Special Birthday cards
I made a couple of birthday cards recently which I cased from Pinterest. I love the cards but I can’t seem to connect to the site to find out who made them, but thank you, whomever you are.
I decided to make mine in two different colours as well as I needed two cards. The first is Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum and Whisper White and the second is Bermuda Bay, Pool Party and Whisper White. I used the Stippled Blossom, Papillon Potpourri and Wetlands(greeting) stamp sets.
The Whisper White card is embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder and attached to the base card. The frame for the sentiment is of course cut using the Oval Framelit Dies. I hand cut the flowers and the leaves and they are attached to the card front using Glue Dots. The butterflies are attached with a piece of dimensional under the wings so that they will stay lifted up.
On the inside I stamped the large flower, covered it with a mask and then stamped the small flowers. I covered the small flowers with masks before stamping the large and small leaves.
I absolutely adore both cards, what about you, which one is your favourite.
Bye for now,
Kris

Freshly Made Flowers
This sketch at Freshly Made Sketches is simply fantastic and if the sketch doesn’t get you going, check out the design team samples – all amazing.
Anyway, it certainly inspired me to give it a go. I embossed Pink Pirouette card using the Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder and attached it to scored and folded Chocolate Chip card. I cut thin strips of Chocolate Chip Designer Paper from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack, attached them to Chocolate Chip card and then the card front. I stamped the flower from the Bloom With Hope stamp set onto Whisper White card using Stazon Jet Black ink.
The flowers are coloured using Wisteria Wonder and Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Markers. I stamped the greeting from the Petite Pairs stamp set onto the lower right hand corner of the image panel using Chocolate Chip ink. The image panel is attached to Chocolate Chip card and then the card front using dimensionals.
Inside I stamped and coloured the images and added a strip of Designer Series Paper and Chocolate Chip card.
I love this card so much we are going to make it at one of my classes at Beachmere Retirement Resort. I think this would look absolutely stunning if you used the Wisteria Wonder Blendibilites and Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp and colour the flowers.
Let me know what you think.

Father’s Day and Project Life
I shared with you a while back the card and gift I made for my Dad for Father’s Day and today I thought I would share my Project Life pages with the photos from that day. I used the Project Life Happiness Card Collection and Accessory Pack to create my double page spread.
I wasn’t too popular with the children because I made them have lots of photos taken, with their Dad’s, their Pop and their Great Grandfather, as you can see by the last photo on the right hand page! Some of the children answered a questionnaire about my husband (their Pop) and the other’s handmade the card that they gave to him.
I wanted to preserve them so I scanned them and used MDS to size them to 3″ x 4″ or 4″ x 6″, printed them and used the Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits Dies to cut them out and add them to the page. I created the title using the Little Letters Thinlets Dies and layered the Whisper White card over one of the Happiness Is pocket cards.
I stamped the chair from The Great Outdoors stamp set using Crushed Curry ink. As you can see I keep my pages fairly simple but I think they look great and it lets the photos be the focus.
Have you tried the Stampin’ Up! Project Life line of products, if not you really should. Because they are colour matched to our Stampin’ Up! products you can easily match the colours to our cardstock, ribbon and embellishments to create quick and easy pages.
Bye for now,
Kris

Another Sketch Challenge
I really do love the challenges on the Technostamper blog. MaryJo really comes up with some fantastic sketches and I love to play along when I get the chance. This week’s sketch is no exception.
I did take a little liberty with the sketch but I think it will still meet the criteria.
I embossed Whisper White card using the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder and attached it to scored and folded Blackberry Bliss card. I took a little piece of graph paper from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack, attached it to Basic Gray card and then the card front. I stamped the “thinking of you” from the Four You stamp set onto Whisper White card using Blackberry Bliss ink , cut a “v” in one end and attached it to Hello Honey card. I stamped the flower from the Flower Shop stamp set onto Whisper White card using Blackberry Bliss ink and punched it out using the Pansy Punch. I punched a small flower from Blackberry Bliss card using the Petite Petals Punch and a 1/2″ circle from Hello Honey card. I layered the small flower and 1/2″ circle onto the stamped flower and attached it to the card front so that it sits over the end of the greeting.
As usual I kept the inside of the card pretty simple. I embossed Hello Honey card using the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, attached a piece of Basic Gray behind the top edge and attached it to Whisper White card.
I love this layout and I am pretty happy with this card. I love it when you comment, so let me know what you think.

Pink Butterfly
I found a fabulous piece of framed art using the Swallowtail stamp from Stampin’ Up! and I pinned it so that I could make my own version. The original one was shared on Stampin’ Connection, a demonstrator only forum by Debbie Blake. Her butterfly was done slightly differently and quite a while ago but it is absolutely gorgeous.
I stamped the Swallowtail onto Whisper White card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured it using the Melon Mambo Blendibilities. Once coloured I cut it out and then covered it with a thick layer of Crystal Effects. I left it to dry for about 24 hours with a strict warning that no-one was to touch it or put anything on top of it! I embossed Whisper White card using the Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder and placed it into a frame which I had on hand, leaving the glass behind the embossed card.
Debbie had explained that she had put several layers of Vellum card underneath her butterfly to get some real dimension. To do this I traced around another butterfly which I had already cut out and then I cut five vellum butterflies. Once they were cut out I layered them behind the coloured butterfly and trimmed away any of the vellum which was poking out from behind the coloured butterfly. I attached all the butterflies together behind the butterfly body using the new Fast Fuse adhesive, because I wanted it to be strong. Then I placed a row of three dimensionals onto the bottom vellum butterfly, about an inch from the butterfly body. I continued with the other butterflies until the coloured one was attached. I simply used Glue Dots on the back of the butterfly to attach it to my embossed background.
This looks so pretty sitting on the table beside the bed in my spare room. Thank you so much Debbie for the inspiration.
I really would love to hear what you think.

Kris

Sketch Challenge
I had some time to play along with MaryJo’s Technostamper sketch challenge. As soon as I saw this sketch I knew that I wanted to use the Amazing Birthday stampset.
I embossed a strip of Lost Lagoon card using the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder and attached it to the right hand side of Whisper White card. I trimmed a piece of designer series paper from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack, rounded the right hand corners using my Envelope Punch Board and attached it over the embossed card.
I stamped the “make today” image onto Whisper White card using Basic Gray ink and then trimmed the card to the edges of the image. I attached it to Basic Gray card and then the card front using dimensionals. I stamped the same image again onto Whisper White card using Hello Honey ink and cut out the words “make”, “today” and “amazing”. I attached the Hello Honey words over the Basic Gray words using dimensionals.
Inside the card I stamped the “happy happy birthday” image using Basic Gray ink. I stamped the same image onto scrap paper using Hello Honey ink and cut out two of the “happy” words and attached them over the stamped words.
I love this card so much, it is going to be part of one of my upcoming Beachmere Classes.
Bye for now,
Kris

Quick Packaging
In my last post I shared with you the presentation box we made for our September Card Class and I remembered that I hadn’t shared the packaging for the August Class. Our cards for the August class were all made using Kinda Eclectic – one of my favourite stamp sets from the Stampin’ Up! catalogue.
We made our presentation bag using Chevron Tag a Bag Gift Bags. We placed our cards inside the bag and turned over the top of the bag to create a flap on the front.
We stamped the “sunburst” image from the stamp set onto Whisper White card using Early Expresso ink. The image is cut using a Circle framelit so that it creates a half circle. We cut another slightly larger half circle from Sahara Sand card and attached the two half circles to each other lining up the straight edges. The half circles were attached to the Tea Lace Paper Doily, lining up the straight edges with the fold on the doily.
We stamped two sets of leaves using Garden Green ink and cut them out. They are attached to the Doily along the left hand side. We stamped the large and the small butterfly onto Whisper White card using Cherry Cobbler ink and punched them using the Elegant Butterfly and Small Butterfly punches. The butterflies are attached to each other using a Glue Dot and then to the doily using a Glue Dot in the centre and a 1/2 dimensional under each wing. Lastly we added three Basic Pearls to the centre of the butterfly. We tied a bow with Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine through a Clothespin and used it to hold the Tea Lace Paper Doily over the top of the folded bag.
I really love how quick and easy it was to decorate the Chevron Bag and can see lots of variations for different occasions. What about you?
Bye for now,
Kris

Envelope Liner Box
I love being able to use things in more than one way as I am sure you do too. So instead of making a box to put our cards in this month at my class we made this cute little treat holder using the largest of the Envelope Liner Framelit Dies.
The cards we made were all for Christmas so the box has a Christmas theme too. I used the Festival of Trees stamp set, matching Tree Punch and the Itty Bitty Banners Framelits. I absolutely adore the gorgeous Under the Tree Designer Series Paper we used on the front of the box. It has a coloured design on one side and a kraft/white design on the other side. Really stunning.
The folded down section on the front of the box is embossed with the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder. Instead of using the stamp to add the baubles to the trees, we coloured Basic Pearls using the darkest of the Cherry Cobbler Blendibilites to colour them before attaching them randomly to the trees. The ladies can place their cards in the treat holder, wrap in cellophane and add a tag to make a gorgeous Christmas Gift, or they can use their cards and instead add a cellophane bag with some chocolates inside the treat holder.
I’m make a tutorial for this to share with you, so check back again soon.
Bye for now,
Kris

Happy Father’s Day
I hope that you are spoiling your Dad’s today or helping your children to spoil their Dad. I am lucky enough to be sharing lunch with four Dads today – my father, my husband and my two sons-in-law.
We made a card at my Beachmere Class a couple of weeks ago using the Amazing Birthday stamp set and I just loved it, so I thought that I wouldn’t re-invent the wheel but use this for my Dad. The card is CASED from Nikki Spencer and I can’t thank her enough for sharing her gorgeous creation – it was so beautiful I didn’t change a thing. Anyway, I used this card as inspiration for the packaging for my gifts.
It’s pretty hard to buy something for my Dad, he has everything he needs and more, so I bought him a very large container of peanuts and also bought him a couple of golf balls. The container of peanuts was round and I decided to just decorate the container instead of wrapping it or putting it in a bag. I cut two strips down the length of an A4 sheet of Whisper White card and stamped it using the diamond pattern stamp from the Dotty Angles stamp set using Lost Lagoon ink.
Because this set is photopolymer it was so easy to line up the pattern along the length of the card. I glued the ends of the card together around the container and then added some stars in Basic Black. I cut the large one using the Stars Framelits Dies and I punched the smaller ones using the star punch in the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. I used Glue Dots to attach the stars to the stamped card. I also stamped the large stamp from the Amazing Birthday stamp set onto Whisper White card using Lost Lagoon ink and cut out the amazing part to attach to the centre of the large star. To finish off the decoration I made a Bow using the gorgeous Burlap Ribbon. The pieces for the Burlap Bow are held together with hot glue.
I used the new Gift Box Punch Board (page 5 in the Holiday Catalogue) to make a small box to hold the two golf balls. I used the directions on the board to make a box from a 8″ x8″ piece of Basic Black card. I decorated pieces of Whisper White card by stamping them with the diamond patterned stamp from the Dotty Angles stamp set using Lost Lagoon ink. I stamped the tag from the Merry Everything stamp set onto Whisper White card using Lost Lagoon ink.
I cut around the outside line and attached it to a Basic Black tag punched using the Note Tag Punch. This stamp set and Tag Punch come as a bundle, so you get to save 15% when you buy them together. The tag is attached to the front of the box.
I love how co-ordinated everything is don’t you?
If you haven’t seen how the Gift Box Punch Board works, take a look at this video by Stampin’ Up. You get directions to make 15 different sized boxes in inches and in centimetres printed right onto the board. I actually found some retired 12″ x 12″ card and made each of the boxes and an additional one that I worked out by reversing the directions.
Have a fantastic Father’s Day.
Bye for now,
Kris

Everyday Adventure Project Life
I truly love how quickly I can make a page come together using Stampin’ Up! Project Life Pocket Pages and the Project Life Card Collections.
This page shows off some photos taken by my daughter Sarah after she received her new background drops. My husband and I had fun getting our photos taken together and with Sarah’s two girls.
I was able to use the reverse side of the Everyday Adventure Project Life Pocket Cards used in the layout on the other side of the Pocket Page.
I added some embellishments to a couple of pockets, added some journalling and a stamp to one 3″ x 4″ pocket and I created a Title on the remaining 4″ x 6″ pocket. I used my Envelope Punch Board to create the “camera” with a little help from lots of photos on Pinterest.
The letters for the title were cut from Basic Black card using the Little Letters Thinlest Dies.
I have scrapped these photos in My Digital Studio previously but they haven’t been printed yet. By using them in the Project Life Pocket Pages I get to see the photos more easily and remember the fun we had.
Have you tried Project Life style scrapbooking yet? If not, do so, it is so much fun.
Bye for now,
Kris
