Stitched Stockings Make and Take
Last night I held a workshop for some very special customers of mine (Hi Lynda, Hi Sharron). These ladies were my very first Hostesses and they are still very loyal customers, but more than that they are my good friends.
I wanted everyone to be able to play with the Stitched Stockings stampset and the matching Stocking Tag Punch. Lynda was lucky enough to earn this for Free simply by hosting a qualifying workshop.
The base card is real red and we added a layer of Whisper White card stock which is embossed on the top section using the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder. We added a strip of Garden Green card stock which has been embossed using the Stripes Embossing Folder. We embossed another piece of Whisper White card stock using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder and wrapped it across the top with a piece of Real Red 1/4″ grosgrain ribbon. This was then attached to a mat of Real Red card stock and attached to the card front using dimensionals. We stamped one stocking from the Stitched Stockings stampset onto Whisper White card stock using Garden Green ink and the other stocking using Real Red ink. We used the matching Stocking Tag punch to punch them out. We attached them to the card front and then added a small Basic Rhinestone to the Real Red stocking. We stamped “very merry” from the Short and Sweet stampset using Real Red ink onto Whisper White card and punched it out using the Word Window Punch and attached it to a Real Red Modern Label. The greeting is attached to the card front using dimensionals. Lastly we tied a bow and added it to the card front above the stockings.
Actually I forgot to take my Short and Sweet stampset with me but luckily Lynda has almost as much Stampin’ Up! stock as I do and we used one of her stampsets, so their greeting is not quite the same. So thanks Lynda for being such a great customer and having something we could use!
The card itself has lots of bits and pieces but because we used the Big Shot and the Embossing Folders it came together very quickly.
Bye for now, Kris.
A Halloween Treat
The challenge this week at Late Night Stampers is to create a Halloween Treat Holder. This is not a traditional Australian Holiday and I don’t usually do anything to celebrate, however, there are more and more children who love the excuse of collecting extra sweets. So I thought I would try and come up with something for this challenge.
I love the new Petite Pocket XL Die in the catalogue and this gave me an excuse to play with it. I don’t have any Halloween stampsets so I made a little punch bat/owl. I cut my Petite Pocket from Always Artichoke cardstock and assembled the pouch. It really is cute and it can be closed but I have left mine open. I used my Owl Builder Punch and created the basic owl and then I punched two 1 3/8″ circles from black cardstock and then punched them with the 1 3/4″ scallop circle to make the little bat wings. I had to attach him on an angle to fit him on the front of the pouch. I printed Happy Halloween onto Whisper White card stock using the computer and then punched it out using the Word Window Punch. I attached it to a Basic Black Modern Label and attached it to the bottom of the pouch.
I don’t think he is very scary, more like an owl dressed up for Halloween, but cute all the same. Of course it needs a little treat to go inside – not sure what yet. I’d love to hear what you think.
Bye for now, Kris.
Technostamper Challenge 194
Well I finally had a chance to play along with the sketch challenge at Techno Stamper this week. I love the sketches on this blog and really do love to be able to play along.
I started with Cherry Cobbler card stock, scored and folded to make the base card. I added a layer of Crumb Cake card stock which has been embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. I added another layer of Cherry Cobbler which has also been embossed, this time using the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder. I attached a narrow strip of Crumb Cake striped Designer Paper from the Neutrals Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack to a strip of Always Artichoke card stock and then attached this to the card front over the Cherry Cobbler and Crumb Cake panels. I cut the middle sized oval from Very Vanilla card stock using the Ovals Originals Die. I stamped the pot base from the Pennant Parade stampset onto Very Vanilla Card using Cherry Cobbler ink and cut it out.
I stamped the tree image from the same stampset onto Very Vanilla card stock using Always Artichoke ink and punched it out using the Petite Pennants Builder Punch. I also stamped the star image using Daffodil Delight ink onto Very Vanilla card stock and cut it out. I attached the pot base onto the Very Vanilla card stock oval and then attached the tree over the top using dimensionals. I attached the star to the top of the tree and coloured it using the Two-Way Glue Pen and then sprinkled it with Dazzling Diamonds. The oval is attached to the card base using dimensionals. I wasn’t going to add a sentiment to this card but at the last minute decided to stamp the “Merry Christmas” from the Contempo Christmas stampset onto the Crumb Cake Designer Paper using Cherry Cobbler ink. Lucky for me I used the stamp-a-ma-jig and it worked perfectly.
I am really happy with the finished product. What do you think?

Stamping 411 Challenge 222
Well sorry for my absence, but life has been a little hectic. I have two workshops next weekend which I have been busy preparing for. Anyway I finally found time to stamp for fun and I made this card using the sketch from Stamping 411 this week.
I decided to go with Night of Navy and Whisper White for this Christmas card. I also wanted to make something using heat embossing. I embossed a piece of Whisper White card stock using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder and wrapped the left hand side with Night of Navy 1/4″ grosgrain ribbon. This piece was then attached to the scored and folded Night of Navy card stock base card. I cut a Top Note from Night of Navy card stock and then cut it again so that I got this fancy square shape. I cut the largest oval using the Ovals Originals Die from Whisper White card stock and stamped the tree image from the Lovely as a Tree stampset using Night of Navy ink. I then used my Versamark ink pad to ink the whole of the oval. I added Heat and Stick powder and heat set it and then added Dazzling Diamonds and heat set it again. I love these shimmery panels, they look so Christmassy – even though we don’t get snow in Australia at Christmas (well not regularly anyway). I attached the Whisper White Oval to the fancy Top Note and then attached it to the right hand side of the Whisper White card. I inked “noel” from the Many Merry Messages stampset firstly with Versamark and then with Night of Navy ink and stamped onto Whisper White card.
I heat embossed the greeting using Clear Embossing Powder. If you ink your stamp this way you can get coloured embossing and it doesn’t ruin your Versamark ink pad – just remember use the Versamark first and then the coloured ink pad. I used my Large Oval Punch to punch out the greeting and sponged the edges with Night of Navy ink. I attached the greeting to the card front using dimensionals. Lastly I tied a bow and added it to the card front above the greeting using Mini Glue Dots. I am pretty happy with this although I have taken a little liberty with the sketch.
I’d love to hear what you think.

SC 010/11
Here we are again at the start of another challenge week at Sunny Challenges and Creations. This week’s sketch has been brought to us by Gwen and she has stipulated that we must add a bird, animal, fish, bugs or insect to our creation.
I thought this sounded easy when she told me but I had a little trouble coming up with my design.
I started with a Daffodil Delight scored and folded base card. I added a layer of Whisper White card stock which I have embossed using the Stripes embossing folder.
I discovered that when you use Whisper White card stock with this folder you can easily tear it as the folder is deeply embossed, so I tried embossing with no tabs on the base plate when I ran it through the Big Shot and it worked a treat. Still great embossing but no tearing of the card stock. The embossed cardstock was attached to the card base using Mini Glue Dots. I ran a piece of Calypso Coral card stock through the Crimper and attached it to the left hand side of the card front, again using Mini Glue Dots. I stamped the fish from the Ocean Commotion stampet onto Whisper White card using Calypso Coral ink and then stamped again onto a post it note and cut the image out. I attached the post-it note image over the stamped image and then stamped the sea horse image from the same stampset partially over the fish. I stamped the fish onto a post-it note and cut it out and attached it over the stamped image. With both images covered I then stamped the sea weed image over the top using Baja Breeze ink. I attached the image panel to a piece of Baja Breeze card stock and then used dimensionals to attach it to the card front.
I love the colours in this card but I am not sure about the focal image. I will have to have a play and see if I can come up with something I like better. What do you think?
I’m sure your will get much more inspiration if you visit Gwen and Vicky, then when you have made your card, pop on over to Sunny Challenges and Creations and add it to Mr. Linky.
Can’t wait to see what you all come up with this week.
Bye for now, Kris.

A Quick Card Holder
I wanted to make a holder for the 3 cards that I gave my Hostess last weekend and this is what I made.
I took one of Stampin’ Up!’s large cello bags and cut a piece of Early Expresso card that would fit inside the bag and extend 2″ longer than the bag. I scored on the 2″ mark. Then I embossed a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing folder and added it to the front of the 2″ flap. While the flap was folded over I punched a hole using my Crop-A-Dile through all the layers. I used Real Red 1/4″ grosgrain ribbon and threaded both ends through from the back to the front, wrapped the loop around the top and tied a bow. I stamped “a gift for you” from the Word Play stampset using Real Red ink on Very Vanilla card and punched it out using the Large Oval Punch and attached it to a Scallop Oval punched from Real Red card stock. I attached this to the bottom left hand edge of the front flap.
This is a really quick way to present a small gift.
Hope you like it.
Bye for now, Kris.
