Set Sail

July 2, 2021

Today’s card is another that I made using the Give It A Whirl Dies. I cut Basic White card using the card front die and using the circle window at the same time. I stamped the lighthouse from the Sailing Home stamp set onto the lower left hand corner using Basic Gray ink. I used a post it note mask to cover the lighthouse and more post-it-notes to mask off all but a small portion across the bottom of the card front. I used a Blending Brush to add Crumb Cake ink.

I masked the Crumb Cake section using post it notes and added Balmy Blue ink using a Blending Brush to create the sea. I masked the Balmy Blue section and added Pool Party ink to the rest of the card front for my sky.

I stamped the bird image from the Sailing Home stamp set twice onto the card front using Basic Gray ink. I stamped the large sailing ship from the Sailing Home stamp set onto Basic White card using Basic Gray ink and coloured the sails using a Light Real Red Stampin’ Blend and the hull using Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend. I cut out the ship using the co-ordinating Smooth Sailing Die. I attached the sailing ship to the card front.

I cut the turning mechanism from Basic White card using the Give It A Whirl Die and stamped the compass, rope and greeting from the Sailing Home stamp set using Basic Gray ink so that they would show in the circle window. I attached the circle from the card front to the back of the turning mechanism and attached it to Night of Navy card using dimensionals. I attached the card front also using dimensionals in the corners only. The whole panel is attached to scored and folded Balmy Blue card. I cut the frame for the circle window from Night of Navy card using the Give It a Whirl Die. To decorate the inside of the card I stamped the anchor image from the Sailing Home stamp set onto the lower left hand corner of Basic White card using Basic Gray ink.

I hope you are inspired to take another look at these dies and perhaps create a card (or two) using them.

Bye for now,

Kris

Make A Wish

July 1, 2021

Yesterday on my Facebook Live, I made a couple of cards using the Give It A Whirl Dies which are a new product in the current Annual Catalogue. I love the idea of moving parts on my card, so I decided to buy the dies and have a try. The dies do not co-ordinate with any specific stamp sets and they don’t come with any instructions. I watched a few videos before embarking on my creating. For my card today, I cut Basic Black card using the Basic Borders Dies, this creates two pieces at the one time. I attached one die cut behind a piece of the Pattern Party Designer Series Paper. I attached the panel to a standard Basic White card front and then used the card front die from the Give it a Whirl Dies to cut out the shape. I love that it comes with a stitched border to give it a little more detail. At the same time, I cut out the basic card front, I attached the circle die and cut the circle window.

I also cut the circle mechanism from Basic White card. I didn’t cut my window in the centre of the card front, and so I had to do a little playing to get the stamped greetings right. I stamped, Make a Wish from the Party Puffins stamp set, the candle image from the Party Puffins stamp set and the cake image from the Party Puffins stamp set into the “window” space using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I coloured the images where necessary using Bermuda Bay and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin Blends. I pierced a hole through the centre of the circle piece I cut from the card front and used a brad to attach it to the back of the mechanism. I added a dimensional to each side of the brad. I lined up the mechanism behind the card front and attached it to Bermuda Bay card.

The Bermuda Bay panel is attached to scored and folded Thick Basic White card. I cut the frame for the circle from Basic Black card and attached it around the circle on the card front. I added dimensionals onto the back of the card front panel in the corners only and attached it to the card front over the machanism. Sounds a little complicated but really isn’t. I stamped the puffin from the Party Puffins stamp set onto Basic White card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, coloured the image using the Light Bermuda Bay and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. I cut out the image and attached it to the card front. To decorate the inside of the card I stamped “happy birthday” from the Party Puffins stamp set using Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Basic White card.

I stamped the fish image from the Party Puffin stamp set onto scrap Basic White card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I masked the fish with a post-it-note and stamped the puffin image over the top using the same ink. I removed the mask and coloured the image using Light Smoky Slate, Light Bermuda Bay and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. I cut out the image and attached it beside the stamped “happy birthday”. I attached the remaining die cut created using the Basic Borders Dies behind a piece of the same Pattern Party Designer Series Paper I used on the front of the card. The panel is attached across the bottom of the stamped Basic White card.

If you haven’t been inspired to use these dies, please feel free to watch my video or search for more on Pinterest. You might be surprised at how much fun these dies can be.

Bye for now,

Kris

Another Purple Birthday

June 29, 2021

I shared a card with you recently that I created after being inspired by a card on Pinterest by Carolyn King. Well, today I have a card created using the other layout in this pin. For this card, I embossed Basic White card using the dotted folder from the Checks & Dots Embossing Folders.

I attached a panel of True Love Designer Series paper to the embossed card before attaching it to scored and folded Thick Basic White card. I cut Basic White card using the largest circle from the Layering Circle Dies and attached it to Basic Black card cut using the largest scalloped circle from the same dies.

I stamped the greeting from the Peaceful Moments stamp set onto the Basic White circle using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The greeting panel is attached to the card front using dimensionals. I coloured a floral bouquet from the True Love Designer Series Paper using Highland Heather and Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blends. I cut out the image and attached it to the stamped Basic White circle. To decorate the inside of the card, I stamped a greeting from the Peaceful Moments stamp set onto Basic White card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I attached a narrow strip of Basic Black card behind one long edge of True Love Designer Series Paper and attached the panel across the bottom of the stamped Basic White card.

I think both cards turned out beautifully don’t you?

Bye for now,

Kris

Purple Birthday

June 28, 2021

I needed to make a card for a friend recently and found these cards on Pinterest by Carolyn King and couldn’t resist creating a similar card. I embossed Basic White card using the dotted folder from Checks & Dots Embossing Folders. I attached a piece of True Love Designer Series paper to Basic Black card and then the left hand side of the embossed Basic White card. I attached the panel to scored and folded thick Basic White card. I attached another pattern from the True Love Designer Series Paper to Basic Black card and then the card front.

I cut Basic White card using one of the circles from the Layering Circles Dies and attached it to a Basic Black scalloped circle cut using the same dies. I stamped “happy birthday” from the Peaceful Moments stamp set onto the Basic White circle using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and attached the panel to the card front.

I coloured one of the flowers from the True Love Designer Series Paper using Highland Heather, Dark Daffodil Delight and Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blends. I cut out the flower and attached the flower to the greeting panel. To decorate the inside of the card, I stamped another greeting from the Peaceful Moments stamp set onto Basic White card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I attached a strip of Basic Black card behind one long edge of a piece of True Love Designer Series Paper. The designer series paper panel is attached to the bottom of the stamped Basic White card.

I love this card so much, so thank you Carolyn for the inspiration.

Grandparents Day

June 26, 2021

Today’s page shows off a selphie taken when we attend Grandparents Day at Jae’s school. It’s not a great photo of Ron and I but it was the only one we got on the day so I will live with it because it reminds me of the special time we spent with Jae. I attached 3″ squares of Sea and Sand Designer Series Paper (which is no longer available) to Basic Black card. I also attached one square of Basic White which I embossed using the Macrame 3D Embossing Folder. The last panel contains my journaling which I printed onto Basic White card.

The Basic Black panel is attached to a Basic White 12″ x 12″ page. I attached Adhesive sheet to the back of a piece of Basic Black card. I used this piece of Basic Black to cut using the beautiful floral die from the Artistic Dies which I attached over the embossed Basic White card. The photo is attached to Basic Black card and then the page, partially covering the die cut.

What I truly love about this page, is that the layout could be so easily adapted to any Designer Series paper or embossed panels and the photo could be either landscape or portrait and it would still work. What do you think?

Kris

Creative Download Birthday

June 25, 2021

Today I have another Bridge Fold card for you but this time I raided some left over kits from class for inspiration. If you need dimensions for the card, please check out my Facebook Live video here. I used Thick Basic White card for the base and the bridge. I added panels of Pattern Party Designer Series Paper to the two outside panels on each side of the card base. I also added the same Designer Series Paper to the Bridge panel. I added piece of Basic White card which I embossed using the Macrame 3D Embossing Folder to the central panel. I printed the flower from the United Through Creativity download onto Basic White card. You can download this wonderful product for free here.

I coloured the flower using the Polished Pink, Soft Succulent and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends before cutting out the image. I attached the flower to the outside panel and bridge of the card. I stamped “happy birthday” from the Peaceful Moments stamp set onto Basic White card using Polished Pink ink and punched it out using the Double Oval Punch. I attached the greeting to Basic Black card which is also punched using the Double Oval Punch and then the embossed panel on the centre of the card. I also attached another piece of Basic White to the back of the card so that I could write a message.

I have to say that it has been fun playing with this fold. I hope you have been inspired to give it a try.

Bye for now,

Kris

Memorable Bridge Fold

June 24, 2021

Yesterday in my Facebook Live, I shared my method for creating a Bridge Fold card. You will find all the instructions on the video with photos of my templates and examples. For today’s card, I used Thick Basic White to create the card base and added pieces of the Expressions in Ink Designer Series Paper across all the panels, including the bridge.

I inked the palm tree image from the Timeless Tropical stamp set using Early Espresso and Just Jade Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped onto Basic White card. I stamped the hibiscus flower from the same stamp set onto Basic White card using Polished Pink ink. I stamped the frangipani flower from the Timeless Tropical stamp set three times onto Basic White card using Pale Papaya ink.

I cut out all of the images using the co-ordinating In The Tropics Die. I attached the palm trees to the card first and then layered on the hibiscus and two frangipani flowers. I stamped the greeting from the Timeless Tropical stamp set onto Basic White card using Polished Pink ink and punched it out using the Double Oval Punch. The greeting is attached to the right hand side of the card so that the left portion floats. I attached the last frangipani to Basic White card which I attached to the back of the card to give me somewhere to write a message. Since this card folds flat, it will fit into a standard envelope.

I haven’t made one of these cards in a while but I have been having a lot of fun creating them. I have one more to share with you tomorrow.

Bye for now,

Kris

Happy Anniversary

June 22, 2021

Today I thought I would share the card I made for my Mum and Dad who celebrated their 67th Wedding Anniversary recently I began by cutting a piece of Basic White card using one of the Layering Circle Dies. I embossed the piece of card with the circle cut out using the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder. I attached the panel to Old Olive card and then scored and folded Thick Basic White card. I cut a slightly smaller circle from Basic White card and stamped the greeting from the stamp set included in the For The Guys Card Kit using Old Olive ink.

he greeting is attached inside the space in the Basic White card. I stamped the smaller floral image from the Art Gallery stamp set onto three times Basic White card using Real Red ink which I stamped onto scrap paper first. I stamped the small single flower over the flower images using Real Red ink. I also stamped the same image onto Basic White card three times using Old Olive ink. I cut out the images using the Floral Gallery Dies. I trimmed the stems from each of the Real Red images. I attached a couple of leaves I trimmed from the Old Olive images behind one of the Real Red flower images and attached it to the card front.

I attached another of the Real Red floral images to an Old Olive image and attached it to the card front. To decorate the inside of the card, I trimmed two leaf images from the Old Olive floral images and attached them behind the last Real Red floral image. The floral image is attached to the lower left hand corner of the inside of the card.

I was inspired to create this card after seeing one on Pinterest by Teah Woodward. Of course, I had to make mine a landscape card but I thank you for the inspiration Teah.

Bye for now,

Kris

Happy 40th

June 21, 2021

My youngest daughter turned 40 recently, which makes you kind of wonder where has all that time gone! So today I though I would share with you the card I made for her. I began by stamping the word image from the Very Versailles stamp set onto Basic White card using Crumb Cake ink. I stamped the leaf image from the same stamp set several times also using Crumb Cake ink. Lastly I stamped the floral image from the Quiet Meadow stamp set several times using Crumb Cake ink. I used a blending brush to add Crumb Cake ink around the edges of the card as well. Lastly I stamped the floral image from the Quiet Meadow stamp set using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I coloured the Memento image using the dark Polished Pink and Dark Soft Succulent Stampin’ Blends. I attached the stamped image to Crumb Cake card and then scored and folded Thick Basic White card. I tied a bow in a length of the Polished Pink 3/8″ Open Weave Ribbon and attached it to the flower stem using a glue dot. I stamped the greeting from the Best Year stamp set onto Basic White card using Polished Pink ink.

I cut out the greeting using the label die from the Meadow Dies, added some Crumb Cake ink using the Blending Brush before attaching it to the card front using dimensionals. I coloured five medium Basic Pearls using the dark Polished Pink Stampin’ Blend and added them to the flower centres as well as one to the greeting label. To decorate the inside of the card, I used the calendar image from the Days to Remember stamp set to add a “4” and then an “0” to Basic White card using the Polished Pink Stampin’ Write Marker. I stamped the greeting from the Best Year stamp set below the “40” using Polished Pink ink. I stamped part of the floral image from the Quiet Meadow stamp set onto the lower left hand corner of the card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I coloured the image using the Dark Polished Pink and Dark Soft Succulent Stampin’ Blends.

Not my usual style of card, but I do love the finished look, don’t you? I hope that Emma loved it as much as I do.

Bye for now,

Kris

Flower Girl

June 19, 2021

Last week I shared a page using a photo of my grandmother at my daughter’s wedding. Well after I had created that page, I found this photo of my granddaughter Abigail who was a flower girl at her Aunty’s wedding. I wanted to make this page co-ordinate with the page last week and since I have loved and used the True Love Designer Series Paper so much I had to use a different paper for this page. I attached the strip of True Love Designer Series Paper across the Basic White 12″ x 12″ page.

I attached the photo to Basic Black card and attached it to the Designer Series Paper panel. I created the journaling on my computer, printed it onto Basic White card and attached it beside the photo. I coloured the flower from the True Love Designer Series paper using Melon Mambo and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. I cut out the floral bouquet and attached it below the journaling. I cut the title from Basic Black card using the Playful Alphabet Dies. I attached the title below the Designer Series paper. I coloured another flower from the True Love Designer Series Paper using Melon Mambo and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends, cut it out and attached it to the lower right hand edge of the Designer Series Paper panel.

Even though I didn’t create them together, I think they co-ordinate very well, don’t you?

Bye for now,

Kris
