Sunny Challenge 56
Well before I show you my sample for the challenge this week, I want to wish my Dad and all Dad’s a Happy Father’s Day. My Dad is going to come over for lunch and to spend some time with me, my daughters and their families. It will be the first celebration we have shared since my parents moved to Beachmere, so I am a little excited. I hope you all have a lovely day spending time with your families and your Dad’s.
The product I am using today is all new – the 2012-2014 in-colours and a brand new stamp set called Betsy’s Blossoms. As a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator I was able to pre-order these and have had a lot of fun playing with them. You can click on the link on my side-bar to view the two new catalogues.
Now on to the challenge.
This week the challenge was set by Gwen. She gave us a simple sketch and the proviso that we had to make a 10cm x 10cm card (4″ x 4″). I embossed Whisper White card using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing folder, wrapped it with Gumball Green 1/2″ stitched Satin ribbon, tied a knot and then attached it to a Midnight Muse card base.
I stamped the bird from the Betsy’s Blossoms stampset using Midnight Muse ink and punched it using the 1-3/4″ circle punch. I attached it to a mat of Summer Starfruit card cut using one of the circles on the Circles #2 die. I stamped the large flower using Raspberry Ripple ink onto Whisper White card and cut it out. I stamped the small group of flowers using Primrose Petals ink onto Whisper White card and cut them out. I stamped the leaves using Gumball Green ink onto Whisper White card and cut them out. I arranged the pieces onto the card front, slipping the leaves underneath the bird panel and arranging the flowers over the top. I have to say I am really loving the new Firm Foam ink pads. They give such a great coverage of ink but you do need to develop a much lighter inking style!
Now it is time to visit Vicky, Gwen and Christine to see what inspiration they have in store for you. Once you have created your card (I think it can probably only be a card), pop over the Sunny Challenges and Creations and add it to Mr. Linky. I am really looking forward to seeing your creations this week.
Bye for now, Kris.

A Blue Christmas
I don’t know why but I have been in Christmas card mode lately. I think it might be because of all the gorgeous things in the new Holiday Mini, released tomorrow (Yay). Anyway the layout of this card is inspired by one that I saw on Pinterest. (Yes, I am still spending too much time there.)
I stamped the greeting from the Many Merry Messages stamp set (retiring) on the Whisper White card using Night of Navy ink, wrapped it with Night of Navy 1/4″ grosgrain ribbon (retiring) and attached it to scored and folded Night of Navy card.
I stamped the image from Lovely as a Tree (NOT retiring, yay) onto Whisper White card using Night of Navy ink and then cut the image into three panels. I attached the image panels to Night of Navy card and then to the card front. I used my Two-Way Glue pen on the trees and then added some Dazzling Diamonds. I absolutely adore the simplicity of this card, although without the bling it would probably be a little too clean and simple.
I’d love to hear what you think.
Bye for now, Kris.
Twitterpated Portfolio and Card Set
Here is the last project for the August edition of Craft Project Central and I’m really excited to share it with you because its my project. I love giving card sets and designing porfolios to present them in. This one uses the gorgeous Twitterpated Designer Series paper which will be available with the release of the new catalogue on the 1st September. There are two pockets inside, one for the cards and one for the envelopes, and also a little drawer to keep the sentiments until they are needed to add to a card. If you would like to make this project just subscribe to the August edition at Craft Project Central. Remember it only costs $10.00 for 10 tutorials.
I’d love to hear what you think of my project.
Bye for now, Kris.
Saying Goodbye
The ladies at my Beachmere Class today are going to make this card using the Upsy Daisy stamp set. I love this set and will be really sorry to see it retire – in only a few days now.
The greeting is stamped using Night of Navy ink onto Very Vanilla card and attached to scored and folded Night of Navy card. The long edge of a strip of Night of Navy card is punched using the Eyelet Edge punch – also retiring and attached behind River Rock card which is embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. The flower image is stamped using Rose Red ink onto Very Vanilla card and attached to a Night of Navy mat before being attached to the card front using dimensionals.
A simple card but I love the colours. Remember you only have a couple of days to order these great products.
I’d love to hear what you think of this card.
Bye for now, Kris
Sunny Challenge 55/12
This week at Sunny Challenges and Creations it was Vicky’s turn to set the challenge. She has given us another fantastic sketch and this time we can use it to make something Christmas. Do you realise how quickly Christmas is approaching?
I embossed Whisper White card using the Petals-A-Plenty Embossing Folder. I wrapped it with Real Red 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon and tied a knot. This piece is attached to scored and folded Real Red card. I stamped the swirl image from the Season of Joy stamp set twice onto Whisper White card using Garden Green ink. I attached the image panel to Garden Green card and then to the card front using dimensionals. I stamped the flower from the Season of Joy stampset onto Whisper White card using Real Red ink and cut it out. I attached the flower between the swirl images and added some Basic Rhinestones for a little bling. I stamped Merry Christmas from the same stamp set onto Whisper White card using Real Red ink and punched it using the Large Oval punch. I attached the greeting to a Real Red Scallop Oval and then to the card front. I used dimensionals under the left hand side so that it would sit over the image panel.
Sadly this is probably the last time I will use this set as it retires in only a few days.
Now for some more inspiration visit Gwen, Vicky and Christine, then when you have created your card, scrap page or 3d item, just visit Sunny Challenges and add it to Mr. Linky. As Christmas is the time of year we send out the most cards, I am looking for a record number of entries this week. If you haven’t time for anything else, at least joining this challenge will get you a little better prepared for the Christmas season.
Bye for now, Kris.
Mummy in the Window Treat Box and Card
This is the latest project at Craft Project Central. In fact there are only two tutorials left for this month. This tutorial was created by Regina Andari. Pop on over to her blog and check out her lovely work, oh, and don’t forget to leave a comment. With Halloween just around the corner, I am sure you all know someone special you can give this to.
Now to get your hands on this great tutorial all you need to do is sign up for the August edition of Craft Project Central. Remember it’s only $10.00 for 10 tutorials. Fantastic.
Bye for now, Kris.
French Foliage
I am loving the inspiration that I get from Pinterest. There are all sorts of amazing things being pinned by people with all sorts of different interests. This card is a CASE of one that I saw recently, which was shared by Holly Melanson on Splitcoast Stampers. You can see the original here. (Holly if you have a blog let me know and I will add the link.)
My version is very similar, however, I changed one colour and the ribbon. I inked up my “c” sized Clear Block using Crumb Cake ink and stamped onto the Whisper White card. I stamped the background word image from the French Foliage randomly over the Whisper White card using Crumb Cake ink. I stamped the two largest leaves from the same stamp set using Cherry Cobbler ink. (My ink pad is one of the new foam pads which are being released with the new catalogue on the 1st September and they are just fantastic. The pads give better coverage of the ink and they seem somehow “brighter”, I think that has something to do with the better coverage.)
I stamped the smaller leaf using Early Expresso ink and the round stamp using the same ink, but I did stamp that one off on scrap paper first. I stamped the circle image from the French Foliage stamp set a couple of times using both Early Expresso ink and Crumb Cake ink. The middle sized leaf was also stamped onto scrap Whisper White card using Cherry Cobbler ink and cut out. I stamped the “happy birthday” from the Bring on the Cake stampset using Early Expresso ink. I pulled a thread in the middle of a piece of Crumb Cake 1/2″ Seam Binding and attached it across the lower section of the card. The image panel was then attached to Early Expresso card. I cut the prongs from a Vintage Brad and attached it to the leaf I had already cut out and then attached it to the card front using dimensionals.
I really love the way this has turned out. Such a beautiful – dare I say it – piece of art, thanks so much to Melanie for the inspiration.
I’d love to hear what your think.
Bye for now, Kris.
Embossed Vellum Gift Bag and Card
Here is the newest tutorial at Craft Project Central. This gorgeous gift bag and matching card was created by Laurie Zoellmer. Take a visit to her blog and check out her amazing work. Oh, and don’t forget to let her know how much you love it.
I just love how elegant this set is. I seldom think about using Vellum when I am creating a new project, but it is a great medium to work with and the result is truly gorgeous.
To get your hands on the tutorial for this great set, just pop over to Craft Project Central and sign up for the August edition. Remember it’s only $10.00 for 10 projects.
Bye for now, Kris.
Magical Masking Take 2
This is one of the cards we will be making next weekend at my Technique Class. This one uses the Magical Masking technique and I wanted to let everyone have a play with this really fun technique. Of course I will supply disposable gloves for those who don’t like to get their fingers too inky. You can find a great tutorial at Splitcoast Stampers and then you can follow the link below the tutorial to the gallery to get more inspiration.
I used Sahara Sand and Pretty in Pink to add the background to the Glossy White card. I stamped the large teacup image and the greeting from the Tea Shoppe stamp set using Always Artichoke ink.
I punched the long edge of a piece of Pretty in Pink card using the Eyelet Edge Punch (I really love this and am going to miss it so much), wrapped it with Whisper White 1/4″ grosgrain ribbon and tied a knot. The punched card is attached to the image panel and then to scored and folded Always Artichoke card.
I’m hoping this will give you some more inspiration to join us at Sunny Challenges and Creations this week and use the Magical Masking technique as well as the very simple sketch.
Bye for now, Kris.
