Romantic Birthday Card
This is one of the cards we are making at my Beachmere class today. I think that I was inspired by something I saw on Pinterest (again! I know I spend too much time there, but it is so addictive).
Anyway I embossed Whisper White card using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, attached it to Old Olive card and then to a Whisper White card base. I stamped the large floral image from the Bordering on Romance stamp set onto Whisper White card twice using Stazon Jet Black ink. I coloured the images using Real Red, Old Olive and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Markers.
I cut the images out, leaving off the smaller flowers and leaves scattered around the large flowers and attached one image to the top left hand corner and one to the bottom right hand corner of the embossed card using Mini glue Dots. I attached Basic Pearls to the centres of the flowers (a girls gotta have bling). I stamped happy birthday from the Perfect Punches stampset onto Whisper White card using Real Red ink and punched it out using the Extra-Large Oval Punch. I attached the greeting to an Old Olive Decorative Label and then to the card front using dimensionals.
I love how bright and happy this card is. What about you?
Bye for now, Kris.
Sunny Challenge 63
Our challenge this week was set by Gwen and luckily she provided it many weeks ago. She has been very lenient on us as all we have to do is use the sketch.
I decided to use my new favourite stamp set (at least for this week) Everything Eleanor and make a bit of a one sheet wonder. I stamped the flower onto Very Vanilla card using Cherry Cobbler ink. I also stamped the flower onto four post-it-notes and cut them out so that I could mask the ones on the Very Vanilla card. Next I stamped the label image using Crumb Cake ink. I also stamped this onto a post-it-note and cut it out. I masked the label and then stamped over the top of everything with the flourish using Always Artichoke ink. Then I cut the card into 3 strips and attached them to Crumb Cake card.
I wrapped the piece with Cherry Cobbler 1/2″ Seam Binding and tied a knot before attaching it to scored and folded Cherry Cobbler card. I stamped Birthday Wishes from the Bring on the Cake stamp set onto Very Vanilla card using Cherry Cobbler ink and punched it out using the Large Oval Punch. I embossed Always Artichoke card using the oval Designer Frame Embossing Folder and then cut around the outside of the frame. I attached the greeting in the centre and then attached it to the card front over the ribbon using dimensionals.
I’m kind of pleased with this and I did have fun using this great stamp set. What do you think?
Ok so now for some more inspiration pop over to Sunny Challenges and see what Vicky and Gwen have created. Once you have made your card, scrap page or 3d item add it to Mr. Linky. We love seeing your creations.
Bye for now, Kris.
Christmas Decorations
I’m holding a Christmas Decoration class on the 10th November and one of the things we will be making is this wooden block “Noel”. Special thanks to my Dad and son-in-law Sean for cutting the blocks for me.
I think this would look sensational on your side-board or even in your entry way at Christmastime. Space is limited for this class so if you would like to make one of these, then please reserve your place early. Check out the Classes and Workshops page for more details on this and other classes.
Bye for now, Kris.
Male card
This is a card we made this week at my Beachmere class. I don’t do male cards very well but I love the way this one turned out.
I cut a piece of Marina Mist card 10.5cm x 4.5cm and attached 1cm strips of Night of Navy card behind both long edges. I stamped “happy birthday” from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set onto Whisper White card using Night of Navy ink. I punched the greeting using the Word Window punch and attached it to the Marina Mist card so that the right hand edge of the greeting was cut off square with the edge of the Marina Mist card. This piece was then attached to scored and folded Whisper White card. I stamped the “log” image from The Open Sea stampset onto Whisper White card using Night of Navy ink.
This piece also has 1cm strips of Night of Navy card attached behind before attaching it to the left hand side of the card front. I stamped the “world” image from The Open Sea stamp set onto Whisper White card and punched it using the 2-1/2″ Circle Punch. The sailing ship image from the same stampset was stamped over the top using Night of Navy ink. I cut Night of Navy card using the 3″ Circle Originals Die and pierced a row of holes around the edge using the Essentials Paper Piercing Pack, Stampin’ Pierce Mat and Paper Piercing Tool. I attached the boat image to the Night of Navy 3″ Circle and then to the card front using dimensionals.
I really like this one, what about you?
Bye for now, Kris.
For Sale Page
I just wanted to pop in and let you know that I have updated the For Sale page on my blog. I have photos of most of the stamp sets and also the dies. I also have lots of punches for sale. The prices do not include postage and handling.
Bye for now, Kris.
Sunny Challenge 62
This week the challenge has been set by Vicky. She gave us a lovely sketch and said we had to make “one for the girls”. This was an easy one for me as girly cards seem to be my favourite. It’s only when it comes to all things male that I get a little stuck.
I cut my Whisper White card in half lengthways to get a tall card that opens at the bottom. I embossed the top half of the card using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. I embossed the Old Olive card using the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder. I attached a narrow piece of Night of Navy card which is punched along one long edge using the Scallop Edge Border Punch behind the Old Olive card before attaching it to the card front. I embossed a piece of Daffodil Delight card using the Stripes Embossing folder and attached it over the middle of the card front. I stamped the image from the Bordering on Romance stamp set onto Whisper White card using Stazon Jet Black ink and punched it out using the 2-1/2″ Circle Punch.
I used Old Olive, Night of Navy and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Markers and a blender pen to colour the image. I stamped the same image twice more onto scrap Whisper White card and coloured two flowers from one of the images and one flower from the other one using the Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Marker and a blender pen and cut them out. I cut the scallop circle from the Perfect Pennants Bigz L Die from Night of Navy card and attached it behind the punched image. I attached this to the card front using dimensionals. The flowers which I cut out were attached over the matching flower using dimensionals, so that you get two layers on one flower and three on the other.
Lastly I added a few Basic Pearls to the flower centres.
I think this is girly enough, what about you?
Now if you need additional inspiration pop over to Sunny Challenges and see what Vicky has in store for you. Once you have created your card, scrap page or 3d item, add them to Mr. Linky. As always I look forward to seeing your creations.
Just to keep you all up to date, Gwen won’t be part of our challenge this week as her husband has just undergone an operation. Everything seems to be going according to plan but if she hasn’t already prepared a challenge card, then she won’t be participating at least for the next couple of weeks, she is saving all her energy to look after Ron. Hopefully he will be back on his feet in no time.
Bye for now, Kris.
My Whiteboard
I have already told you that I love Pinterest and can waste, er spend, many hours there looking at all the beautiful pins. One of the times I was looking I saw a great idea to use a photo frame as a whiteboard. Now I don’t know about you but I have reached the age when I need a shopping list. I set off to the supermarket to get a few items and when I get there I have completely forgotten what I wanted, so I buy other things I probably don’t need and arrive home and immediately remember what it was I wanted. So I decided to make a whiteboard from a photoframe to hang inside my pantry. I can duly note down what I need when I run out and transfer the items to a shopping list before setting out.
I bought my frame at one of our local discount stores (Sam’s I think) for $10.00. Its a good size as it holds a full sheet of A4, with plenty of room for me to keep my shopping list.
I decorated a sheet of Very Vanilla A4 card using Crumb Cake ink. Firstly I inked up the “E” sized clear block and stamped that a few times, then I inked up the En Francaise Background stamp using the same ink, again stamping several times. Lastly I used the swirly image from the Everything Eleanor stamp set.
I stamped the flower images from the Everything Eleanor stamp set onto Very Vanilla card using Ridinghood Red, Cherry Cobbler and Bravo Burgundy ink and cut them out. I used the Blossom Petals Builder punch to make the leaves, cutting them from Garden Green card. I inked up one of the leaves from the French Foliage stamp set using Garden Green ink and added the punched leaves, this gives the punched cardstock the look of a real leaf.
I hung it inside my pantry door using those new “velcro” photo hangers and added a little cord holder for my whiteboard marker. Shopping should be much better now.
I’d love to hear what you think of this idea.
Bye for now, Kris.
Holiday Catalogue Ornament
Ever since the Holiday Mini Catalogue was released, I have seen lots of variations on the ornament on the front cover. Of course I had to make one for myself and this is my variation. I kind of liked the symmetry of six petals, especially because the snowflake has six points on it. Most of the ones I have seen have five petals, which didn’t seem quite right to me.
I used Night of Navy card to cut the large ornaments and Whisper White to cut the small ones. There are four ornaments to each petal, six petals, 24 ornaments altogether for each colour. I used some of the Night of Navy designer paper from the Regals Designer Series Paper Stacks to make the rosette in the middle and added a Regals Designer Button tied with Whisper White Bakers Twine to the centre. Of course, the Snowflake is cut using Silver Glimmer Paper.
I decided to make my ornament double sided so that I could hang it between the tv room and the family room for Christmas. That’s a total of 48 ornaments for each colour. I did cut the Night of Navy and Whisper White card into strips so I could cut both colours together. Now I just need to have a go at making one which is stamped first.
This second version is made from Cherry Cobbler card and is one that we are going to make in my upcoming Christmas Decoration Class. More details will be posted on the Classes page soon.
I’d love to hear what you think.
Bye for now, Kris.

Sunny Challenge 61
The Sunny Challenge this week has been set by me. I provided a sketch and the proviso to use something from the new catalogue. Very easy.
I embossed Very Vanilla card using the Stripes Embossing Folder and attached it to scored and folded Cherry Cobbler card. I attached two pieces of designer series paper from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack (new in the holiday mini), which are actually the two sides of one piece of designer paper. I inked the image from the Embellished Events stamp set (new in the annual Catalogue) using Lucky Limeade ink and then used my blender pen to remove the colour from the flowers (a technique I learned on the net somewhere – if it’s your’s please let me know and I will give you credit). Once the Lucky Limeade colour was removed, I used my blender pen and Cherry Cobbler ink to colour the flowers. I found this gave me a better depth of colour than if I used my Stampin’ Write Markers. The image is stamped onto Very Vanilla card and punched using the 2-1/2″ Circle Punch. I cut Lucky Limeade card using the 3″ Circle Originals Die.
I attached the punched image and then used the circles on the Esssentials Paper-Piercing Pack (new in the annual Catalogue) to create the pierced circle around the image. The image panel is attached to the card front using dimensionals. Just for fun (and because I had a smudge of ink) I created a bow using the Cherry Cobbler 1/2″ Seam Binding and attached it using Mini Glue Dots. I think I have used enough new product!
Now for some more inspiration pop over and visit Gwen, Vicky and Christine, once you have created your card, scrap page or 3d item visit Sunny Challenges and Creations and add them to Mr. Linky. Can’t wait to see what you all create.
Bye for now, Kris.
