Sunny Challenges Week 36
This week’s challenge has been brought to us by Gwen and what a pleasure it is to have her back after her break to take care of family. I’m sure I am not the only one who has missed seeing her gorgeous work. But back to the challenge – we have a lovely sketch and that’s it. You can do whatever you want with it, use any stamp set, any colours and any technique that you wish.
I inked the tree image from Lovely as a Tree using my Old Olive and Early Expresso Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped onto Whisper White card stock. I attached a mat of Early Expresso card stock and attached it to scored and folded Whisper White card stock. I attached two different patterns from the Letters to Santa Designer Series Paper to Early Expresso card stock and attached them to the right hand side of the card front. I stamped the greeting from the Perfect Punches stamp set onto Whisper White card stock using Early Expresso ink. I punched the central part of the image using the 1-3/8″ Circle Punch and attached it to a Ridinghood Red 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle. The greeting is attached to the card front using dimensionals.
This is a super quick and super simple card. I love how using the designer series paper makes it so easy to have a perfectly co-ordinated card.
Anyway now it’s time to visit Gwen, Vicky and Tess and see what gorgeous creations they have for your inspiration. Once you have made your card, scrap page or 3d item, pop over to Sunny Challenges and Creations and add it to Mr. Linky. I can’t wait to see what you come up with this week.
Bye for now, Kris.
Happy Birthday Ron
Today is my lovely husband’s birthday so I thought I would share with you the card that I made for him. He is very supportive of my card making and would have been disappointed if I hadn’t made something especially for him.
I used the largest image from the Extreme Elements stamp set and stamped onto Whisper White panels, using each of the following inks – Old Olive, Real Red, Pacific Point and Pumpkin Pie. I attached the four stamped panels to Basic Gray card stock and then to scored and folded Basic Black card stock. I used the same inks and a couple of the other images from the Extreme Elements stamp set to stamp onto another Whisper White panel and then stamped the greeting from the Word Play stamp set over the top using Basic Gray ink. I attached this panel to Basic Gray card stock and then to the card front using dimensionals.
For the inside of the card I stamped the greeting from the On Your Birthday stamp set onto Whisper White card. I used the largest image from the Extreme Elements stamp set and the same inks as before to stamp around the greeting, leaving enough room for me to write my birthday wishes. I attached the Whisper White card to Basic Gray card stock and then to the inside of the card.
It is pretty simple really but he seemed to like it.
Bye for now, Kris.
A special birthday card
I was asked by a friend to create a birthday card for her nieces 30th birthday. The card has to be posted so it couldn’t be too bulky. The sketch at Craft Project Central this month was just perfect for my needs.
I embossed Whisper White card stock using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing folder. I punched a strip of Sahara Sand card stock along both long edges using the Scallop Trim Border Punch and attached it on top. I wrapped Wisteria Wonder 3/8″ Ruffled Ribbon around the punched strip and then added a Filigree brad with an Incolour Designer Printed Brad through the centre. I attached this piece to scored and folded Sahara Sand card stock. I punched Wisteria Wonder card stock four times using the Postage Stamp Punch and then attached them to a piece of Blushing Bride card stock.
I ran this through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder and then attached it to the card front using dimensionals. I stamped the small floral image from the Tea Shoppe stamp set onto Whisper White card three times using Stazon Jet Black ink and coloured the images using Wisteria Wonder and Lucky Limeade Stampin’ Write Markers and a Blender Pen. I punched the images using the 1″ Square Punch and attached them to the centre of the embossed Wisteria Wonder postage stamps using Mini Glue Dots. I cut Wisteria Wonder with a
Sizzix sizzlit die (non-Stampin’ Up!) to get my “30” and attached them to a punched 1″ square of Whisper White card stock and then to the centre of the last embossed postage stamp, this time using dimensionals.
I’d love to hear what you think of this.
Bye for now, Kris.
Simply Scored Scoring Tool
One of the fantastic new products in the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue is the Simply Scored Scoring Tool. The tool is set up to read in inches and has 1/8″ increments for scoring. The tool itself comes with a stylus and markers to help when doing multiples of one project. It also has an additional plate which fits on top of the base plate and this is set up for metric measurement. Just watch the video to get a better idea of what it is all about. Once you have seen this fantastic tool, be sure to contact me to see how you can get one for yourself.
Just to show you how simple it is to get great results using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool, here is a box I made. I cut Basic Gray cardstock for the base to 10-5/8″ x 6-3/4″ and scored at 1″ on all 4 sides. Then I cut Whisper White card stock for the base to the same size and using a box making shim which I found on Connie Stewart’s blog, again scored at 1″. Now the shim works to make the lid just a little bigger all around. I trimmed 1/4″ off the sides of the Whisper White card so that it wasn’t as deep as the base. I find this easier than trying to calculate different measurements for the lid (I’m no mathematical genius). It works every time.
If you buy one of the Simply Scored Scoring Tools and the Simply Scored Metric Scoring Plate from me before the end of April I will pay the postage and handling (Australian customers only).
If you need any more information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Bye for now, Kris.
A Little Basket
Well here I am again with another project using the Framelits Labels Collection Dies. I have made these little baskets using the Top Note Die and thought how pretty it would look using the Labels Collection Dies.
I cut Pretty in Pink card stock using the largest Labels Collection Die making sure that I cut it so that the fold would be on the short side of the die. I scored 1″ from both sides of the fold line. I created a matchbox and attached it between the 1″ score lines. I also cut the next smallest die using Whisper White card stock and embossed it using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing folder. I punched two holes at the top of the die so that I could thread my ribbon through to keep the basket closed.
To make my flower I punched two pieces from Whisper White card stock using the Butterfly Punch.
I used my Elegant Eggplant Stampin’ Write Marker to add colour around the edges of the wings. I also a Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Marker to add colour to the centre of each butterfly. I sprayed the butterflies with water and scrunched them into tight little balls. I opened them out carefully and left them to dry. Once dry I put one butterfly on top of the other crosswise and used my Paper Piercing tool and Mat Pack to add a hole in the centre through both butterflies. I used a Basic Black brad to go through the hole and keep the butterflies together to give an effect like a pansy. I cut Wild Wasabi card stock using the Little Leaves Sizzlit. I attached the leaves to the front of the box and then the flower over the top using a Mini Glue dot.
My ribbon is actually Whisper White 5/8″ Organza which I placed into a plastic bag and sprayed with water. I added a couple of drops of Elegant Eggplant reinker and made sure that the ribbon was evenly coloured and then left it to dry in the sun. Unfortunately the ribbon has dried a slightly different shade, probably because it was dried in the sun. Anyway I think it looks pretty and looks nicer than the Whisper White ribbon would have.
Well what do you think? Aren’t these dies amazing. I am sure that over time I can think of lots more ways to use them.
Bye for now, Kris.
Sunny Challenges Week 35
Vicky has set the challenge this week at Sunny Challenges & Creations. She has provided a great sketch and asked that we add “mothers”. Since it is almost Mother’s Day, I think that this should appeal to quite a few of you who need to make a card and get it off to Mum.
I attached Melon Mambo card stock to Very Vanilla card stock and then embossed the whole piece using the Flower Garden Embossing Folder which was released in the Summer Mini and is now available as a carry-over item. I cut Basic Gray card stock using the Two Tags Die and attached it to the embossed card stock. I wrapped Old Olive 5/8″ Satin Ribbon around the lower edge of the embossed card stock and then attached the whole piece to scored and folded Old Olive card stock. I cut a sliver of Melon mambo card stock, tied it through a Very Vanilla button and then attached it to the left hand side of the ribbon using a Mini Glue Dot.
I printed “mother” on my computer and punched it out using the Word Window Punch. I sponged the edges with Basic Gray ink and then attached it to the right hand side of the Ribbon. I punched three 1-3/4″ Scallop Circles from Melon Mambo card stock. I separated the layers scrunched the card stock and then stacked them onto a brad before scrunching them again. Once opened out you get this gorgeous “carnation” effect. The flower is attached to the bottom of the tag using Mini Glue Dots.
Can you believe this is the first time I have used this embossing folder!! Don’t know why I waited so long, it is absolutely gorgeous.
Anyway, now it is time to see what Tess and Vicky have created this week. Once you have made your card, scrap page or 3D item, pop over to Sunny Challenges and Creations and add it to Mr. Linky. This challenge should get lot’s of you thinking about Mother’s Day so I look forward to seeing some fantastic creations.
Bye for now, Kris.
A Easter Card
Today I am sharing with you a quick project I made using the Framelits Labels Collection. I really do love these dies.
I made Easter cards for my grandchildren using the largest of the Framelits Labels Collection dies. I cut Chocolate Chip card stock on the fold lengthwise to give me a card. I added a punched bunny to the card front. I am sure that I have CASED this bunny from one of the many that I have seen online. If it is your bunny, please let me know so that I can give you credit.
I used the following punches –
Ornament Punch – body
Large Oval – feet and ears
Small Oval (retired) – feet and ears
1-1/4″ Circle – face
3/4″ Circle – Cheeks
largest circle on the Two Step Owl punch – nose
medium circle on the Two Step Owl – eyes.
I put my bunny together and then attached it to the card front.
I created the greeting on the computer, printed it onto Whisper White card stock and punched it using the Word Window Punch. I added a Chocolate Chip Modern Label and attached the greeting to the card front using dimensionals.
I made four bunnies using Pretty in Pink/Whisper White and two bunnies using Bashful Blue/Whisper White combinations.
I printed a message for the inside using the computer and Whisper White card. I cut the greeting using one of the Framelits Labels Collection dies.
They are really simple and were quick to put together.
Bye for now, Kris.
Tea for Three
Today I am playing with a new stamp set from the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue – Tea Shoppe. This is such a lovely “oldy worlde” set. The sketch challenge at Sudsol was perfect for one of the images.
I embossed a piece of Whisper White card stock using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder and attached it to scored and folded Ridinghood Red card stock. I attached a piece of the Twitterpated Designer Series Paper (also from the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue) to Pear Pizzazz card stock and attached this to the centre of the Whisper White card stock. I stamped the tea cups from the Tea Shoppe stamp set in Ridinghood Red ink onto Whisper White card stock and added a layer of Basic Gray card stock. I attached the image panel to the card front using dimensionals.
This card has one of the things I love most about clean and simple and that’s lots of white. What do your think? Do you like it?
Bye for now, Kris.
Butterflies anyone
I love the Beautiful Wings embosslit and still cannot believe that you can get 5 butterflies out of such a small piece of card stock. Anyway, I decided to use them on my card for this weeks sketch challenge at Stamping 411.
I embossed a piece of Whisper White card stock using the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder and attached it to scored and folded Rich Razzleberry card stock. I embossed another piece of Whisper White card stock using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder and attached it to a mat of Rich Razzleberry card stock and then to the card front using dimensionals. I cut Rich Razzleberry card stock using the Beautifil Wings embosslit to get four of the largest butterflies.
I attached these to the card front using a Mini Glue Dot in the centre of the body of the butterfly and half a dimensional under each wing. I cut 3 Basic Pearls and attached them to each of the butterflies.
I absolutely love Rich Razzleberry and Whisper White together. Let me know what you think of this card because I love it.
Bye for now, Kris.
A Mini Album
Today I am sharing with you a little project I made to show off some photos that my daughter Sarah took of her children playing in the backyard. I also got to play around with my new Cinch binder which was a present from my husband for my last birthday. I desperately needed this binder but this is the first time I have used it in nearly 3 months. Oh well, I really did need it!!
Anyway down to the details. I used the backing board that comes in the packet with the designer paper and cut the largest of the Dies from the Framelit Dies Labels Collection. (These are just gorgeous and now you too can have them, just check out the link to the new Autumn/Winter Mini Album – trust me, you will need everything.) I also cut two from Basic Black as well as some from Very Vanilla. I used the Basic Black dies for the front and back covers and the Very Vanilla ones for the inside of my pages. Once I had attached the card stock to the cardboard I trimmed them down the left hand side to get a straight edge.
To decorate the front I stamped the image from the Apothecary Art stamp set and coloured in the image with Melon Mambo and Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers and a Blender Pen. I hand wrote my title using the Stampin’ Write Journaller. I stamped two images from the Bordering on Romance stampset using Black Stazon ink onto Very Vanilla card stock. I did use a mask so that I could stamp them as if it was one long floral image and then coloured the images using Melon Mambo and Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers and a Blender Pen. I cut the images out and attached them to the front of the Album.
I cut the photos using the Framelits Dies Labels Collection and added them to the inside of the Album using Basic Black frames and the First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper. I also used part of one of the images from the Bordering on Romance stampset to decorate each page. I coloured them using Stampin’ Write Markers and a Blender Pen in colours that matched the photos. Of course I did bind my pages before I added the embellishments so that I would know where they fitted.
I really love the way this has come together and it is so easy for me to take in my bag and show off my grandchildren. If you would like to see the full size versions of these photos them please visit Sarah’s Photography blog – Sarah Jane Photography.
If you would like a copy of the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue and you don’t have a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator then please contact me so that I can get one to you.
Bye for now, Kris.
