves to the back using Mini Glue Dots. I attached the flowers to the card front using Mini Glue Dots. I added 3 medium Basic Pearls to the centre of each of the flowers.
I stamped “merry Christmas” from the Petite Pairs stampset onto Whisper White card stock using Real Red ink and punched the greeting out using the Large Oval punch. I attached the greeting to a Real Red Scallop Oval and to the card front using dimensionals.
This is a very traditional card but I love it.
Bye for now, Kris.
